I remember riding a train like that as a little boy, we had a place called Noble park fun land, lots of memories. Mena also has a campground that we plan on visiting one day, Coyote Canyon.
Wow! That looks like a neat place to visit! But I think it was those giant ice cream cones you ate that probably caused the great tragedy of a derailment. But that ice cream looked worth it. I bet it was just like Deja Vue all over again for you Ron. After almost 60 years, that must have brought back some fine memories. Well done on the video and the appropriate music. Yea, we’ve stop in several times over the years and the train was out of order each time…..we got lucky in this trip! Yep your analysis may be correct regarding the extra weights and balance caused by the ice cream!!! You make you move up North?
Really enjoy seeing the places you guys fly to. Love the old town vibe of this place. And glad you fed Janice before she got Hangry. There is sure a lot of lover’s leaping in these canyons. No trip is complete without ice cream. Choo Choo!!
This trip looked like you two had so much fun. I must agree there's just nothing like a peaceful stroll through the woods. The deer was a nice surprise. I'm walking out the door right now and headed to a local Fly in called Barnstorming Carnival at KSGH. I hope you guys have a very blessed day and as always thanks for bringing us along with you.
Was some of this taped in the Fall? Not much vegetation on the trees in some of the shots. Another tragedy on Rich Mountain in 1980, the founder of the company I worked For was trying to get into Mena in his Bonanza in low weather and crashed into Rich Mountain at cruise speed.
Yea, I had to piece a couple vids together…. Hate to heart of that true tragedy…. But I can understand why…. Even VFR, our base to final was skirting the peaks!
I sure hope someone called 911 when that cone crashed! Thanks for documenting this fun adventure!

There was lots of food! The lodge was a bit remote, so if you wanted to eat anywhere else it was a bit of a drive. 🚗

This area is absolutely gorgeous!! Tons of hiking and I believe there are some streams you can kayak down too.

There is camping on the grounds here as well…..
The campground there was nice! The little store/snack stand had Blue Bell ice cream. 🍦

We had thought of riding our bikes up to Stearman (1K1) for their awesome breakfast buffet - but a little rain shower popped up!
