Seeing how ridiculously fast the gameplay by competetive players is, this doesn't seem to catch that spirit at all. It's still good, though!

FierceRagnar IMHO Smash 4's main theme is way weaker than this or any of the other themes, but hey, to each their own. I still love both PM and Smash 4

Why must everybody be like "Project M is better" or "Smash 4 is better" all the time? Is it seriously that difficult to enjoy both for what they are? Because I love both of them passionately. Both are amazing products and deserve respect from all fans of the series.
I can't understand it either, I'm just as bummed over the fact that I won't be getting a Wii U anytime soon to experience smash 4's new stages and modes just as I was bummed over the fact that I couldn't at the time obtain a memory card or a GameCube controller to enjoy melee's fast paced gameplay. I tend to play games like these for my own reasons and just view the differences as something unique, Melee and Project M has speed and technical gameplay that makes it interesting, although i've grown more attached to Project M then to it's unmodded counterpart, sorry brawl. And Smash 4 is unique because it at least tries to balance between the gameplay while keeping the content, when all's said and done though these are just games and should be enjoyed as such.
They're both good for different reasons, but every other competitive player is too blind to see that.
Not just competitive folks, but non competitives as well. I've seen needless bashing from both sides where they have equally shown to display ess then desirable reasoning skills and just feel like they're so right that no one can tell them anything, It's these kinds of people that are cancers to the fan base.
It's peoples opinion.. Some didn't even play Project M lol yet thats why they say that... and have yet to try it because its a "mod" lol I know its that but its fun. them people don't see the fun facts about Project M lol
I love both for different reasons.
I'm extremely dissapointed in that whole war that's going on between elitists of certain installments.
Smash for WiiU is a fleshed out game that feels natural, Project M is fast paced and feels _relatively_ unnatural. Both are unique and great in their own ways.

you guys need to understand that project M is not made by nintendo...But by everyday people who enjoy the Super Smash Brothers series. Sure it's music might not be up to par with Nintendo's music because this was made with a computer instead of actual instruments. Yes sure this might not be Melee. Yes this is fan made...but damn it give them a chance. They worked their balls off just to get close to the spirit of what is super smash brothers Melee. They listen to what fans think of the game. They listen to complaints to make the game stable for everyone so that anyone getting into this game feels content with what it is. YES THIS IS NOT SMASH 4 BUT THIS IS A GAME THAT KEEPS PROGRESSING FOR THE FANS, FROM THE FANS.

Development for the mod might be over but it doesn't mean we should stop playing. Melee never had any updates but we keep playing it years after it's release.
Yeah people are tools like that. No one ever seems to want to accept PM as a valid part of Smash, which sucks. I like it a little better than Sm4sh sometimes.

Wouldn't you agree it would just be in everyones best interest for nintendo to just hire the team? I just don't see how it would be a bad idea. they would certainly contribute HIGHLY in making an excellent video game in all respects. they are very talented and professional at the end of the day, and it shows by the quaility of their work. They should be paid full time to bring their talent to actual nintendo games/the scene in general. Brawl is OK on its own but did not live up to the progression of gameplay/physics/mechanics that everyone was hoping for. its not a bad game, but this brings it to super saiyan level like it should have been in the first place. thats all i will say. enjoy gaming and be happy you get to experience any of this at all. peace

Nintendo could design something much better than this (by that i mean for your GAMEPLAY GAMEPLAY taste) if they just do it. But luckily they are not rude enough to force Sakurai to change his gameplay philosophy.

Project M is better for bare-knuckle competitive, while Sm4sh is better for having more fun overall with a dash of serious (sometimes) on the side.

ThatIrishBloke15 I would argue both are equally competitive and fun. I think the big distinction is that Project M is a much more tech-heavy game requiring incredible input mastery, while Smash4 is much less technical, and thus has a greater focus on strategy and mindgames.
Essentially, both have a high skill ceiling, but Project M also has a high skill floor, while Smash4's skill floor is fairly low. Which is exactly what the devs of each game wanted. That said, Smash4 competitive play is looking more aggressive and fast-paced than it did even a few months ago; I am loving watching the meta unfold. And PM has some cool options for stuff like auto-L-canceling to make it more accessible.

Sakurai only hates Project M because in 3.6 the PMDT brought back the missing stages from smash 64. They were alts of what they were similar to. Sector Z was an alt of Corneria. Planet Zebes was an alt of Brinstar. And that they redesigned the Meta Crystal. This is why I don't like Sakurai. Hes dumb as well. He banned Project M, and then saw there was a mod straight up based off of Project M. Super Smash Bros. Legacy XP. He's also dumb because he banned Project M for bringing back missing stages from SSB64 even though Legacy XP did the exact same thing. Why I hate Sakurai.

