- documentary film "Mean Man: The Story Of Chris Holmes"
Written and directed by French filmmakers Antoine De Montremy and Laurent Hart (whose music production career includes televised interviews with SCORPIONS, DEEP PURPLE, SLAYER, GUNS N' ROSES and more), "Mean Man: The Story Of Chris Holmes" was a project that was born in 2014 after they had an opportunity to meet and direct Holmes in a music video for the Holmes-penned song "Let It Roar" in Cannes, France. At that time, the former W.A.S.P. guitarist had more or less disappeared from the music scene, leaving his home in the U.S. to seek a new beginning with his wife Sarah in France. Not content with merely directing a music video for the reborn Holmes, De Montremy pursued his bigger dream of writing and directing a documentary film about this iconic metal guitar legend, and for the next several years shadowed him throughout Europe while filming everything from band rehearsals, to recording sessions to live performances.
By creatively combining archival footage, interviews with past and present band members and musical peers, family members and childhood friends - interspersed with beautifully filmed concert performances of Holmes's current solo band - De Montremy skillfully portrays the story of an iconic guitar player who has lived a life of extreme highs and lows. After losing the publishing rights of his own songs and combatting dangerous addictions, the legendary W.A.S.P. guitarist is shown starting over from scratch while living at his mother-in-law's in Cannes, France as he puts together, with his wife, a brand new band and a brand new musical role as not only the main guitarist, but now as the actual lead singer of this newly born musical project aptly named MEAN MAN.
Says De Montremy: "Over the last five years, I've had the privilege to establish a true relationship with Chris Holmes and to follow him throughout Europe. I was impressed by his charisma, his approach towards life, his multiple experiences and taste for simplicity which have actually altered my own vision of existence. In fact, he has almost become a spiritual father to me, in the way that he inspired me in many of my own decisions."

One of my favorite guitar players, in the 80's. He wasn't the fastest shredder, but he was original and had a unique style, in his leads. Listen to his finest performance, on the album "The Headless Children", from 1989. Excellent guitar work on that one.
And the guitar sound dropped dramatically by the Next Album, Crimson crap album. It's worse than hearing Judas Priest without KK and Glen. Heartbreaking to see wasp without Randy, let alone Chris', the saddest break up of a band since the Beatles'.
The true sound of WASP..always had a great tone.Very under rated player..lot of respect for Chris..AKA Chewbacca.
I had the pleasure of meeting Chris in Clinton, Iowa on the Helldorado tour. Dude was ultra cool sitting at the bar & even bought me a beer. TRUE STORY I SWEAR!!! I talked to him for about 20 minutes until he headed back stage, but thanked me for the talk & told me he hoped I enjoyed the show...which I did :)
Seen Mr Holmes a few years ago here in Northern Ireland, after the show I got to meet him and was only to happy when I asked for a photo with the legend himself...MR CHRIS HOLMES.
Yo Bro ..Belfast man myself..seen W.A.S.P back in 86 & 89 in the Ulster Hall.Aah those were the days.Chris has always been a beast of a player...
I'm so happy that Chris didn't give up. Next to Rick " Thunder God " Allen of Def Leppard, he's one of the ultimate badass rebel survivors.
Can't wait to see this documentary. Chris Holmes is a legend!
It's a shame seeing a legend like chris travelling in an old car like that with a tiny trailer he should have more.
Ya but blackie lawless stole his publication rights.
He's way too RnR for that, just like Lemmy (God rest his soul).
Great guitarist! One of the best guitarists out there for sure.
I was in the Army in 1985 and I received a letter from one of my friends back home and in it was a picture of Chris Holmes in my friend's van smoking a joint with all my other friends. My friend always had one of those cheap disposable cameras with him and would take pictures of anything he thought was cool and eventually got the film developed. He took the picture from a gig with W.A.S.P., Armored Saint and Metallica as the opening band, February 1985 in Royal Oak, just outside Detroit, it was a sold out concert. They got there early and parked in the back of the venue and out walked Chris Holmes out the back door where they were loading gear about an hour before the doors opened, they called Chris to come over and smoke a joint and he did,...got in the van and smoked a couple joints with them...my friend said they got so high, they forgot who Chris was and they were like, who are you again? and Chris laughed his ass off...they also forgot to ask for backstage passes form Chris, but they said Chris was super cool to them and it was quite the experience...I only wish I could've been there.
LET'S FUCKIN GO! Cant wait for this, love Chris. Met him in Wolverhampton, UK couple of years ago after a gig. I stayed in the same hotel and met him at breakfast the next morning. He talked to me for ages and ages. We spoke about Johnny Rod and why he isnt playing with him right now. Such a fucking great guy, the real deal.
