Very nice gesture to advertise this for him, I hope he gets the support he needs!
I'm not going to send money to some junky so he can buy more drugs from him and his mother.
@@NicksHellHole he is litterally stuck in a mold infested home getting tons of medical problems and you call him a druggie? What the actual fuck is wrong with you?
@@NicksHellHole You can go fuck yourself. Nindiddeh is suffering from health issues, is living in a house with mold, and has to take care of his mother, who is also having health issues. And you decide to call him a druggie?! Get your head examined, because it must be really fucked up for you to be THAT inconsiderate.
To overthrow this man you first need to live in a building without dangerous mold.

@@PrincessFelicie Given the exclusive nature of a lot of these cliques, it wouldn't exactly surprise me. Talking about a community that expect people to manifest 20+ year old games that in some cases had limited print- and hand cams and everything else- as though this isn't one of the most niche hobbies around. @Colby Lorenz yeah it's why I'm in 2 minds about speedrunning in general. Obviously it's really impressive and amazing to watch but im the end, it's very meaningless and at some point you need to get your priorities straight and go get an actual job.
@@benrogencamp258 Can't you speedrun and have an actual job? Those don't seem to be exclusive modes of living. People do what they enjoy. And if they enjoy it then who are you to say that its anything less than meaningful? Food for thought.
@@d-wizzel4217 I think that is ideal, and probably what most people do. Some people stream for 14 hours a day every day though, you can't balance that with work.
@@benrogencamp258 To be fair, for some runners streaming is essentially their work, or at least it and running opens up other avenues. But yeah, I see what you mean.

He was taking a depressant anyway, not a stimulant like adderall. If anything it only made it harder on himself to attain his record.
@@AshleyWilliamsN7 Haha yeah between the fact that people are whining about that and the call at the beginning where all the haters were talking shit about nindiddeh it's really a bad look for the SMS community even if they are "joking."
I can't find anyone here who took this joke seriously. There are just a lot of people who genuinely talk about the topic medication/drugs in speedruns. Don't mix them up pls.
Yeah, prescription drugs that arent being abused are fine.
Y'all, I've had those meds before. They are anything but enhancing.
one time i had local anaesthetic before getting teeth removed (it wasn't even loopy gas) and while on the meds i thought it would be a good idea to replace the gauze in my mouth which had filled with blood with tea bags. you do some messed up shit on painkillers, man. and that messed up shit usually isn't smart.
Speedrunning is alot of muscle memory, painkillers/meds often help relax the system but don't affect muscle memory. Therefore he still has the skills but no stress.

@@j_0anna I almost hooked up with a 19 year old drug dealer who was also one of my best friends when I was 15 and I couldn't even pull out of my own garage, so I feel you. I had just gotten my wisdom teeth out and was on like 500 mg of ibuprofen for a week.
Pretty sure getting a WR on opioids is way more difficult than being sober. Those medications degrade reaction time. That makes this even more impressive.
In a way, that's almost off set by how much he plays. With the moderate high, I'm sure the dude was purely in the zone and on auto-pilot. In a game with so many cycle based activities and actions he's inputted thousands of times, I imagine he was just coasting along like normal. I'm sure there's a few things you can execute surprisingly well when high/drunk sheerly from the repetitiveness of doing that action.
@@Fall_4_Autumn Oh yeah, I don't deny that the medication could have put him in "the zone" feeling good does that. I just wouldn't go so far as to say it was performance enhancing. There is a very small window of time with those medications where you can focus normally, but after that window passes you just become tired. You could tell he was pretty zonked out by the end of the run.
You just become a machine at this point, you're to slow to re-think what you are doing which can be a good thing in some case. Playing FPS while lil drunk or tired makes me sometimes go almost like i'm watching my gameplay like it's a video and makes me weirdly pretty good.
Everyone’s biochemistry is different. I got addicted to pain killers from an injury and having to take them for a couple years and opioids gave me laser focus and a ton of energy as long as I had them. The trade off was the vicious withdrawal when I didn’t have them. It’s definitely not something you want to have to take for long period of time at all but yeah taking opioids doesn’t automatically mean someone would be impaired or have a harder time achieving something. For people like me, I’d almost say it would be an advantage especially if it was grinding something to get better, for others half a Vicodin makes them puke and pass out. I can definitely say my reaction times do not get degrade at all from opioids so I’m sure it’s the same for others. It also can dull your emotions so getting nervous isn’t as bad a thing.
Again, this is just my experience with opioids and everyone’s biochemistry is different. They are not something you want to mess with at all and if prescribed only use when necessary and stop as soon as possible.
I think getting high allows you to do more things and get in the zone.
I’ve known jj for over a year, he’s such a hardworking person and a literal legend. I was so happy to hear when he got the record after watching some of his streams grinding 120 and any%.
"Hardworking"
Dedicated is a better word
Hot Brando lol if this isn’t hard work why don’t you go ahead and beat the record fuck boi
I completely understand the seizure disorder (born with it) and losing all of your possessions (Hurricane Katrina). But, I've never dealt with toxic mold or how it affects your body.
I've honestly never heard of this runner until today, but I will help with what I can. I'm permanently handicapped myself, but if there is anything I could donate (nonmonetary), I will.
Everyone needs assistance sometime in their life, and I received a lot of help from the kindness of strangers during Katrina.
I was too young to remember Katrina (I was 2 at the time) but my family lost almost everything. I really hope he and his mom turn out okay. That must be devastating.