Imma be straight up this project got kind of unpopular ever since ssb4 came out but when ssb4 loses its touch people will come back to project M. I personally was one of those people who did really like project M and never left it even when ssb4 came out

***** I don't think it will make that much of a difference regarding the game's popularity. Smash 4 will most likely lose steam as people realize how defensive it is.
The Smash community is definitely struggling to cope with all the new games coming out. There are essentially 3 games competing for the community's interest at the moment: SSB4 is obviously the big new thing, but the huge Melee community is definitely not giving up their darling game, and a lot of players had just started getting acquainted with Project M. I would say PM is definitely struggling the most, since it's not an official game, there's not a whole lot of precedent for a fan-hack becoming a tournament standard, and there's always the threat of a CD order. That said, 3.5 is looking like one of the most impressive fan hacks ever made. It will always be little content-light compared to full official games, but the PM team has added some brilliant new features nobody (including Nintendo) has thought of. Even if it never reaches Melee or SSB4 in popularity, I think PM has earned at least a small place in the community's heart.
Custom moves won't change the core of Smash 4's gameplay. What is more than likely going to happen is either
1. Certain combinations will be better than others and will become the default at high level play.
2. Certain combos will be better for certain match-ups. Basically just giving another dimension to counter-picking.
None of this will change Smash 4's engine and overall slow/defensive nature. It's better than Brawl, but all it can hope for is phasing out Brawl.
***** Only so much of the game is "gimped" by being on the 3DS. Some of the gameplay and character design choices are pretty bad, regardless of console.
After learning about all the injustice PM suffered because of Nintendo and Twitch, I had to come back here.

Just downloaded PM and it is fantastic! Tho, Smash 4 will remain my competitive game while PM will be more of a casual game for me.(Yes I like Smash 4 better, but that's just me. I respect your decisions as to which you think is better. Happy Smashing!)

Sorry, I worded it weirdly. What was meant to be said is that I play PM competitively, just not as competitive as SSB4. Smash will always be competitive no matter what, for me at least, just different levels of competitiveness. Sorry if that confused anyone. Tho, now that I have had more time with the game, I have fallen in love with it.

Here we have a mod with a bigger competitive scene than its original game. RIP Project M? No. Never. Why does it have to rest? We should NEVER let it rest. That's what would actually KILL Project M! People just pay too much attention to Diddy while they should use that time to learn that you can FUCKING DI OUT OF THE FUCKING WAY.
The problem with only SSB4 competitively is that the comunity doesn't know where to go...
Fireckrakermola DI has always been a big part of the competitive scene. It can make or break combo strings, save your life, get you killed...it's important in PM for sure. But in Sm4sh? DI got nerfed so hard. It doesn't help that half the roster has a jab-lock combo that lifts the opponent *just* off the ground so that they can't shield, can barely DI during the jab combo, and all of these jab combos have a finishing harder hit with decent knockback that happens as soon as the jab-locker feels like letting go of that A button. I get what you're trying to say but DI doesn't work in Sm4sh. Either that or for some reason I'm great in all smash games but a total scrub in Sm4sh lol...I really wish jab-locks, dash attacks, and up-b's didn't get such a big buff in Sm4sh. They're annoying and totally counter-intuitive to anyone who has played any other smash games. I miss DI and tech skill...

I don't really know how to say this but, it doesn't feel like a theme deserving of Project M. Hear me out before you comment on this, I love the music itself but it doesn't fit. The entire time it played I was expecting it to get faster and a little more extreme to fit with the fast pace action of Project M but it stayed mellow and decently slow.
That is just me so don't go telling me I am wrong because its MY opinion. If you disagree I would love to read your opinion but don't bash mine, I have seen enough of that over the past few days and I will probably snap on you.
I think I might know where you're getting at. To me it felt fine, but perhaps it needed some speed up and maybe another instrument. Maybe a soft guitar, acoustic or electronic,
This is a menu theme homie. The action doesn't get that crazy when you're selecting options, unless you're speedrunning stage bans or something lol.

Regardless of how people view this game or compare it to other Smash games. The thing I always think of is that PM was made from a community. No company names or famous programmers were behind this. It was not even on any Kickstarter, it was just straight up from fans, players, forums, created by a group of people from different places with different lives and maybe have never actually met each other. The smash community is unlike any other gaming community. The work and time put into this mod it a testament to never letting a good game die, to let it live on with an identity of its own. To make such an impact that it entices a company and the attention of fans of other games. Its gained the attention that no other game mod has. There is no smash player unaware of PM. Whether you love or hate PM, that does not matter. Its the fact that its here. Its exists and you know it does. All from the efforts of a few smash-loving "maniacs"
Granted I don't play it as much as I used to but the history behind this game and the games behind its history will always be known, Its a fire to big to put out and the heat it generates blow up steams year after year and is showing no sign of stopping.
And know we have official anthem to stand by. This theme is awesome.
This is my favorite mod of all time. It took brawl (an already good game imo) and made it so much better and fast-paced. My brother and I still consider this our favorite smash game.

MultiMrGi I think it's because it starts off really loud and repeats often enough too make it repetitive. I think they should cut down on the loops in the beginning and add a buildup as well.

I think Sm4ash is the first bad Falco. Even in Brawl he was pretty good, it was the game that was meh competitively.
I think Brawl's Falco was pretty bad too. Fox was much better (better reflector, better smash attack, etc). I was hoping Sm4sh would fix that, but for some reason Nintendo thought it was a good idea to make him worse...
He is 7th actually. And I think the tiers are stupid anyway. I often end up liking "low-tier" character characters the most. I liked Roy more than Marth in Melee, and Fox more than Falco in Brawl. Maybe it's because I don't play competitively.
I'm always upset after tiers are released. Everybody starts using the tiers to measure the values of characters and it's annoying. Just because a character is higher on the tier than another doesn't mean he's automatically way better.

Close! It's a mixture of B minor & dorian (iirc) at 166; while I was writing it, I felt the pulsing twice as fast as you're feeling it. Things get really cluttered in a score if you have to use tons of 32nd notes
