Fjord: You ever have that dream where you look in the water and you see another face looking back at you like you're someone else? Nott: YES. Molly: YES. wOOOOOOW ONE SIMPLE QUESTION ELICITS SO MUCH BACKSTORY FORESHADOWING FROM ALL THREE CHARACTERS. amazing.
Might be that Nott have been cursed or true poly-morphed and over the years forgot who she was before. That, or she might have a some sort of Depersonalization disorder. (Feeling like you are not in your real body) Both might be true if the curse/poly-morph led Nott to have the side effect of the disorder.
There’s something I find so incredibly compelling about Fjord’s backstory. Maybe part of it is because I’m like obsessed with the ocean and the vacuum of space and how we know so little about either. On top of the whole “bullied kid trying to find himself” story that seems to be being built for Fjord and it just resonates with me. It’s a very “greatness thrust upon them” vibe and I love that. That might be why Fjord has been my favorite character thus far
As a fellow wizard that just wants to sit down and take a few minutes to do things right for most of my games, Caleb tossing the glasses to the side and sighing is such a damn relatable feeling.
super cool that nott said yes to the "seeing someone else in the water question" since its heavily implied that she wants caleb to cast true polymorph on her! and molly having a yes (for both questions) is pretty obvious (seeing lucien/nongonagngogn, or seeing something in real life that had to do with his past life). and I find it interesting that caleb has a solid no for both scenarios seeing as he had some fake memories and a long-ass period of being mentally unaware? i wonder why jester said yes to the first question though? is there something we don't know about 🤔 im reading too far into this obviously but i just think it's neat ok
Just pointing this out True Polymorph would help Nott but it wouldn't be the permanent fix that Nott wants since A: It only last for 1 hour, and B: Its a concentration spell. I think the spell Nott is referring to is probably True Resurrection since True Resurrection can provide a new body if the original doesn't exist. Now I don't know if this means the creature can change their race or if it just means it can revive the creature from the after effects of a disintegrate spell and the like. We'd have to see if Caleb and Nott ever make it to the point of having 9th level spells.
Actually the duration of the spell is one hour but if you concentrate past the duration the spell becomes permanent, so it would work. But if someone knows u are true polymorphed (maybe with true sight?) they can use Dispell Magic, and if the spell is powerful enough they can end the True Polymorph. But if Caleb was still around he could cast it on Nott again. (Assuming he is high level and the one who cast it.) roll20.net/compendium/dnd5e/True%20Polymorph The details about Dispell magic are from an errata by Wizards of the Coast. Reincarnate is closer to what u are imagining if you are thinking of Nott getting a new body of another species when she dies. However, there is no control over what species she could become.
I know I'm looking too deep into this, but the particular members of the group who answered Fjord's "mirror in the water" dream question corresponds to their character traits. Nott said she had, which makes sense, since she has expressed that she wants caleb to be powerful enough to change her from a goblin, she wishes to be someone other than herself. Jester says no, her character is very self confident, and she is proud in who she is and her devotion to the traveler, she has never wished to be someone else. Molly says yes, because of his multiple personalities as lucian and nonagon, and Caleb says yes, because he has been shown to be grounded to his reality and his past. Edit: Went back to this video and read the description: Whoops, didn't mean to copy, although I noticed that without the prior knowledge of the description.
ok so i havent really watched critical role but what he said around 11 minutes about sailors or something reminds me of a Deep Scion IS HE A DEEP SCION (that would be so cool)

Have speculated on this for years, but I think Fjord may have had feelings Vandrin. Based on his other interactions, I also think he isn't attracted to women. If true, it adds an interesting dimension to other episodes.

Molly: YES.

This comment has ages very well

what caleb says: "Why did you do that?"
What caleb means: "Wtf, dude. I was looking at that"
Wasn't this shortly before or after the bowl incident, too?
@@Mephiston I think it was about 10 minutes after the bowl fight in fact.
“Fjord grabs it”
Ok he’s gonna put it on his sword or something
“And jams it INTO his chest”
OH
Watching this after knowing nott's backstory now, Sam's role playing is spot on.
Chris Moore RIGHT?
Particularly with jester and beau shouting "You're cursed"
And with Molly
I bet Caleb said no to seeing his reflection so angrily because he refuses to see anyone else but himself , because he hates himself that much .
Let’s just take in the fact that Nott dreams about having another face...
SwagPotato same goes for Molly
I think Molly is more a case of not recognizing himself
SwagPotato can't wait For

Nott could have been another race, and had Resurrection cast on her in the past.

5:40 some nice Sam hinting at Nott's backstory, too.
Why does Travis keep getting things lodged in his characters chests?
uhhhh this aged well...
Fjord omitted telling them Vandrin had his sword and that he was seeing Vandrin in the past
Mike Harris except that Travis didn’t know it was the past until Matt told him after the fact
Re watching this after episode 50 and clocking Sams reactions....
My only question is what would we have learned about the orb, if Calib was to identify the orb
"You could have waited 11 minutes, but no."
Might have been spoken to by Uk’otoa, might have resisted the identify. We’ll never know.

sandssavvy Ah ok thank you for the specifics and correcting my misunderstanding
Jester: "maybe there's more than one?" yep there is Jester.
I didn't realize the first time watching it that Matt talked to Travis about it to push him towards it!
