    Great video! The animation makes the procedure much easier to understand than a written description.

    I had this surgery performed on 10 July. My heaviest was 423lbs.
    Day of surgery, I was 409lbs.
    As of 3 weeks ago, I was 338lbs, probably more now.
    I'm down from size 60 pants to size 50. I am feeling great!

      What are some words of encouragement or even actions of support you felt were needed pre and post op? My fiance is going to get this surgery tomorrow and I just want to make the process easier

    • @LKS-1976

      @LonelyBunni3 great question.
      1: It is not easy. The first month or so post surgery was absolute hell secondary to pain, healing. Make sure to follow the specific diet per the manual provided. Your surgeon/practice should keep in contact, make sure, any questions, call them.
      2: hydrating is so very important. Dehydration is a distinct possibility. I was lucky, I was able to maintain this.
      3: once you start introducing food, follow that diet, it'll be tough since you (your fiance) won't be hungry.
      4: bowel movements will be weird, any constipation, let doc know.
      5: your fiance will feel as if weight loss is slow, it will be rapid, hence, MAKE SURE THEY ARE TAKING THEIR VITAMINS! That's viral.
      Eventually, things will mellow out, they'll get into a rhythm and your fiance will feel better.
      I'll be honest, some think weight loss surgery is the easy way out, it's certainly not.
      About a month after surgery, surgeon will, as long as healing is good will tell you to start strength training, since weight loss will be fat AND muscle.
      I'm in low 250s now, doing calelstetics and jiu-jitsu. I feel great, some days I feel slightly off, I'm 9 months post op, I'm in a rhythm.
      It changed my life. It saved my life.
      I'll be personal here and say: I'm a former Army Paratrooper/combat medic in 90s, been a paramedic for 25 years. Trauma resulted in me eating. Your fiance will need to seek therapy if any if that may be an issue.
      Feel free to ask further questions. I wish you guys luck!

    Can this additionally help with chronic nausea, GERD, indigestion, and gastroparesis? This option came up in my search for solutions to abdominal lipedema with BMI above 32. Does this also help with patients who have had to have their gall bladder removed? Would I also be able to feel like I no longer have a lump in my stomach through the nausea and indigestion?

    what happens to the proximal end of the incised dueodenum? the distal 5 ft is anastomosed close to the colon but what about the proximal end? It doesn't just dangle there does it?

    • @hugoadler9797
      @hugoadler9797 4 місяці тому +3

      Yes, the proximal end is closed and it stays there. It's important because that part of duodenum is connected to a channel that receives digestive juice and bile from pancreas and liver. These juices will then travel down to the distal part of small bowel, where this free segment was reconnected, delivering the digestive juices to the segment that passes food.
