2014 Ram 1500 Ecodiesel 3.0L transmission fluid change
2014 Ram 1500 ecodiesel 3.0L transmission fluid change
ZF 8HP70 transmission
Fluid- ZF Lifeguard 8
Loosen the fill plug on the side.
Drain and drop the pan on a cool day with cool vehicle
Clean up gasket and gasket surface
Prep and clean new pan with new gasket and filter. Use clean transm fluid to lubricate all rubber gaskets and o-rings
Install new pan being sure to line up filter before pushing in
Tighten and torque T40 torx pan bolts in a criss cross pattern. Torque is around 10ft-Lbs (Im going off of memory).
TRANSMISSION OIL MIST BE LESS THAN 120F BEFORE FINAL FLUID LEVEL CHECK.
If it gets hotter than this, you will need to turn key off and wait several hours for it to cool back down.
With transmission level and rear wheels up off the ground, fill with fluid until it pours out the fill port
Start the truck and immediately go back under and fill again until fluid comes out the fill port with engine running.
Lightly install fill plug
Back in truck, cycle thru all gears for about 5 seconds each. Then go to drive, turn off traction control and press pedal until it shifts to second gear.
Shift back to neutral, then back to park.
MAKE SURE TRANSMISSION OIL IS STILL LESS THAN 120F
With vehicle still running, check fluid level one last time and top off thru the fill port.
Install fill port plug and tighten.
Drop truck back down and test drive.

Bad Diesel fix from stalling part 2. Fix with Seafoam injector flush.
Переглядів 3672 роки тому
So…. I thought i had fixed it ok in my fist vid when i added a can of cetane boost. Nope, still stalling. So what ended up working for me… i got that tank to mostly burn thru (with lots more stalls), refilled with clean diesel, added a can of diesel sludge/ water tank cleaner, and 4 cans of sea-foam. Was still stalling, so i added another half of a big can of seafoam and dropped the fuel filter...
Bad Diesel fix from hard start and stalling at idle
Переглядів 5062 роки тому
Added some bad diesel to top off a 22 gal tank. Next mornin- hard start and dod not want to keep running. When i say i was stalling… i probably stalled 30 times in my 30 min commute to work. Every time i slowed down and the rpms went down, it stalled. Tried to just drive around to burn it out, but really couldn’t keep it running more than a few min at a time. Got it down to 3/4 a tank…. Stalled...
2014 Ram 1500 Ecodiesel 3.0L “service electronic throttle controller” Part 2
Переглядів 4,4 тис.3 роки тому
After checking transmitters and readings, everything looked pretty good. Plugged in an OBD tool, and it read “crank position sensor A”. I had actually taken the truck to the dealership a few weeks before because the crank position sensor failed and left me stranded on the road. I had assumed they had fixed it, but when I brought it back this time and discussed, they said they had only done a so...

    Great video, just got my PPE all aluminum pan and going to change it today, ordered the Mopar gasket so there's no bullshit with it lining up also bought the zf trans fluid and a hand pump, this pan should hold 1.5 to 2 extra quarts of trans fluid. some say the pan acts as a heat sink and trans my run 15 or 20 degrees cooler. hope to see more eco diesel videos from you.

    This will not work for modern diesel engines. New common rail designs need less than 5 microns for filtering to run at over 10k psi. But older, direct injection stuff it works pretty good.

    I'm stumped with this on my 2000 Jetta TDI... my fans weren't kicking on so I checked the 30amp fuse on top of the battery and that was blown so I replaced it. Now the cooling fans kick on, and compressor clutch is turning, but air is still warm... also checked the fuses on the side dash compartment and those seem to be good... only things I can think of ate the relay or low freon

    My 2014 1500 eco has 87,300 miles on it ... accelerated on the freeway to pass and the truck shuddered, threw the code and redlined! Off throttle, coasted and merged my way to right shoulder. Same thing. I can drive it but have to accelerate S.L.O.W.L.Y. else rpms just rev up. Turned off and on restart, it turns but sputters and eventually starts. Remote start works but it turns off after 10 seconds or so. I figure it's some sensor somewhere but at 87,000 miles, it surprising. Kind of like the four transfer cases that got swapped out in the first 18 months of ownership.

    • @allanmcilwain870

      For me, it was the crank position sensor. I ended up having to get it replaced. I had originally taken it to the shop for this issue as it left me stranded, but they did not replace it the first time. My dead giveaway was that was the code it was throwing both before and after coming from the shop (crank position sensor faulty). Good luck to ya.

    hmm... all my fuses are ok. The fans turn on when the key is turned to 'accessory' while the AC button is on. That compressor just won't kick in. I was using the AC just a week or so ago and it pumped out plenty of cold air. I changed my windshield wiper mechanism last Thursday, I wonder if I damaged something. 🤔

    • @allanmcilwain870
      @allanmcilwain870 4 роки тому

      Dave Bowman some other things that could be keeping your compressor form kicking on: the pressure switch, radiator temperature sensor, fan control module (contains the compressor relay) I suggest you first unplug the connection to the compressor and see if u have voltage with the AC switched on and car running.

    Any ideas. When I turn on my ac and fan switch. The 2 cooling fans do kick on. But I tested no power going to the compressor. Replaced the 40amp fuse that was blown and the 30amp fuse is ok. Replaced the fcm already.

    • @allanmcilwain870
      @allanmcilwain870 5 років тому

      There's a couple other common issues. The pressure switch is one. It's a 3 prong and will hold the compressor out with too hi or too low of pressure. No way to jump it out. Also, there is a thermal cutoff of somekind located on the radiator. Something is holding out getting power to the comp. Could even be a bad AC button on your dash. Hope this helps

      @allanmcilwain870 7 років тому

      MrJeepin88 i would first put a voltmeter to the wires to your compressor. You should have 12V. If so, compressor has issues. If not, another common issues is with the pressure switch. I'm pretty sure the relay that sends power to the comp. is also in the FCM, so that could have an issue. There's also the 3 30amp fuses on top of your battery. Hope this helps.
