Hi. Your info is great. I love the xl( land cruiser) 200 series. Would you purchase one with 150+ to 200+ miles with a decent history. What do l need to look for.
I would look for dealer serviced, no rust southern LC, and timing belt service. Also regular consistent miles overtime... like 12k a year or 15k a year. Not 25k one year and 3k the next... people fall for low mile vehicles but you need to make sure it didn't sit idle for a year. Also check the rear gate door when its down, check the corner where you can see through to the ground. Thats a spot rust likes to start or if in an accident will also rust at the body joint.
Thanks. The milage part is a bit confusing as most vehicles I am looking at have more than one owner. Sooo. Your in agreement that high miles is ok, given the info you just gave me.
I don't know. I am sure people have broken the rear drive shaft and continued to roll, possibly in low range on the trail. It would just be turning nothing in the rear. I would verify with a mechanic.

One question can I drive the 100 series without the rear drive shaft with out damage anything? ?????
I don't know. I am sure people have broken the rear drive shaft and continued to roll, possibly in low range on the trail. It would just be turning nothing in the rear. I would verify with a mechanic.
What bumper is that on your 80?
AOE. I work with them if you are interested in that bumper..Made in the USA I'm Southern California. Best 80 series bumper.

what camera did you use to record this? looks great!
Samsung Note 10 with a DJI Osmo gimble.

Love the 80 from Australia 😁👍
I need those headlights
Have you had an issue with the stock roof rails on the 80 getting a bit loose? I really need to figure out how to secure it properly as the screws on mine are stripped =(
I took mine off and re-sprayed with special trim paint. No problem putting them back in. I am sure you can get new screws from local Toyo dealer. Or try thin plumbers tape on the screws to tighten it.
If you had to have one land cruiser which generation would u take?
That's difficult. Like choosing one of your kids. Depends situation... is world in chaos and need an Armageddon vehicle? 80

AOE front bumper.
Putting on a Slee rear bumper this month and will post a video.

Wow that's a beautiful color on the 80. What color is it? 🤩
Moonglow pearl
@@CruisingTheLand I'm scrolling but can't find it as I'm certain it's already been asked and answered , 4give me as a newb, but what brand or where can I get shop for those breathtakingly beautiful headlight assemblies that are certain to have a breathtaking price tag too? although I had to lust and just dream of my own 80 from back in 93 or 94 up until this past December and getting a preliminary cancer diagnosis 10 days before Christmas! So as a 39 yr old and getting that slap I told my wife that i wasnt going to let the next one I saw for sale slip away as I had done way too often during past decade when I finally got in a position to afford one albeit a rough one I am stoked to be learning all the things about how she works and my son when I getting dirty etc. So my 97 LX450 now has a 96 as a garage buddy as of last wknd thanks to a good guy who knew I needed his interior lol. But luckily cancer free as the actual tumor removed was found to be benign and that's hopefully past and better days ahead! But i am a little mad at the several I let pass by due to hesitations etc back from 2011-2017 as I considered them overpriced then lol....If I had only known the prices we seeing this year without blinking.....
What headlights are those?
They are called Angel Eyes
Can you confirm which headlights are on the 80?
Angel eyes. Bought on ebay. They look cool, but are not great. You'd have to change your bulb. I just use them as parking lights and have the other lights for night driving.
Did the ‘99 land cruiser come with a locker rear diff? I’ve got my eyes on one with 190k miles and in a very pretty blue
Yes only 98 and 99 did
Ano suggestion where to find a good landcruiser 100? Do you know a site in case?

What is the price?

Please help ! I went to look a 2000 with 167k , reverse does a little noise when goes in and then when I put D the same , trans fluid was almost red.. is that normal ? After 20 years , or is a trans problem... thanks
Not sure on the trans fluid, supposed to be an enclosed system for life. The clunk noise putting in gear is typical in those years. Like it's a loose U joint. But always get a mechanical inspection when buying!
Hey buddy, I’m looking for a good mechanic, I have problems with my 92 land cruiser, maybe you know a good mechanic?
What is up with your Landcruiser?
You can DM me on IG @Landcruiser949
Well it started to heat the mechanic said it was the head gasket, so we did it but still having the same problem we checked all the system cooling replaced a few things but still doing the same thing

I currently have a 05 Ford Escape Hybrid. Wish I could afford a land cruiser. What's your opinion on the Escape?
I don't know much about the Escape. I am sure they came in different configurations. But Toyota is built on a whole other level, to last 25 years without major repair and thr suspension and ATRAC is the ultimate. This would bring you beyond the reaches the Ford you get you to.
@@CruisingTheLand I've heard the first gen Escape Hybrids used as taxis on NYC keep going over 200,000 miles. Pretty good. Thanks for commenting . Most people think Escapes are junk.
I want to do over landing and medium off road.
Is the v6 in the 80 sluggish with 35s?
It is OK with 35s.
You would be in the cusp of changing gearing to 4.88s
At 37s you would definitely want to change gearing in axles.
If you are at altitiude, like Colorado, you eould want regearing at 35s.
@@CruisingTheLand thank you so much
@@adventureswithsteve4278 It's an inline 6, not V6. My advice is forget about 35" tires and run 33 for better performance on road and plenty capable off road.
“V8 vs V6” immediately leaves video.
Ha! If you waited 20 second I corrected myself and said inline 6. Sorry, but I don't read Scripts or cue cards, I just roll with it and do a one-take and sometimes make small errors that I catch... hmmm you sound like my grade 9 history teacher? Is this Mr Schuddabaum?

@@CruisingTheLand this is a terrible review in general
that is one sexy 100, i like it more than i like the white one, did you get the ones with the spare wheel on the trunk in the US?

Correct
Looks like there is a lot of oil stains under where the 60 series is parked lol
Lol... radiator has burped a few times. Just got a new Radiator in it and AC condenser.
Good grief these are beautiful.
How does drivers seat legroom and headroom compare between the 2?
Hey Josh, great question. The 100 has alot more leg room for the driver seat. FJ80 is a little tight for people 6' and taller. They didn't know about Yao Ming yet back then...Ths Fj80 is also notorious to have the a plastic piece come off the motor..most people, incl dealerships, think its a motor replacement solution, but it's actually just a 25 cent plastic piece on the spindle.
@@CruisingTheLand Oh, that sounds like a video series. LC/LX fixes that don't won't break the bank. My buddy's '01 Tundra is super clean and reliable, but his repairs are usually $350-$600, feels like the LC/LX are more $1K-$2K wjen needed, but are good for another 100K miles. 🤷♂️
@@CruisingTheLand Oops, I'm 6'3" and that might be a deal breaker for the 80. Thanks for bringing that up.
The 100 series is more comfortable for tall drivers than the 80 series. I’m 6’3” and I have both the 80 and 100 series. The 100 series has more leg and head room. The seats in the 100 series feel wider.
@@loribarker2689 absolutely. Agreed on interior size. Tight on the 80 for anyone 6' and taller.

Solid axle in the rear only or the front too? You guys are wayyy spoiled downunder. You get all the good Landcruisers and diesel engines... we are even losing the LC badge in 2022, and only getting the Lexus version of the 300 series. Such a mistake by Toyota.