🤘
Still remember him in the pool drinking a gallon of vodka. Left a life long impression of WHAT NOT to do and be
Chris Holmes is the real deal! 🤘💀

🤘🔥
Saw WASP open up for Krokus back in the 80s. Holmes was f'ing nuts. I had no idea who WASP was at the time.
I am the guy at 1.54. Chris is not only an exceptional guitar player, but a great down to earth and friendly guy too.
When is this coming out?
Only got to see W.A.S.P once in Minneapolis at the Orphium theater. Was on their Electric Circus tour. Opening for them was Raven "still got that shirt I bought at the show", then Slayer, then W.A.S.P. Still have the W.A.S.P shirt from that show too. Was a great time. Being a guitarist for 30 some years, Chris has been a big positive influence for me. Insane guitar tone. Like eating a 99% raw steak when you have not eaten for 3 days.
15th of January 2021
Awesome guitarist very underrated it's sad how he lost his royalties
Love chris Holmes
when he sings he sounds like El Duce from The Mentors .
i lived next door to him in the barrio in Hollywood... smokin crack, wearin tubesocks, and grandpa boy slippers and drunker than a sawed off pirate, he was quite the neighbor
Chris Holmes is my hero
Great guitar tone. Had a huge stage presence. I’ll never forget seeing WASP live in BBC TV one night. I was, who the hell is that blonde dude wearing red and black?!
Haha I saw these guys in... like '87 or '88 i think, in Michigan. Went to the show because they were opening for Slayer on their Reign in Blood tour. Street cred!! lol. Another band also opened, "Raven." The drummer wore hockey equipment and smashed his drum set.
When and where??? Me and my big ass cup gunna go!!!!
My buddy's band was scheduled to open for him last yr in Regina but then Covid hit and he had to cancel his 🇨🇦 tour.
Nice!!
How and when do we get to see this? :):):)
January 2021.
Bought my DVD copy on ebay just now.
Cool!
il sort quand le documentaire ?merci
He was the Man Behind the Sound of WASP 🤘🏻
looks like a good documentary.
NO CHRIS ... the law is the law !!!
Watched that movie on Prime Video earlier today. Holmes was a serious alcoholic, doing drugs all his life. Blackie paid him to stop drinking or he'd probably be dead. Still is an asshole to random people in the other countries. If he had nothing to do with the Unholy Terror album, then W.A.S.P. didn't lose much because Wasted White Boys had an INSANE guitar solo and Holmes said "I didn't play any of that shitty music" though I don't know if he was referring to the song or the entire album. By the way, love the middle finger on the back of his jacket. Shows what kind of people him and W.A.S.P. are. Oh well, their music kicks ass and that's all I care about. I'm gonna assume he meant the song Unholy Terror because not much going on there.
Anything but dowm, my most favorite since Acceleracers
Could anyone tell me what song starts at 0:21 seconds. I cant find it one shazam
Tormentor live 1984
I dont know how accurate it is, but I looked up his net worth, about $7,000,000 but here he is driving a mini van pulling a Harbor Freight trailer, lol..
He says Blackie has an ego but Blackie has never made a documentary about himself lmao
Right? Chris seems like a nice dude and he's a killer guitar player but this documentary seems like just a big jab at Blackie. I mean, he obviously has been holding a grudge since he left the band.
Blackie does have a ego but hides it
Will this be on Netflix?
I never had Netflix but it sucks!!
What a fuckin band was
Anyone that wants to watch it.good luck
Whys that?
Anyone else thought that Chris looked like Michael Shannon abit from tha cover?
From 1:34 to 1:44 Jajajajaja!! 😂 😂
+MOVE THAT PIECE OF SHIT !!1!11
-Chris !
+Wot ?
Not sure why some former wasp members paint Blackie as a monster he has never said anything bad about them. Mike and Doug have been in wasp for 20 years there must be a reason for this
I’m sorry Chris should just do what he does best playing his guitar 🎸 ❤️🔥 🎸
"MOVE THAT POS!", LMAO
No Chris, de l’eau is de l’eau.
Blond Bomber Chris a sweet couple
Just watched this ,for free have you, on Tubi. Chris seems like a cool dude. A bit out of place/pace with most of civilization, but a cool dude nonetheless. But please my man, you cannot sing brah. You just cant. No harm no foul. Your a decent enough guitarist and can get a bit of crowd action going with yer antics, but dang brah. Actually he would be a perfect singer for The Mentors because all I hear is El Duce in his "voice". W.A.S.P. was is and will always be Blackie Lawless good or bad.
funny man now............
What say you blackie?🤔
Looks like a shit movie but I'll watch it
