thanks for this Info I have like 7 trees that I have been growing from seeds and want to plant them in the ground. I live in Honduras central america, and here we don't get temperature so low, cold. I'm thinking of transplanting them this week. Hope it goes well. Thanks again and My God Bless You
Thanks for a really simple helpful video. A neighbour grows Kiwi fruit successfully here in Ireland so I was going to try Lychee - no idea what variety the seeds I have are - just fingers crossed they are from northern China as its colder than Florida here, though we don't generally get the temp much more than -2º C that often. So inside a polytunnel and keeping the tree trimmed down may work. Not too large and it could be covered in fleece in really cold weather.
I don't use pesticides. Sri Lankan weevils love lychee leaves. They are about the size of a lady bug and are a grayish white color. Their larval state is in the ground, so they are difficult to eradicate. Many people go out at night and pick them off their trees. Even our young lychee trees are fairly old, so the weevil doesn't cause major damage to them.
I love your channel and hot tips . I would to ask . My lychee is hakip . It has flowers now and still planted in pot . Is it ok to plant in ground now or I should wait . Thanks
I have Sweet heart lychee, it blooms heavily 2 years in a row but doesn't set a single fruit. We have bees & they live it a lot. What could be wrong? I have another lychee next to it and it has fruit...
It would be difficult to recommend one best fertilizer. It's important that nitrogen be slow release. Lychee trees benefit from lots of organic matter.
@@khoichieu22 are you near the Panhandle? I'm trying to find a lychee tree locally so I dont have to get online. Also, if you bought one here, how long before it bears fruit? Thank you
Thanks for your videos! I'm really enjoing to watch here from South of brazil, where is a subtropical/ temperate weather zone. In my property i'm trying to adaptate some tropical species and if its possible there in EUA, i think i'm going be able to do it here.
Hi, 2 months ago i got a lot of blooming seeds. However we are now in mid August and I am worrying about the cold spell winter coming in a few months. Those seeds have bloomed outside in the ground. Should i digue them out and bring them inside the house. However by doint that i am sure that will kill them for good since i ll water them to much or not enough. Please help.
We have been having trouble with lychee bloom for several years. Cold weather is good for lychee bloom. Not watering lychees from October to February also helps. Some people have had success by girdling their trees.
Try adding two bags of ice near the trunk for 3 straight nights around mid december - mid january when a cold front is dropping temps down to the 40-50s for those nights and if it works you should see new growth (with flowers) about a month later
I live in Memphis, Tennessee, would that be too far north to grow them? Our winters are mild, usually no less than 20•F.. Summers are evil, temps at 100+ ,100% humidity
If you get down to 20F that's pushing it. About 4 degrees lower than Lychee likes. You could do very well with a loquat however. Loquats come from colder parts of China and are also very delicious. Combine this with a seabreeze bamboo (a clumping tropical style bamboo that grows in a circle. It will only ever get about 10 to 15 ft wide), and you have yourself a little tropical paradise in Memphis 👍 Edit: I should also mention that seabreeze bamboo is one of the few tropical bamboos that can handle temps down to 20F. Some even say it can handle down to 18F. I think graceful bamboo can also handle low 20s/high teens. Do some research. Of course all this is assuming you even want a tropical bamboo or want a tropical look at all. Lol
Thanks for the detailed information! Hope my young Lychee plants can survive a couple of days of 30F freeze!
I have 2 Lychee seedlings that have survived the low being in the 30s for 2 weeks. They are much more cold hardy than I thought.
Yes, I have one Lychee tree in my back yard. I got several hundreds lychees fruits about three months ago.
Excellent video. Growing now in middle ga in large pots, greenhouse during winter
Great information, thanks!

thanks goodness my lychee has no damages from the recent freeze.
some white bug is eating the lychee leaves. what type of pesticides do I use?

Hi there just saw this and got inspired. For a small tree. You could use that black foam insulation they put on pipes. To prevent them from freezing.
good idea
We have the opposite problem ...it hasn't gotten cold enough for our lychee trees for the past several years
@@TrulyTropical sounds like paradise ;)
works perfect ! been using it for years .

So what you’re saying is I can’t grow these in my yard in Massachusetts, but I might be able to make it work on my porch?
I have Sweet heart lychee, it blooms heavily 2 years in a row but doesn't set a single fruit. We have bees & they live it a lot.
What could be wrong?
I have another lychee next to it and it has fruit...
What soil should I use to plant lychees tree in ground ? Any practical soil that I can buy in Home Depot to use it ?
Thank you for the Temp info.
Hi, what's the best fertilizer for the lychee tree, and how often do you feed them? Thanks in advance
It would be difficult to recommend one best fertilizer. It's important that nitrogen be slow release. Lychee trees benefit from lots of organic matter.
Thanks, I live in NW Florida and they sell them here at home depot. What NPK ratio do I need to add to the organic matter?

Do you know which florida lychee varieties more cold hardy besides Brewster ane Maritius

Seedlings are more sensitive to cold than larger trees are. If you get freezing temperatures, those seedlings will need to be protected.
Hi, i plant lychee tree in indonesia, but in indonesia only have 2 weather, can the tree produce a fruit ?
Im plant too in Malaysia.. I wonder it is produce a fruit?
Hello I'm from cambodia my lychee is not plant every and it is about flower condition can u tell me how can I make it flower
We have been having trouble with lychee bloom for several years. Cold weather is good for lychee bloom. Not watering lychees from October to February also helps. Some people have had success by girdling their trees.
Does the lychee tree require acidic soil to thrive?
Lychee trees prefer slightly acidic soils.
I love your video . Can you tell me what kind of fertilizer do you use for your lychee. I live San Jose California is clay soil. Thanks
Some garden soils and watering with rice water (some time).
what type of temperature is good for lychee tree
Where’s can u buy the trees?
I have a medium sized lychee in south Florida that has awesome green leaf growth, flowers, but has never given me fruit. What could be wrong?
Ya need to wait 5 whole years
You have watering everyday and rice water, when you wash rice, save the rice water.

My young lychee plant near dying may be due to cold weather?
How cold have your temps been?
Do you grow guanaba
We have some Guanabana planted, but it hasn't fruited yet.
Lol I planted a month before the cold snap o hope it makes it
Lychee tree would not die in cold water.
Can you grow lychee in Texas ?
Mam,, i want to ask you something.. Lychee can grow here in philippines??
Yes. Plenty of Lychee in Philippines
I don't know why Americans use this frenheit scale.
Celsius is easy. Zero degree is where water freeze. very easy to understand by any humans.

So, do lychees need to plant on cold temperature? Thanks in advance
Lychees are a subtropical fruit. A period of cold weather increases fruit production
Thank you, so much
My grandma and I were planning to plant a lychee, and was confused on how to plant it, and we were grateful to see this video, so thanks a lot
I thought that lychees was a truly tropical 🌴 plant 🌱
