  • ORLANDO, FL -- A student with at the University of Central Florida got pulled over for an obstruction on their vehicle's tag. Upon identifying herself, the driver unknowingly showed she was in possession of multiple IDs -- one of which was obviously fake.
The officer involved maintained a courteous and professional demeanor, as did the driver. She was also quick to offer the truth. These factors, according to the officer, are why he chose to not make the stop bigger than it needed to be.

This video was originally uploaded yesterday, but was taken down by UA-cam due to privacy concerns. Despite no identifying information being visible on either of the IDs due to the quality and angle of the camera, UA-cam still thought it was violative of their privacy policies. This version of the video has been edited (parts blurred) to address those concerns.
    Thanks for watching.
EDIT: The video was once again removed shortly after posting this comment a few days ago. After going back and forth with UA-cam, the video is once again live.

The officer approached the window and yelled at me “why did you do that?” I replied “honestly because I was being stupid” and he took a deep breath and said “yes! Very stupid, if I was an older person you could have caused an accident”

I disagree. That means if the cop is having a bad day she goes to jail. If the cop is having a good day, then someone else gets a break. If it's a "law" it needs to be applied the same in every situation so that people know exactly what happens when they break. You can't have one person going to jail and having a felony on their record based on how a cop feels about that person. Totally defeats the purpose of laws.

But 99.9% of the outcome IMO is because the way she handled herself. Not arguing, saying "wat you mean bro", and just overall not having an intelligent conversation and to listen to what the officer says, and answer his questions. Too many people just ramble and want to be combative and only makes things worse. Kudos to this young woman for just taking ownership of what she did and in the end, a tiny dot on her Student affair record.

My friend did this also when she was 17 and stopped by cops. He gave her a lecture of a lifetime on how bad things could have gone for her. Showing a cop a fake ID. I don't know if cops are just nicer to young women vs. a guy. But it is beyond dumb trying to show a cop a fake ID thinking you are going to skate by. It also scared me straight to never try and get a fake ID. I was more than happy to wait until I was actually 21 to get into a bar.

I love this cop’s demeanor. He explains the gravitas of the crime, the reasons why, and reprimands her sternly but without being aggressive. This is the perfect way to deal with young students doing stupid things, which I’m sure is something he encounters with on a daily basis.

It’s not that deep. It’s just not. It’s a fake id. It’s a college town. This girl isn’t running around with a fake to sneak into the White House, she just wants to get into a bar. There’s no “gravitas”, the cop just loves the sound of his voice. It’s why he rambled for 10 minutes about something that would take three sentences to explain. Id tell him to get on with it and let me go about my day

I think it depends on the student. She was cooperative, honest and receptive. That's why she deserved that kind of treatment. If she was obnoxious and/or roudy, it would have turned out differently, even though she is still a young student doing stupid things.