The fact that he got the record while on pain pills is actually insane LOL
It’s not surprising. It makes sense.
@@PunkPantha pain medication can lower reaction speed.
Kaiser Emotion maybe by a fraction, but the benefits would outweigh the negatives
@@PunkPantha not really? There is very minimum benefits. Its not serious drugs that increase your ability to move fingers better
Kaiser Emotion have you ever taken a pain killer? If there’s anything they make you better at, it’s video games. Reaction time isn’t even a factor unless he’s near incapacitated. “Can” they lower reaction time? In some cases sure. Do they always? No.
The benefits would be increased focus and no nerves. Like 90% of speed running is nerves and not screwing up a run, which pain killers would pretty much knock out. If there’s any delay in reaction time, it’s completely made up in his ability to focus and more easily execute without stress.
Great video! I recently watched Trey's WR progression videos and so this was pretty timely for me. Glad to see videos that with a positive message, keep up the great work!

I love how these kinds of runs last for so long, and then just get absolutely destroyed with consistency. Galaxy 2 suffered a simular thing, where Vallu swept the entire records board for any%, 120 star and 242 Star for nearly 3 years before the wr got taken by Nemi, Mutantsabyss and Hardcore respectively. it's absolutely mental how these runs can stay up for so long
Uff I'm thinking about how much pain I was in when I got my wisdom teeth out , I'm sure the oral surgery was worse. I can't even imagine playing a game that long in that pain. I only recently found your channel and binged your videos during a bout of sickness. Not only is your content incredibly well made - you take concept that are often technical and difficult to understand and turn them into information digestable even for a neophyte like me - but it also shines through what a kind and emphatic human being you are. Because of this, I happily donated to Nindiddeh on GoFundme and became a member of your channel (both firsts for me, incidentally). Greetings from Finland and keep up the good work!
It's fascinating seeing your channel go from exclusively RuneScape content to really well produced speed running mini docs. Glad to see its working out, not many people have pulled off breaking out of the RS UA-cam scene haha. Keep it up man!!
Imagine Nindiddeh running SM64 120 star and losing every run to carpetless

Let’s get Nindeddeh back! The king just needs a quick warmup and he can get a new record
Isn't he ok now?
He hasn’t finished the move yet.
Right after talking about how health issues ended his speed running and hobby; ok how can we beat him
Diddeh’s back! He just beat his 1:14:40 with a 1:14:36 and is coming for that 1:13!
DoakeyIX that’s amazing! I’m so happy to hear that.
While the drugs may have helped him calm down, they should have been counterproductive for actual performance. I don't think taking heavy dose of painkillers is gonna make you faster at speedrunning, that should be tributed to all the time he put into speedrunning the game.

@@meowmeow10149 If you attack the person and not the argument, you have lost. Please grow as a person, before you come back.
2befair says MLB, the NBA and the NFL and the sellers of VIAGRA.
Unfortunately that argument doesn’t fly, since different people simply react to different drugs in different ways, whether they are opioids or uppers. (Especially pain meds since they can make you hyper before sedation). So, it’s a different argument for each individual. A lot of people need certain meds to function, so banning certain meds would be saddening.

