    He introduced Reiterate with "The most powerful buyback spell in the game."
    So... why are we not talking about Capsize?

    • @MTGMuddstah
      @MTGMuddstah  8 років тому +4

      I like Capsize a lot, but it just sets an opponents board back. Reiterate is used in tandem with the combo kill (usually) and doesn't draw games out.

    I learned through playing this general specifically that if you build your deck around your general's unique ability, without putting in similar cards to reinforce your strategy, eventually people will just start singling out your commander. I run like 4 additional spell reduction permanents for that very reason. I also stopped using lightning bolt, as it's just blah without the combo. Instead I use searing touch. Still fetchable with Firemind's Foresight. Still costs R. Still an instant.

    One of my favorite things about Mizzix decks is that can be build to win in so many different ways. I've seen so many different versions of Mizzix decks! Mizzix is so fun too when you get your combos going!

      Have you ever seen one win that focuses on taking opposing creatures? Thusly being an aggro deck with spells? I've been tinkering with the idea myself but have been hesitant to try it out.

    • @GuardianAngelEatos
      @GuardianAngelEatos 8 років тому

      No, I've never even seen one built like that. It sounds fun though. I do have a few cards in my deck that take control of opponent's permanents.

    I think my favourite win of all times was when my friend was running a storm deck, he had 11 lands and thousand year storm with 3 bonus rounds cast from it, ended up getting a storm count of like 8 or something from cantrips and cast turnabout just tapping all of his lands in response to each copy they recured it for another 9 uses and just won the game from a huge fireball

    something neat you can do is stack triggers on mizzix.
    if i cast ponder the stack looks like
    Mizzix trigger
    Ponder
    with ponder resolving before the trigger.
    in response to the trigger I can cast an instant like brainstorm, and since I don't have any experience counters yet mizzix goes off again. now the stack looks like
    Mizzix trigger
    Ponder
    Mizzix Trigger
    Brainstorm
    you can stack any number of instants like this and every one gets you a counter, leading to easy explosive plays early in the game

      That's brutal - great tip!

    • @Xdylan3131

      Unfortunately this is wrong, if casting a spell triggers an ability, the ability goes on the stack on top of the spell

      It may be wrong, but it works.

      If you control both triggers you can choose there order on the stack? Source, Feather is one of my favorite edh decks

    • @swolegolisopod7340
      @swolegolisopod7340 4 роки тому +1

      @@Xdylan3131 oh God it's been 2 years sorry for an incredibly late reply. This works but only if the second spell you're casting is an instant. The first spell puts a mizzix trigger on the stack and you haven't gotten any experience yet. While that mizzix trigger is on the stack you can cast an instant of the same cost as the previous spell and since the first mizzix trigger hasn't given experience yet you're still low enough to get another mizzix trigger. You can repeat this as many times as you have mana and instants.

    I'm new to Commander and running a Mizzix deck.
    Running Mizzix without counters is a risky idea because often times unless your deck has more money in it, an enemy can achieve their win conditions much faster than you. Holding back dangerous cards until you have 4 exp counters can save a Mizzix deck until they go infinite.

    serious feedback here: your videos are awesome and well constructed. just love em. the decklists on tappedout u create on the other hand ... It would actually be great if you sort the cards there after their function. Just like you do in your videos. Sort them after control/ removal, Ramp, Winconditions. Whatever it is you construct your imformative videos, do that as well in your decklists. cheers and keep up the good work. =)

    Instead of using rituals I use Reality Spasm. Tap your lands for mana and play Spasm to untap them, while its on the stack Reiterate it a couple of times and tap your lands inbetween Spasms. This also works untapping stuff like Pyromancers goggles.

    an older card a lot of players miss is spell burst, in a mizzix deck, it says "u, counter target spell, return this card to your hand", this card can singlehandedly win the game.

    I absolutely love every bit of your videos and have been catching up on the backlog, watching your earlier content. I look forward to more gameplays!
    I'd love to see a deck tech for a Zurgo Helmsmasher voltron build! My meta is not as competitive as yours I think so land destruction-lite but I know you'd do a great job!
    Keep up the quality content and hope for an update soon!

