- Mood is a property of verbs that shows the mood, or attitude, of the speaker. Mood is used to denote whether the speaker is stating or asserting a fact, asking a question, expressing a condition, or giving a command.
In today's lesson, we will learn about the three moods of verbs: the indicative, the imperative, and the subjunctive.
Examples are given.
I read a poem titled Return of the Subjunctive. I had to look it up and found this vid. I am a retired inner city middle school teacher. In my years of teaching, I was never encouraged to teach grammar, spelling, or correct usage. It was all whole language. I admire the structure that is presented here. Among my better teaching moments are the times I taught traditional spelling and grammar on my own, unbeknownst to the Admin. Good for you
I'm familiar with that poem. And I remember when whole language came on to the scene. We were told to put away grammar, spelling, and phonics books. Big mistake. Thank you for your comment.
Perfectly broken down and explained exhaustively .It shows the amount of dedication and efforts put into this video . Impressed by your work , really spellbound by your teaching style.

Mary suggested Carlos to work with her or Mary suggested Carlos work with her? If we drop "that" does the sentence remain unchanhed or do we have to add "to"?

In conditional statement, one hypothetical or contrary to fact , the main clause is in the conditional while the subordinate clause is in the subjunctive???

Be that as it may,fat be it from me... could you explain the uses of these
phrases
"Be that as it may" is the same as "nevertheless" and "far be it from me" is used to clarify to someone that you do not want to criticize or disagree with them.
Thanks you mam ❤️❤️
You’re quite welcome! 😊

You are expressing a wish. Thanks for watching. 😌
Is it right to say "often"?
Some people say “of-ten” and others “offen”. Either is correct.

New subscriber dear mam
Thank you and so glad to have you be part of our learning community. 😊
I love you, ma'am 💟. You are beautiful 😍
Hi mam, I have a question.
What's the main difference between these TWO sentences.
1. I want him to do it or I want him to go.
I want he do it or I want he go.
Please explain.please please
Him is an object pronoun that would come after the verb "want" and the infinitive "to do" is the direct object.
It's ok but I want more clarification about these;
I suggest him to exercise and I suggest he exercise. With little bit explanation I can better understand the difference. Please clarify it.
@@durgaraobattula143 You're better off using saying: I suggest that he exercise. The verb suggest is tricky because it's not followed by an indirect object pronoun.
I noticed that in colloquial speech people use WAS instead of were so If I was you I'd break up with her NOT If I were you I'd break up with her
By the way could you make a video on how many tenses each mood has, As far as I'm concerned the indicative has twelve tenses the imperative one and I'm clueless about the subjunctive
In colloquial speech anything goes, but I can assure you that many people use "If I were you". I'll add your suggestions to my list. Thanks!
How beautiful is that butterfly! OR How beautiful that butterfly is! - Which is correct?
We typically do not end sentences with a verb although it is not technically incorrect.
Holly Cow, it’s much simpler than Spanish. Thank you, your lessons are easy to understand.
Your pencil drawing should put on an underwear.
😂
Ma'am I can't understand this 3:28 . Can you explain it
Edit: sorry ma'am, I am from India and it's 1:20pm here. I did this comment when you were sleeping. Really really sorry.
I disturbed you.
Hi Aryan, the imperative tense has only the subject “you”. When you say to your friend “Come here” the subject (you) is implied. You are speaking to one person-singular. Likewise, if you are speaking to group of friends, you would also say “Come here” except the implied “you” is plural. That’s what is meant by having one subject both singular and plural. Hope this helps. 😊
Thank you mam
