One thing that is strange about the board game leak is the game description- instead of saying what it's about, it mentions a "huge marketing push" that's rather odd. I can't imagine that being on the actual board game😆. Idk? I would assume that description is not correct. It sounds almost Chat GPT. Also of course we see old sims 4 branding... so even. if there is a board game, idk how helpful it is In terms of understanding. what it would be?
I just want to know who the design team is. There is a group "Propsero Hall" who have done a number of good licensed titles that are fairly easy to pick up, but otherwise IP board games have a very chequered history! I still feel like I'd prefer to direct Sims fans at Dream Home which is just house building, but a very light and breezy game
I do love a good IRL board game, so I’d want both. But really, I would rather have Sims-themed board games. Like Monopoly, Life and Clue. Imagine saying: “Bella (Miss Scarlet) in the Observatory with the Cow Plant.” From this vague description it sounds too much like the video game. If I want to play The Sims, I want to do electronically.
A big "meh" to the board game; I come from a board game addicted family, but none of us has yet found a board game based on a franchise that was worth the money. Not to mention that The Sims is best as a single player experience, in my opinion, so anything that tries to get Sims players to interact while playing is unwanted (again, at least in my family). As far as the kits go, I'm reserving judgement: a mixed kit with CAS and B/B could be wonderful, or it could be aggravating. I think it will depend on the quality and number of items included. Thank you for the update!
I love board games too and also don't tend to go franchise oriented. I don't feel say appalled or angry at the idea out of context, just meh don't like the whole "big marketing push" Yeah, idk what to think of the bband cas combo welcome!
Well stated, lkwigs. Its almost impossible for me to feel optimistic in advance. More items is better as long as they look like something usable. More BS periphery fluff, (cough, board game) not so much.
The Jaws game was very good by most accounts, but yeah, there are a lot of IP projects that are just slapping a label on mechanics and hoping for the best. I'd love to see @SimmerErin compare this game when released to something like Dream Home (a wonderfully simple housebuilding game) and The Pursuit Of Happiness (which is closer to the Sims balancing act)
I'm gonna assume based on the lack of cas kits we've gotten compared to bb, this is probably a way for people to buy both without completely cutting of cas kits like they did with gameplay kits. It just sucks for those who play the sims to build and having half the catalogue filled with cas you'd probably never use. I think they only way I'd be okay with this if they up the item count 45-50, i feel like $5 for 25 items is over priced anyway.
I was kinda hoping they'd add that option in a more general school pack- you know, instead of just high school, offer different types of schooling; private school too
Since it’s EARLY, it’s safe to say the mixed das kits are going to be extremely underwhelming. I doubt they’ll increase the total item count, and if they do, it’s not going to be significantly. Also, some styles are nice for furniture or objects, but I wouldn’t want tem for cas, so I’ll be passing anyway. Also… they should just fix the damn game instead of launching 50 dlcs per year. It’s a ten year old game built on macaroni code, it hasn’t been able to handle what has already been released six years ago, and there’s no sims 5 in sight… please, just fix what we already have. Remaster sims 3 or 2, and that’s it.
I can't say for sure without seeing what they do- I could say see a monopoly with a sims theme, not so sure about it being a unique game of its own, especially as sims is a simulation and sandbox game
A Sims board game? I'm surprised it took this long to make one. There is no hard and fast rule that kits are either build buy or cas, so having both in a kit is pretty much like a stuff pack but smaller. The downside that I foresee is we won't get more than 12 items each for cas and build buy because a kit never exceeds 25 items lol Well, this news, like you said, is neither enraged nor excites me. It has been for years and strangely 2025 is no different.
imagine the mixed kits item count gets brought to 40 or 50 cuz of the cas assets. if anything similar is the case, 2025 dlc might try to finally give more bang for a buck
I wonder if at some point they need to do supersized kits. If they did an 60s one for example it would need a lot of fashion, and a lot of build objects, probably some radio stations etc. My worry (in principle since I largely ignore kits) is that the content list for them seems barely sufficient as it is. If they serve two masters I can see it being underwhelming for both CAS and BB fans
love your ideas. Yeah.. the small number of items really limits them, they could also do on that end sp's without gameplay at a reduced price- well I guess that is basically the same thing
My annoyance is than the game needs fixing but they make physical board games?! 😢😵💫 I tried to play Sims 4 via Steam but you still need the EA App, but it’s broken. So I can’t launch it. 😢
@ There’s a yellow banner that says things are loading slowly but the three dots where you should see ‘play’ just keep flashing. I can access the rest of the things on the menu, even view bundle deals but not ‘play’ or ‘manage’.
