Happy Midwinter or better known as Ground Hog's Day 😊. I had established my home on this day back 1988. Yet it took me a quarter of a century before it dawned on me that the anniversary of establishing my home was on Ground Hog's Day. Talking about extreme absent mindedness 🤯😂. Whoooosh 🤭. When you need embroidery threads may I recommend Michael's Arts and Crafts. That where I got mine😊. However since I am knitter/crocheter 🧶I tend to knit or crochet embroidery threads making jewelry or trim for my clothing 😊. I love making soft yet beautiful lace😊. Then again give me string of any kind I would make something with it😊. Dora looks good with Kirsten's(doll's) apron😊. I love your nail 💅 polish. Your Kristen's dress 👗 is an improvement😊. I have neighbors who still have their Christmas lights up. Come this spring they will take it down. It's still dark around five o'clock this evening 🌃. It's like they are giving people who are walking 🚶 in the dark some light and some hope😊. See you in your next video 📹.
They did a good job on Kirsten's Scandinavian outfit! Also I think you said before that bonnet probably wouldn't be a good look on you but it's so cute!
Considering one Kirsten’s crafts was a weaving loom, it’s likely that the red and blue stripes on the pocket was meant to be woven fabric. (Which would have had tassels from the weft at the end) You did an excellent job of picking out the threads and have the patience of a saint to do so. 😊
My first sewing project was a bonnet like that. I put newspaper in the brim to stiffen it and there was no elastic. Instead the back part extended down and there were two more ties (so four total two long and two short) so you could tie up under your bun or braids. I was eleven and that’s why I taught myself to sew.
JoAnnn laid off their most experienced (aka expensive) workers a few months ago so it's not surprising that they are having staffing issues. Also sleepy Dora is the cutest!
The color of the bodice is beautiful on you. I love the sunbonnet and you got a great fit I think with the bodice. I think your parents must be so pleased that you fill your life with occupations that make you happy. That pretty much the dream I have for my own kids. ❤
This is all looking so lovely! Don't worry! The backside of your embroidery looks absolutely neat! It is much more efficient not to cut the thread everytime when moving on to the next motif, so almost everyone's embroidery looks like this on the back. I own some very old hand-embroidered tablecloths and even there the backside is far from being as perfect as the front. It's just not possible.
I'm so excited to see this finished! I never had an AG doll but I remember wanting Kirsten and all of her accessories SO badly as a child. Your human-sized version is looking beautiful! Also, I'm wondering how long you let Dora sleep there before needing to move her haha
Thanks! You can see some finished pics on my Instagram, if you want a spoiler! 😉 And honestly, as long as she's sleeping on things I don't need, she can stay there as long as she'd like. It's when she's in my immediate workspace that she has to be moved.
Skipping across spaces with your embroidery is okay as long as it's not a super big space or on a light enough color that the thread you carry shows from the front. You did fine! The back of your work is actually very neat.
You are so right about invisible zippers! I spend so much time replacing them in theater things. No quick change with an invisible zipper ever goes well!
Yep! The professional theatre I worked at last year doesn't allow them in any of their costumes. They'll change them out of garments they've purchased.
I did a fringed swimsuit cover the same way. I laid it on a cutting mat and scraped it with a metal fork to loosen up the fibers. It made it easier to pick (although it STILL took about 3 days to finish the 2 inch fringe I wanted.
For an absolute novice, you did a great job on the embroidery. I do embroider and the backstitch is used in embroidery, though it's more often called a Stem Stitch. And the bonnet looks great. I keep remembering watching "Little House on the Prairie" and how Laura and her sisters were always having their bonnets slide off and hang down their backs. Oh, as far as amber feeling like plastic, that's normal. Amber comes from pine resin which hardens over time. Even modern chemical resin always feels plasticky. Though I don't know of any test to see if really is Amber, Unfortunately it's not like pearls where you can just run them along your teeth to see of they're gritty. Fake pearls are too smooth.
Everything looks lovely. I just visited my local JoAnn's this last week. I got my sister zippers so she could finish some projects. Luckily I was able to take pics and text her. She was happy with the find. Right colour and length. Luckily I have several local shops near me for getting sewing supplies.
It's looking amazing so far! Also, when you mentioned needing to take down your Christmas tree still it, it reminded me that I also need to do that 😂 Dora is the cutest sewing assistant ❤
Almost there! It's looking great! If I had your measurements and the stripe widths and the yarn I could knock them up in a day on my knitting machines. Thanks for sharing!
May I recommend The Stitchery. Her name is Charlie. Though she does sew her own clothes mostly without patterns, she's at her core an embroider. Maybe her embroideries might inspire you 😊. Good luck 🤞. I see you Dora😻. Thank you for gracing us with your delightful presence 😊. See you in your next video 📹.
My local Joannes has become depressing to shop in. It’s so poorly kept. I started shopping on Amazon to be honest with you. I’m wondering if there’s some other online shopping experience for fabric? Does anyone know?
I went to find fabric to recover my grandmother's dining room chairs. My local Joann's had only 3 options. One was too large a pattern and the other two were leather.
You probably need to internet order the thread you mentioned. I think there's a supply chain issue going on. While this isn't the same store, my walmart has been out of thread for months now, but the display is still up.
I think it's a stocking issue more than that. The Joann's around here are covered in unpacked boxes. My nearest one is working on October boxes right now.
Your project is looking amazing. I LOVE the bonnet. Have you ever tried using zipper on a roll or make your own zipper? I checked and they do have these for invisible zippers too. I use them when making purses, bags, etc. I love them and they make it so much easier to always have the zipper I need for a project.
Hi, I’m trying to DIY the same spoon bag for my AG doll. I do not have the measurements for the same, if you’ve come across anything then please do share the link here else could you please measure the spoon bag you have and let me know the measurements, specifically the measurement L and B of the square white cloth.
@@LadyRebeccaFashions yess i seen the addy video, sorry , it just confused me bc i seen the other dolls .. but i realize they were modeling ‘addy’s clothes 🥰 thank you for the reply. much love
Federal way Joanns has also not been giving their people enough hours to stock anything. ...Do you want hand knit stockings? I'm localish and I knit. A lot.
That's such a generous offer, thank you! The ones I found from AliExpress aren't the perfect color match, but they actually stay up on my legs so well compared to most knee highs, so I'll probably stick with those.
@LadyRebeccaFashions Cool. But let me know if you ever need a knit costume piece. I don't take commissions because no one can afford them, so the general rule is, if I like you, buy me yarn and I will make you stuff.