    • @MTGMuddstah
      @MTGMuddstah  8 років тому +1

      Thank you for the kind words! I post a new video every Monday at 11am EST - tomorrow will be another 4 player EDH game.
      I'll add Zurgo to the list! I'd had a Zurgo list a while back when I was going to make an EDH deck for each color possibility, but I've since scrapped it. This would be a fun way to look back on what I was building.

    • @mrsilverbutton7786
      @mrsilverbutton7786 8 років тому +1

      Fantastic, I'll be refreshing my page around then! If I can put my two cents, I definitely prefer the multiplayer content; it's more fun EDH experience even if just 3 players.
      And sweet! I can't wait to see what you brew!

    I use a Mizzix Commander deck with only 2 counterspells, a normal 3 mana counter spell and a Counterflux, I run a lot of combos in it so I won’t shed a tear if one or two gets countered, the deck is pretty effective and I haven’t met many people that have been able to beat it
    So yeah I think it is fine not having many counters with your Mizzix deck

  • @everythingedh9535

  • @ChadZad
    @ChadZad 8 років тому +1

    Love the video but I do have some opinions. I've been playing Mizzix for almost a year now and I don't run lightning bolt anymore. Why? Because the combo itself has alot more cards that can go into the combo. except for reiterate, the combo can have multiple cards serve the same function as other cards. For example, any card that can untap at least 2 lands can go infinite with reiterate and mizzix. Just having infinite storm triggers can be an easy win. I guess what I'm trying to get at is that I think the video could've said a little more about how the combo works and not just have cards that are only good for that combo, I'm mostly just talking about lightning bolt.

    • @MTGMuddstah
      @MTGMuddstah  8 років тому +1

      Well, I think what you bring up is a great expansion. My experience with Mizzix is quite limited, so it's great to have feedback from someone with games behind them.
      I also try to keep my primers light. I don't want to go too heavily into everything, because I feel like part of the fun is often discovering these new elements while playing.

    Perhaps boring, but Mizzux was the commander that made my Laboratory Maniac win the fastest. Enter the Infinite becomes so much better with this commander, and seeing my friends reaction to said spell + Alhammerret's Archive is priceless.

    So wait, you cast one of the cards that add a bunch of red mana to your mana pool, then cast Reiterate with buyback, then recast Reiterate infinite times to copy whatever spell you used to add red mana to your mana pool. then do the same thing with Lightning Bolt?

    I love spellslingers decks and Mizzix as a General, but my group is a bit anti-combo and I was wondering if Mizzix could also win without going infinite

    • @Legaleagle0200
      @Legaleagle0200 5 років тому +1

      You can win without going infinite for sure. You can do enter the infinite into inner fire or other mana stuff like mana geyser or brass bounty. You can do earthquake abilities to hit all opponents and yourself. You can do lots of x spells especially the new red one in war of the spark. You can do a huge epic experiment. You can use weird crap nobody uses like apex of power to pay 3 mana for 10 mana and draw 7 cards or insurrection to take all creatures on the board for a turn or mass manipulation. Laboratory maniac with blue draw and blue draw and discard and red draw and discard and wheel effects. You can copy x spells and big ones like searing wind cinderstorm a bunch

    • @jordanwilson950
      @jordanwilson950 2 роки тому

      I dont run infinite combos in mine and mizzix just gets disgusting value which is absurd fun, if you can untap twice with mizzix then the game should be almost if not done that 2nd time, almost any spell that untaps lands is worth running imo

    Ok, i've been playing mizzix witg no counter spells for a minute, no fast mana aside from sol ring (tailismans, and signets still there) and i consistsntly win even at cedh tables because of how unassuming the deck is, i recently slotted in a singular counter spell (guardianship), but i def wouldnt reccomend mizzix for a casual pod if u build optimal decks

      Just before sum1 says anything, im making it one of my cedh decks soon (probably going to make a cedh brago or yuriko) and i will be slotting fast mana and 15+ counters instead of fun cards, instead of having 3 burn spells having 1 with underworld breach brainfreeze bs