I hope the sims 4 bring better content like life and death and the board game doesn't suprise me, although we had functional board games in the game. The kits look nice and intriguing as we only have one bookcase door, but its locked behind the writing career, so its nice to see a double version. Lilsimisie's kit looks great and I like the TV stand and we need more masculine fashion, so I hope its good.
I'm excited for the kits, I wonder if they will be split evenly between BB and CAS or if it will be mostly BB and just a few CAS items that fit the theme...well I think I'm more excited/interested to see what the Behind the Sims thing will announce
There's been several life simulation games out for decades - Payday and The Game of Life are ones the come to mind. I wonder how this board game would stack up to The Game of Life. Not well, I imagine.
Exactly what I wanted... small stuffpacks... Up to now you could justify the price by saying you get exactly what you want instead of paying 10$ only for CAS or only for build & buy, if the other doesn't interest you. Now it's gonna be exactly 1/3rd of a stuff pack at the price of half of it. Yeah...
The "Big" push towards getting more sales is do to the competition coming soon. The Sims will soon up against Paralives and others. EA is feeling the heat. Milk the cow before it goes dry.
I have talked about it many times, but I also see some substantial differences (overlap too but also differences) in what paralives and I assume you mean inzoi is going for. I don't see those games making sims lose their audience tbh
I am so over kits, I mean if we have to get them, you'd think we'd get more original ideas at this point now, no? And I am disappointed in the EA Creator one; like really we have so many desks and computers etc you think she could have used her big voice to say um no let's do something we don't have yet in the game and if she wanted to go gaming route, we really have no arcade stuff. Bookcases & luxury stuff already done. I can't remember the other one at all because it left no impression on me whatsoever lol How's about arcade, street stuff, neighborhood stuff, attic stuff, am still waiting for Christmas stockings for the fireplace 10 years on... more holiday stuff in general for all the different cultures too!, Culture ones, a hobby one, a senior sims one, I know people want more infant stuff, how's about garage stuff, recipes. I mean it's really not that complicated to not at least repeat stuff over and over again imo. So far 2025 has no high hopes in any regards game or otherwise. Here's hoping a Sims 2 remaster release is maybe actually a thing! :)
I don't find the lilsimsie concept very unique, I do agree. I will say I think it's interesting to see cas and bbtogether- and I do like the passageway idea. But I agree they def have covered the bookcase idea too I initially thought kits would be more niche and unique but my guess is they are going more general thinking they will sell better
I love how you underlined the gap between 13M players and 23M followers on social media. There are probably some nuances (it's probably a number that combines all platforms... and the same people might follow The Sims on several platforms at once), but overall I think it does speak to a certain, um... tiredness. Yeah let's say that. But I understand why a company that sells board games to stores/professionals would use that as a metric : it means free publicity for the board game even when The Sims doesn't xweet about the board game in particular. If anything, players disappointed in TS4 could be interested in the board game out of disappointment ; so 23M is the target anyway. I want to believe in a DLC (be it a mere kit) that wants to add masculine fashion... but if the thing you're putting on the concept art for promotion is this jacket that more or less already exists in the game, it doesn't make me extremely optimistic. But hey, looking forward to seeing what else the Man Cave kit might have in store ! Who doesn't like a bro ?
certainly, one also doesn't know what the metric for "active user" is which I'd love to know how frequently or previously do you have to have played, or how much to be considered active? But it is interesting ..
A board game? When there are so many bugs and glitches that need to be fixed or, at best, addressed? That’s just blatantly screaming “give us money” from E
This is really out of touch. The devs do not have anything to do with cross promotion. And every single company that exists in a capitalist society exists to create products that are sold for monetary gains in order to further fund projects to acquire more wealth. In order take part in this goods for services society one must have a job & either work for the companies fueling the capitalism or create there own business & be responsible for the further advancement of the capitalist society. This is like being mad that Pepsi is doing to colab with Ikea to create Pepsi branded sofas but you are taking your anger out on the poor people who do product taste testing at a warehouse lab in North Carolina for some reason. The people who make the products are not the people to complain about when you don't like the fundamental reality that modern society is a Capitalism.
