    Train horn is epic! Absolutely love the idea.
    You could also pretend to tee off at golf while screaming 'fore!!'. So many uses for trekking poles.

    Nice video! A word about mountain lions from one who sees them in my back yard (the Angeles National Forest ,PCT SECT. D). Pretty much a hiker with those big bulky packs, noisy hiking poles, relatively slow moving, talking, singing, etc. --- you do not look like lunch to them. A swift moving skinny trail runner wearing a tank top and shorts - now that looks like not only lunch, but loads of fun. They're nothing but big kitties (really big) and they love nothing more than something to chase. Make noise -bang your poles together, sing! They're going to hightail it into the bushes and wait for something more appetizing - like small deer and rabbits. Bobcats are about the size of a hefty cocker spaniel - we have one that regularly saunters through our patio, gives us a bored look and trots on. They are definitely not interested in you. It is actually a thrilling privilege to see these beautiful animals in their natural habitat.

    Sure glad to see you have somebody hiking with you, especially when you are passing through the snowy areas. Always better to be prepared and hike in pairs rather than alone. I love your outlook on life and that contagious laugh. Thanks for taking us along on your journey and sharing your videos!

    Those snowy slopes look sketchy. Nice views too. Enjoy the journey. Be careful.

    The train horn is classic, well worth the weight! You are fun to watch and I will stick with you the whole way.

    Hello my hiking friend, I woke up @ 12:45 am and saw that you had a new video, so I had to stay awake and see your video. Welcome to San Jacinto Mt. You will be seeing a lot more snow along the way. Be wise and take good care of yourself. Good health and safety to you along the PCT.
    🤗

    Beautiful video Kate. Makes me feel I'm out there hiking with you. San Jacinto looked a bit scary but maybe it wasn't icy. Trail blessings to you!

    I think the place where the man fell was where you crossed the snow today. Looks like it from the pic in this blog post: www.trailjournals.com/journal/entry/609733. This person was there when the accident and rescue happened. Seems like most of the snow has melted since the beginning of the month.

      Ice Axe, you mean in case the train horn/whistle does not have any effect? (yes, morbid)

      its a whistle that sounds like a horn

  • @HUZ9k3s5w
    @HUZ9k3s5w 5 років тому

    Funny with the train whistle/horn. Know what you mean when you say you will scare people anyway when you come up behind them, so why not go for it. Next time when you put up your tent among other hikers, try blow it immediately when you wake up in the morning. Or just before you go to sleep at night. Could be fun, but you might not win the popularity contest :-) Anyway, nice views!!