That bodice fabric is wonderful. Also side note. I am watching this while sewing myself, it is oddly social

I am very impressed how you took the time to make the fringe on the bag. You have so much patience.
Love your videos and for some reason you always make me cackle when you say something like: “obviously I’m a human being not a doll”

Uhoh, it did seem like I was seeing a few different faces in there versus before. That's awful!
Her accessories are so cute!
I think embroidery floss comes in skeins, like yarn. That little bundle is a skein, I think.

They look like a chain stitch which is perfectly reasonable.

I vote your next project should be something for Dora so she can look as glorious as she clearly is
Sick today and a 40 minute Lady Rebecca video is just what the doctor ordered! ❤️

The dots can be small satin stitches or a large knot.
6:27 Your embroidery looks great for someone who doesn't know how to embroider!
Also - I love your curls. 😊 We have really similar hair!
Dora ❤
The bonnet is so adorable!
My Xmas tree is still up, too. 😂😂😂
Oh, oh....when my local Joanns stopped stocking their shelves, it closed about 8 months later. I hope that is not what is happening to yours.
Oh no! I really hope that doesn't happen here!
Joann's may be initiating bankruptcy. I have to check the news to verify.

Do you not have Hobby Lobby or Michaels? They carry embroidery floss. Walmart does too.
Tbh, I didn't think about Michael's, but I'll have to check there if Joanns fails in the future.
Perfect for a cottagecore Prairie Look?
It's turning out great!

Thankd! And tbh, I didn't know they had those for invisible zippers.
I think those are called chain stitches for embroidery btw,
Oh cool!
Actually, she did split stitches! They can sometimes look like chain stitches.
Shared, liked and commented! Can’t wait to see this!

What about fabric paint for the socks? I just hand painted a red stripe t-shirt so I could get the right thickness.
I don't think it would wear right when the knit is stretched.
I have seen crochet sock patterns online, a few videos on youtube. I dont crochet so I have never tried them, but maybe that would work for you!
Excellent price for the amber heart.
The brim on the one I replicated came out 1.5-2” past my forehead. The back came down to my shoulders.
Real amber turns blue or blue green under UV light. Also if you heat it, it gives off a piney scent.
Amber is tree resin, + is lighter than glass as well! Ciao.
The back looks perfectly fine.
love your videos! would u please do Addy’s outfits???
thanks xo
I won't be making Addy's outfits for myself, but I do have a whole video breaking down the historical accuracy of her outfits.
@@LadyRebeccaFashions yess i seen the addy video, sorry , it just confused me bc i seen the other dolls .. but i realize they were modeling ‘addy’s clothes 🥰 thank you for the reply. much love
@@LadyRebeccaFashions i meant just showing the outfits .. like u did Kirsten’s. sorry for the confusion ❤️
Every year or two i check amazon for an amber heart necklace
I put the link for this one in the description! 😉

Make good choices:
- Make reusable patterns
- Baste EVERYTHING
Amber is a resin so feels like a plastic real Amber does not act like
My Joann's just went out of business. I hope yours is not being lax with restocking because it sees the writing on the wall....
Oh no! They just said that they haven't had the staffing to allow for restocking.
