Biodiesel 101: Step 8- Settling and Pour Off Glycerin

After 4 hours of circulating biodiesel reaction, turn off circulation pump and let it settle at least 48hrs. The biodiesel will float to the top, and the glycerin will sink to the bottom.
After settling, pour the glycerin out of the bottom of the Processor using a bottom drain valve. Let it settle outside for a few days uncapped, then let it settle at least another week to skim additional biodiesel off the top. Glycerin soap makes an excellent industrial solvent. The neutralizing of FFAs in the reaction makes it soapy.
