These New Lightsaber Stances Look Great - Star Wars: Jedi Survivor

- Jedi Survivor is right around the corner and so far in the month of February, IGN has got exclusive hands-on access to the new Star Wars game. From this, we have learned about 3 new Lightsaber Stances, which bring the total to 5. These new combat mechanics look great and allow us to use twin blades like Ahsoka, Crossguard like Kylo Ren, and even a blaster. The added variety of these stances will definitely make combat feel fresh and enable us to switch and swap our playstyle as we swing away through the galaxy far far away.

The stances seem to be very similar to Ghost of Tsushima stances. I thoroughly enjoyed it so I’m sure I’ll enjoy this.

Tbh no one has ever really done that combo in star wars. Not that I know of.
I will mostly use the double lightsaber and the dual lightsaber, it depends on the situation, some situations I will use the crossbar
I kept wondering what was different about the lightsaber from fallen order to survivor that made it so cool. I figured it out, along with the better graphics that makes it seem realistic, or possibly as a result of the better graphics, the lightsaber 'beam' or whatever it's called looks a lot more realistic and defined, so unlike a haze of light it seems more like a hot 'beam' that is capable of doing real damage which makes the game that one bit better in only that one aspect.

Looking forward to the dual wielding with the double sabers and the single-bladed stances. The crossguard seems interesting but may be a little slow for my combat style used in fallen order.
Just happy we get the option to choose our play style but I agree crossguard does seem a little slow
@@beaufaplays Yeah I hope blocking time doesn't also decrease along with attacking time bc then bosses will be difficult to defeat with the crossguard stance. But yes I also agree the option to choose and change stances is really great.

I am really looking forward to Jedi Survivor’s release. One thing that does concern me though is the limited choice you have for ‘active stances’. The entire variety for lightsaber Combat is incredible and well designed from what I’ve seen so far, but the fact I can only pick two at a time and not have access to the basic single blade on top of any other 2 stances is a bit disappointing. Someone correct me if this is possible already. It makes me wonder about button mapping and whether Respawn could’ve made better use of the D pad with either using 3 of the arrows, maybe down and either side of it, or being able to access single blade by either pressing on the d pad again for the same button once a different stance is active.
Also, whilst I understand the DS games influence on not including input layering or cancelling.. I am little hesitant to agree with this in a game where you’re going to be frequently fighting groups. So either some stances are better than others in certain situations.. like 2 single blades or 1 double blade, or the player just relies on force powers for groups.
I would want to be rewarded for reacting quickly even in the middle on my input, so that if I’m fast and skilled enough I won’t get hit whilst fighting one enemy and then dealing with another behind me defensively by dodging. Especially like in the last game where perfect evade window was quite small, I don’t see why this wouldn’t be possible.

Omg, crossguard stance...seriously, if they just returned the strong style from JKJA, it would have made a ton more sense than that nonsense.
Even though I did like the occasional realistic sword strikes with transitions from guard to guard.
How is it nonsense? It's in keeping with the lore. The blade is longer so there's more energy so it feels heavier and is more powerful.
Crossguard has been a thing since 2014 with Star Wars Rebels

Was just a combo move, they initially were going to add it as a 3rd stance in fallen order but ran out of time
But why are the crossguard attacks slower? The blade is bigger, but it's still a lightsaber, it still weighs NOTHING

Honestly I am glad EA failed with so many games in the past because they now understand that following trends is not what makes a good game. I think it has also set a new standard in gaming for other companies to follow. I think we're finally going to start seeing some more games made for the people and not for greed.

The combat looks nice, but it will never be as epic without proper dismemberment like they had back in the Jedi Academy days, where you could turn it on.

It’s so cringe seeing enemies take hits from a lightsaber and not go down. If ur a true start wars fan, c’mon ya know what I’m talking about. Enemies should be more komplex with their defenses and attacks to make the game challenging, and a lightsaber should take you out if it hits you to respect the physics/power of a lightsaber but this souls like combat just doesn’t work for a lightsaber bcuz u have to slash enemies health bars down to make it more “challenging”, it completely takes away everything a lightsaber is…
You need a special kyber crystal to even make a lightsaber, and the crystals were stolen to make the death stars, all that power bruh! BUT nah gamers need to “feel challenged” otherwise the game is “too boring”, so let’s not respect the physics/power of a lightsaber, and take away everything that a lightsaber is supposed to be capable of in order to make the game “challenging”???? And ppl say, “just play it on easy then” NO, that just makes enemies slower and stupid, now if they had advanced game settings like they have in LOU Prt. 2 then maybe that would work. I would like enemies to still be tough mechanically, but that health bar should be ka-poof once my lightsaber makes contact!