@@BusyBusyPanda You... you realize I said from EA right? Like. The corporation. I didn't say anything about the devs. EA should be putting more energy into the game and less into milking the Sims until it's dry (which... well, it kind of already has gotten to that point, in my opinion). Yes the devs have nothing to do with this. But I can still be angry at the corporation who greenlit a board game over fixing the actual problems with the source game.
@aceof_frost The devs are employees of EA so they are part of the org chart. Whenever someone demands "fix the bugs" they are not making that demand from a corporation which in this case would be EA. They are making that demand from the developers. No tech CEO is going to log into there VPN to fix a bug from home on a Sunday but one would log in to check the earnings report. So don't demand the corporation fix bugs because that is really not how it works. Every time you complain about the bugs, you complain about the devs. So yes, you did in fact bring them up.
hm, I understand that it doesn't look at good, so messaging wise, I get that but it also of course doesn't really have much to do with bug fixes, that team and so forth
I feel like the mixed kits are going to be what early stuff packs used to be. I wouldn't be surprised if it was similar in size to luxury party stuff... Not sure how I feel about it, though. I guess the value of luxury party and vintage glamour, at least to me, is more equivalent to the cost of a kit rather than what stuff packs have become.... It will be interesting to see what it's most comparable to before deciding if I will buy it.
mhm it could be- and of course, past sims games had stuff pack that was well just stuff, cas and bb. Though a difference is that sis 4 always had that hero/ functional item- maybe so- since they mentioned the passageway
I agree generally it goes the other way around with video games and movies being made of successful board games. But Rampage, Minecraft, Stardew Valley, Portal, Last of Us, Fallout, Cyberpunk, Mass Effect, Bloodbourne & Skyrim all come to mind so...
@SimmerErin Yes. My husband and I were just discussing this after watching your video last night. We were wondering what type of game the Sims is would be. What would the game mechanics be? Would it be worker placement, economy, card driven, dice, turn based strategy? It's a lot of possibilities in just the game mechanics. Not to mention who are they working with as designer? Do we know if they are partnering with an actual designer like Uwe Rosenberg or Vlaada Chvatil? Or, are they just allowing the Sims name to be licensed to games company like Z-Man or Asmodee? If a game is made by a good company I am far more likely to buy it or try it than if it is published by certain companies I will never give my money again, lookin at you Fantasy Flight!
okay but a double wide bookcase door that looks like it isn't made of plastic or indented into the wall and looks like it will fit seamlessly with other bookcases based off that image..... is this the 1st kit i'm actually excited for?
The board game I don't really care about some people enjoy it some people wanted something different good for them right? But the cas build buy hybrid kits I'm just not sure about. Play my big fear is that will get one nice outfit and then a bunch of build stuff or we'll get a bunch of outfits and then like one build item and both of us is going to make me feel like it's not a good idea. On the flip side it would be cool if they were bigger kits and then I feel like they could flesh it out more but then that would probably make them more expensive
yeah, well that's a thought- I do know they so often mention gen alpha in their earnings calls as a main target audience. I believe gen alpha is 14 years at the oldest
Ha! A board game. I think this gives me an idea for a Haunted Castle board game. All Sim contestants and audience members will receive one on Season 4's Haunted Castle. A little Game Show humor.
that could work, I suppose- I am trying to wrap my mind around that age with sims branding on it I played that game so much growing up- I actually played maybe the 1980s version? My parents got it before I was born, I tried to play a newer version ha and I went back to the 80's one. (I was myself born in the 90s)
yes. could be a placeholder (this has happened with leaks before). I do not think that is the final image and of course it is a leak that can't be confirmed as official
The older I get the less I give a f about the sims especially after the sh*tstorm that is Sims 4 I think a lot of people are gonna be over the sims very soon idk about other life sim games coming out but the sims team has buried this game deeper than I could ever imagine...it's sad
Hard pass on the board game. Nope. The bookcase door has already been done, first by Felixandre (Felixandre CC) and then by SinSimCC - both are stupendous.
A board game? Hahahahahahaha!! Please tell me we've time jumped to April 1st. Thing is, there will likely be people who will lap it up. That's the type of Sims fan EA likes and is aiming for with this. I'm often reminded of an old quote decades ago. "Put a t*rd in a box, call it the Captain's Log, stick a Star Trek logo on it and it will sell a lot."
not sure, I do know it's not uncommon for brands and franchises to do so. board games gained popularity again a few years back, and the extent available has increased
@@SimmerErin Yeah, board games are one of those things that goes in and out of popularity quite often. I wonder if being stuck in during the pandemic played a part in their resurgence.
