    I went out to paint at the beach today. I arrived and realized I forgot my chair, blanket, water jar and paper towels.😂 I had water so I used a shell for dipping my brush. Anyway, it was a great day!😅

    Hi Leslie!
    Thank you so much for your videos, every time you post a new one I get more and more inspired and excited to paint again and even join the Plein Air Painting group here in my city. It's been a long time since I painted with watercolors and it feels so relaxing to paint without having to worry that it have to be perfect. You're amazing and I'll keep on waiting for more videos, thank you! ❤

    I love your mini paintings! ❤️ I have already started collecting mini art materials for future projects. Painting has been my passion since I was a little girl. I couldn't go to art school because my parents couldn't afford it, but I started when I was 13. During the revolution in my country, my family started to leave the country. We came to the USA, and life wasn't easy, but we all worked hard. Now I am 76 and live in Arizona, I self-taught, but everyone tells me that my paintings are beautiful, but even though I never felt confident. Now I intend to paint mini for I can not carry the heavy art materials like I used to. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us. You're a great teacher!❤🎉

    Hi Leslie, I just want to say a huge thank you for encouraging me to start painting for fun again. I bought myself an exciting new watercolour travel set and sketch book and went plein air painting for the very first time a few days ago and it really calmed my stress. As someone currently in the run up to my GCSEs I've found it tricky to find the time and motivation to paint for any reason other than art coursework, and while I still love painting for that reason it it's just not the same as doing it for fun! Your videos are so calming, motivational and have taught me a lot about watercolours. I hope you continue to inspire people like myself, you're the best! 💕

    • @LeslieStroz
      @LeslieStroz  Рік тому +2

      Thanks for such a kind and thoughtful comment! Plein air painting and travel sketching will definitely help your GCSEs too! You can submit your sketchbook as part of your coursework portfolio, just as an extra part of your skills portion (even if it’s just content you did for fun!). I taught GCSE Art at my daughter’s school when she took them and was also an examiner for A-level art. All of my GCSE students had extra sketchbooks they submitted- it’s totally allowed! 😊 It sounds like you’re going to do great!! Good luck! ❤

    I have enjoyed watching your videos but am frustrated that you put out a short video, titled, "I bought it for the PALETTE," but didn't include the name of the manufacturer. I checked Amazon, and the closest palette I could find was one by Mungyo. That palette doesn't look exactly like the one you show so would you please let us know which palette you are showing?

    • @LeslieStroz
      @LeslieStroz  6 місяців тому

      The first frame of that video shows all of the information about the palette. I bought it at Cass Art in London. It’s their professional watercolours in quarter pans. I don’t think they are available outside of the U.K., but Daler Rowney makes the same one. I believe they call it watercolour quarter pan tin or something like that.

    I loved this video. Because of health reasons, I’m hardly able to get out. I’m hoping my backyard will do. It’s lovely, and I think a viewfinder will help me identify many spots that will make a nice tiny painting. Your dog is precious; I’ll bet he/she is the first one ready to go when you’re just thinking about it. Dogs read our minds!

    My Grandfather was a plain air artist, his name was Walt Lee. He loved painting in the desert or in canyons with eucalyptus trees or scrub oaks. He was a child prodigy, he tried to show his art teacher how to paint clouds and getting thrown out of class at 8 years old. I wished I paid more attention when I was a little girl.

    • @LeslieStroz
      @LeslieStroz  23 дні тому

      Wow, that’s so amazing! I hear you about wishing you had been more receptive to learning from him, but that’s often the way it goes with family members. Plein air rarely appeals to younger people- they’d rather be playing outside than painting it. His legacy lives on in you regardless, and they say we hold the memories of our ancestors. ❤️

    When you wash your wristband, does that color come out of it? And also does it get into anything else that you’re washing it with in the washing machine?

    Thank you for sharing. I love how light and minimal it is, so I left to buy some watercolors but ultimately failed because I wasn't sure what are the 8 colors you're using (and my medium is charcoal and I'm not really good with color theory).😊

      I hope you try again! I have several videos showing my fav colours. I like the Winsor and Newton Cotman pocket box for beginners. Or if you’d like to spend a bit more the Daniel Smith Essentials set is great!! I use those colours in my tiny palette. 😊

    Hello! You've really inspired me to try painting outside myself. O think i got all the basics to try it out except the watercolor scetchbook. (i want it to be a sketchbook rather then just pieces of paper that i can lose) I'm short on money so i don't wanna waste on something that would make experience worse for. Do you have any recommendations for a medium (a5, a6) sketchbooks of what to look for when picking one (since different countries have different options).
    Sorry to bother you and you are an inspiration, keep up great work!

    • @LeslieStroz
      @LeslieStroz  Рік тому +2

      How lovely that you are inspired to paint! For small watercolour sketchbooks I am currently using an Etchr. They are a cotton blend, which is helpful. I stay away from Moleskine since their paper is unforgiving. But honestly any watercolour sketchbook is better than none. Get what you can afford and paint! I’ve done many paintings on bad paper; it’s all a learning experience. ☺️

But I love it and I’ll probably get more. I don’t know which 8 colors to put in, help!!! What colors do you have in yours??

      I rewatched one of your videos and saw you use DS mixing set. So that’s what I put, plus DS Quin Gold and DS Quin Burnt Orange. I was sad not to be able to put Payne’s Gray and a dark brown but I could easily get those dark colors with Quin Burnt Orange and Fr Ultramarine. Excited to use this cute little thing, and I want to get another! I will bind my own little sketchbook (with good paper as well as crap paper =). I paint small too. My smallest paintings are on an A6 calendar to document my days. Small paintings are so easy and quick and when a month is filled, I love the look of tiny watercolor paintings on two pages.

    • @LeslieStroz
      @LeslieStroz  Рік тому +1

      Sorry, I didn’t see this until now! I’m glad you figured out nice colours for yours. I love the Quin Gold and Quin Brown, but be aware that they aren’t rated high for lightfastness. My other two besides the Daniel Smith Essentials are Transparent Red Oxide and Transparent Yellow Oxide. It’s pretty good (not perfect, but it gets me most colours I want). I mix lovely grays with the Ultramarine and Transparent Red Oxide. 😊 Best of luck to you! 👩🏻‍🎨
