I love low poly 3d object art, it's great that so many people are working on free programs for the public that even though simple can achieve so much more if pushed to their limits
What the heck, that's so cool!!! PicoCAD looks like an absolute gem, I love every bit about its philosophy. The whole interface just seems so playful; yet it has many of the tools and conventions you'd find in a familiar workspace like Blender for simple 3D modelling and UV mapping! 🤩 That was a really fun vid, I enjoyed the change in pace while keeping things square 😁 Seeing your techniques has got me wondering too, have you dabbled into 3D stuff at some point?
Yeah! I had only heard of the pico8 console being used for game development, so it's impressive to see it used to generate a unique functional software like this. I've never really done 3D stuff before so I kept it simple on this one, but I'm excited to now try something more ambitious :D

Oh this is great! It seems like a really cool way to learn the basics of 3D modeling with such a simple interface and whatnot. I’d love to see more in picocad :)
Thank you so much for this! I did some light programming in Pico-8 years ago so I already knew about that, but I had no idea Pico-CAD existed. I always wanted to create these low poly models and this will finally push me over the edge. What a great little program. Also, the video is sublime as usual and has the exact right amount of depth. Keep up the good work! :)
Thanks for making this. I’ve been thinking of doing something in picoCAD for months, but never got around to it because 3D seemed so intimidating. This was the video I needed to get started. Thanks!
I just thought of a good way to get more precise with moving vertices without too much trouble, if anyone needs this. But you can scale any mesh you are working on with Y and U, So by scaling a mesh larger you can get to those vertices easier without grabbing others, Then scale the final product back down.
man I love these videos! they helped me get better at pixel art and I apply the same methods to my normal art usually and it also looks better! Keep the videos up!
I'm not a game maker (though I would love to be) but the tech that went into building this could be used directly in a game engine to simply load in the 3d assets with the pixelart that should go on top, for a pixelart game with a fully rotatable camera. Very cool!
Thank you very much for this video! I want to start getting into pixel art as it is my most favorite form of art and 3d models are very fun to see Thank you very much for your work!