Well, the leaks for kits are underwhelming. Not much leaked so I don't have a lot to say. I just hope the secret passageway comes with matching bookcases! I'm surprised it took this long to have a sims board game too. I like board games. A lot. But I don't think I'll like that one though. I'm not fan of the idea of it. But if a board games bar has it I might try it someday.
A sims board games makes as much sense. As when they make a theater play of a Movie or a 42 feet long sailboat in Nevada. But the kits Looks intresting. I hope for some usefull male fashion.
I'm not sure I would buy the board game based on a video game franchise. It seems very limited in how the board game can be played. But aside from that, I prefer the Sims as a solitary game, not a group game like E.A. is hoping this franchise will become. I look forward to the new Kits because I always like now content. I've been hoping we would get a better looking "secrete door in this game. The one we have now is O.K., but it doesn't look right in many of my builds. I also like to support pack collaborations with simmers and lilsimsie is one of my favorite UA-cam content creators. Have a great day, Erin.
someone mentioned it could be a metric to sell sims more as a multiplayer game, I find that theory interesting yeah, makes sense! I think many will buy that kit for the reason, which is perfect fine You have a great day too!
They should be putting cars in the base game for free for the 25th anniversary. We’re in 2025 how does a sim game not have cars and garages. And I could care less about kits, a separate board game and a galore of kits is their big celebration? Somehow I don’t think many of us that excited. Haha. We need to quit buying kits because that’s completely taken over the majority of what comes out and it’s such a scam.
tbh I'm 40-60 whether we will or won't get cars in sims 4. I do think they'd need to adjust some worlds, as the lots don't connect correctly Idk all they will share, it may be more than these two leaks.
the game looks fun, its just like it'd be more expensive to get the boardgame than the actual sims 4 lol also is there gonna be board game dlc?? I'M JOKING THATS A JOKE
I could see sims themed monopoly or something like that, not so sure about a board game about the actual game though,,, especially as a simulation game
@@SimmerErin The Game of Life feels like the board game equivalent of the sims. They should have done a Sims Life game instead of trying to build a game from scratch

I'm interested, but I know people will assume that the money could have been used for TS4 bug fixes. The same goes for other merchandise. Oh yeah, how dare we get kits. I always say it's to be expected there's DLC we won't like, but still people will argue "we didn't ask for it". Yawn.

They are making that demand from the developers. No tech CEO is going to log into there VPN to fix a bug from home on a Sunday but one would log in to check the earnings report. So don't demand the corporation fix bugs because that is really not how it works. Every time you complain about the bugs, you complain about the devs. So yes, you did in fact bring them up.
hm, I understand that it doesn't look at good, so messaging wise, I get that
but it also of course doesn't really have much to do with bug fixes, that team and so forth
Trust marketers to miss the point. Who wants a board game of a video game?
I agree generally it goes the other way around with video games and movies being made of successful board games. But Rampage, Minecraft, Stardew Valley, Portal, Last of Us, Fallout, Cyberpunk, Mass Effect, Bloodbourne & Skyrim all come to mind so...
It's def been done before, just not sure how successful. I would say it'd depend on the game and what type of board game you're making
If a game is made by a good company I am far more likely to buy it or try it than if it is published by certain companies I will never give my money again, lookin at you Fantasy Flight!
okay but a double wide bookcase door that looks like it isn't made of plastic or indented into the wall and looks like it will fit seamlessly with other bookcases based off that image..... is this the 1st kit i'm actually excited for?
assuming they add a matching bookcase....
yeah I know ha... it's even tempting me 😆 that's saying something... HIGHLY depending on how well it's done
Gonna be honest, 10 years old me would go crazy for the board game lol, but it's really difficult to imagine how it plays out.
yeah, well that's a thought- I do know they so often mention gen alpha in their earnings calls as a main target audience. I believe gen alpha is 14 years at the oldest
Happy about the Simsie kit. Thanks Erin!
Ha! A board game. I think this gives me an idea for a Haunted Castle board game. All Sim contestants and audience members will receive one on Season 4's Haunted Castle. A little Game Show humor.