Had no idea about Nindiddeh's situation. Great video and love the cause!
Relaxants are not the same as Adderal, so he's cool in my book.
I don't know if you speedrun or know what it's like to grind for WR and be on WR pace, but lemme tell you, it's incredibly anxiety producing both physically and mentally. It's like constant fight of flight and through that, you have to keep doing your best.
So no, it isn't the same as adderall, but taking away those nerves is incredibly advantageous. Experienced runners can still play under extreme pressure though, so I suppose in the longterm it's more a matter of being comfortable about WR pace runs, since nerves can cause us to perform better.
@@Valientlink shut up and go home
@@Valientlink if it's that bad, why speedrun? If it PHYSICALLY pains you to speed run, why do it? It makes no sense.
@@yosukehanamura3507 With that logic why do people have any physical hobbies at all? Maybe try some critical thinking.
@@Valientlink Not sure why all the hate towards this comment. I mean, I think I get it. JJ got the record, and the mob mentality of the Internet wants to see no mention of the fact that an opiate might produce a desirable effect for a speedrunner, as that diminishes what he worked hard for. If the context of the situation were different, I think the responses would be as well. I don't think people would object to anxiety and nerves playing a role in speedrunning. Sometimes I feel like I'm one of very few people capable of analyzing a situation without clouding my judgment with my own personal biases. If you have anxiety or pain, you can go to the doctor and get a prescription for it. That's just how it works. We don't ban people with anxiety from speedrunning. But we can still recognize the fact that taking away the anxiety can be beneficial. It's not unfair. JJ worked hard for this record, and the skills were there, but even as the video discusses, he got on several good runs during that time and I don't even think JJ would contest that the medication played a role in that (unless he wanted to avoid controversy, which after seeing some of the replies on here, I wouldn't blame him).
2:48- 3:04 HOLY SHIT!!!! 😯 That's some scary stuff.

Usually opioids would hinder a persons ability to do a speed run like this but i think in this case they helped. they probably helped jj get into a perfect state of flow. after so many hours of grinding it was muscle memory for him to complete the game. when you use a controller your not looking at it to see which buttons to press. You already know which ones to push because you've been doing it for so long. Your body and brain both memorize it. You may not be directly thinking about it but your performing the actions anyway. Basically you're doing it without thinking because its all become second nature to you. since he already knew how to execute all the moves perfectly the only thing holding him back was him overthinking stuff and his nerves. the opiods helped stop those things from happening and he entered a perfect flow state. he was so calm during the run he didnt even know that he was on wr pace. achieving a flow state like that is special. congrats to jj
How does the speedrunning world look at drugs?
Some stuff would probably help quite a bit, but it would be impossible to control.
I think it would be impossible to control their use, since none of the requirements for submitting a run would inform you as to whether the runner took something.
I'm sure people have used Adderall to help them grind/focus but it's not sustainable. Same thing with pain meds
I mean, I don’t think the pain meds did anything. I think what helped him was relaxing and not looking at splits. Not being nervous really helps
@@TopOfAllWorlds I agree, pain meds would probably only really slow you down. Your reactions are slower, but like you said, just relaxing may help.
But if you take uppers, like Adderal or something, you could really be faster. Especially on long runs.
Everybody reacts differently so we'll never know...but from my own experience a good opiate buzz doesn't necessarily make me slower. It can sort of be a weird middle ground between up and down, relaxed but also somewhat more focused than normal. It very well could have helped him but like I said continued use will diminish those effects and turn you into a junkie who just needs it to feel normal.
4:50

Weegee just got a 1:14:18
Imagine how well he could do on cocaine instead of depressants lol
Was thinking the same thing lmao
The dopamine rush on opiods can be a massive advantage and many people don't get drowsy but hyper focused and are just generally in a much more motivated and better mood. They 100% help with anxiety pain and beeing better at games they don't really depress like morphine does for example and everyone does diffrently
Nindideh apparenly tool bacl the full game world record with a sub 1:14 record congrats to all of the speedrunners of this game for being ao kind and helpful
I don't consider drugs to be a problem here. A human being is still capable of reaching those refined speeds without them, whilst steroids make someone stronger than what it naturally humanly possible.
Tales especially since if anything, the pain meds would slow his reactions down and make speed running harder. Now if he had been on something like adderall... well then this would be a different discussion lol
@@LilMarcoOG I disagree. Reaction times can be a small part of speed running. The enhancement would simply be that he's not getting as nervous after a good split. The other possibility is that it could help him default to muscle memory much easier. I don't necessarily think it's a problem, but there are arguably positives to downers in this situation.
@@danielwebb1645 I definitely agree with this. For many people, opioid painkillers absolutely remove the concept of anxiety from their mind entirely. Anxiety is the true runkiller in most circumstances, not lowered reaction times. Plus, the depressant effects of opioids are overplayed in low doses. Whenever I've had to take them after surgeries, I find them to be a bit stimulating, and I've read that from plenty of others as well. That said, I don't think this is a problem. Many people require medications that may intentionally or coincidentally lower anxiety, and banning everybody who needs those from speedrunning would just be wrong. It's a great run, and a well-deserved one.
