Mmmmm... Interesting video. I have about 14-15 avocado trees/seedlings. I've grown them from seed indoors. My oldest one is my favorite. Unfortunately though, last autumn it stopped growing after I bought it outside. I know it has root rot. All the leaves fell off eventually. I bought a fungicide and new soil to try and save it. If the stem starts dying back, I'll immediately repot it in a plastic transparent bucket and make drainage holes. I don't want to repot it because the bottom layer f soil is universal and has a few worms, which is a good sign, but they're gross. The tree still has buds.

My monstera declined this winter. Bloody thrips attacked her and I didn't figure in time. :'( That is a great idea for setting plant goals. I will start documenting their growth.

When you said you've got "copies" of the plant... In Romanian, copii is literally the word for children, it comes from Latin copia which means a reproduction. So it's really not such a bad choice of words!

people need to know that if you grow an avocado from seed, it will take 10+ years to bear fruit. and the fruit wont be the same fruit from where it came from

I planted a new avocado last year and it's already taller but it has no leaves and I don't know if its good for a avocado to be short with a thick stem and lots of leaves. Can you please help me?

How can you grow an avocado tree in water but it doesn’t get root rot?

Because water has oxygen. But if you add soil to the water, the soil sucks out the oxygen. And avocados thrive in areas with more oxygen. So, sandy mix or perlite also have oxygen. But most soils aren’t well-draining, so they don’t have much oxygen. Also, there needs to be aeration.
However, if you don’t change the water, algae starts growing and there’s much less oxygen. So, change the water. When the avocado has leaves, plant it in sandy mix or soil with perlite or both for oxygen and don’t put compost or too much organic matter (it sucks oxygen out).

Scott, I need help. My avocado plant is dying and I'm convinced it's because of dry air due to the winter weather here up north. My avocado plant is also in water and I'm concerned if that's also what's causing it to die. And should I prune my avocado plant now or later when it gets better and its healthy again?

Avocados shouldn't stay in water for too long, there are no nutrients in the water and it can only grow with what's in the seed. I'm currently germinating in a shallow pot of water (peeled, no toothpicks) and then moving them over to soil almost as soon as the root comes out, it's worked really well for me. I would definitely wait for the plant to get better before pruning.

After you peel the seeds why are some pink, brown or white?