I was thinking the board game would just be The Game of Life: Sims Edition. Lol. It would be the perfect board game to slap a Sims theme on.
that could work, I suppose- I am trying to wrap my mind around that age with sims branding on it
I played that game so much growing up- I actually played maybe the 1980s version? My parents got it before I was born, I tried to play a
newer version ha and I went back to the 80's one. (I was myself born in the 90s)
Gonna need to see more on these kits cause the 3 small teaser images are giving meh. I miss being excited for Sims announcements.
def hard to determine without seeing all the assets- sometimes a main image can oversell it, sometimes undersell it
The cover of the physical board game box looks fake to be honest? That's the old sims4 cover and logo that they are no longer using.
yes. could be a placeholder (this has happened with leaks before). I do not think that is the final image
and of course it is a leak that can't be confirmed as official
The older I get the less I give a f about the sims especially after the sh*tstorm that is Sims 4 I think a lot of people are gonna be over the sims very soon idk about other life sim games coming out but the sims team has buried this game deeper than I could ever imagine...it's sad
Happy new year.
Happy New Year to you too!
Hard pass on the board game. Nope. The bookcase door has already been done, first by Felixandre (Felixandre CC) and then by SinSimCC - both are stupendous.
imo, something existing as a mod doesn't preclude it as in game content
@@SimmerErin Oh yeah, I agree. Just pointing out that EA is late to the party, that's all. 🙂
Maybe the bored game is to gouge interest in a multiplayer sims experience.
Hmmm possibly!
I NEED THAT BOARD GAME
@@Elwaves2925 most likely!
But if a board games bar has it I might try it someday.
yeah! I hope that isn't an oversight (forgetting matching bookcase).
A sims board games makes as much sense. As when they make a theater play of a Movie or a 42 feet long sailboat in Nevada. But the kits Looks intresting. I hope for some usefull male fashion.
which kit do you think interests you most, the one with masc fashion? course hard to tell w/ out seeing the assets
Honestly, Im hoping that boardgame is fake news. It's so stupid. But they do need more to sell on that merchandise site they now have.
always def should be treated as a leak until confirmed.
I would not be surprised, however, if it was true. loads of franchises have done it
I'm not sure I would buy the board game based on a video game franchise. Have a great day, Erin.
someone mentioned it could be a metric to sell sims more as a multiplayer game, I find that theory interesting
yeah, makes sense! I think many will buy that kit for the reason, which is perfect fine
You have a great day too!
I do think they'd need to adjust some worlds, as the lots don't connect correctly
Idk all they will share, it may be more than these two leaks.
the game looks fun, its just like it'd be more expensive to get the boardgame than the actual sims 4 lol also is there gonna be board game dlc?? I'M JOKING THATS A JOKE
So the sims board game is basically like LIFE? Lolol
see, idk. there's basically no description here!
A board game of a game? I don't know... The kits look promising IMO.
I could see sims themed monopoly or something like that, not so sure about a board game about the actual game though,,, especially as a simulation game
@@SimmerErin yes 💯. Monopoly Sims sounds like a nice idea actually haha 😆
kits idk what to think, but I do like they are trying something new I think? I do like the sound of a secret passageway
@@SimmerErin The Game of Life feels like the board game equivalent of the sims. They should have done a Sims Life game instead of trying to build a game from scratch
@@nataliemccarthy9140 I love that game! Yeah I guess it could work for something like that just struggling to imagine it with sims branding/ what that would entail
awsome video friend
Cant say no to anything that adds more content for male simmers
hate to say it but in a way I actually want to hear you rage :)
Board game in a boring game... chi 😂
Sees title, translation, and things the community will complain about.
I'm surprised it took 25 years to make a board game. I think of The Game of Life with this. I'm interested, but I know people will assume that the money could have been used for TS4 bug fixes. The same goes for other merchandise. Oh yeah, how dare we get kits. I always say it's to be expected there's DLC we won't like, but still people will argue "we didn't ask for it". Yawn.
oh true, something like that I guess could work - although not sure what they would do with the sims branding
yeah... IU understand how people think it looks bad, but the budgets are not allocated in the same way
This is so boring 😭
😮😮😮😮
Boring, yawning, sloppy …. LAZY! I want in game stuff not this, secret sanctuary looks maybe interesting, Casanova cave too
I'm interested to see how the balance of cas and bb turns out. in some ways, I can appreciate trying something new
Yawn
Oh wow 🙄 a bored game 😂
