*Great reel, **enjoyable.fishing** recommend very smooth and I love that you can change from left hand to right hand so easily. Gave it a 4 on durability because I haven’t had it long enough to rate it. Doing good so far.*
While I was waiting for the slow cross wrap from the new Exsist, came the infinityloop from new Stella. There is no question mark in my mind about the long shot.👏👏
@@JPDeRoseOutdoors Have you reviewed ZeeBaas or Van Staal? I want a Stella but can it handle that kind of use? I actually own a Van Staal, flawless so far. Haven’t used it offshore fishing though.
Good video, good breakdown and explanation of the new features. Seems to me like Shimano is in hing closer and closer to getting rids of the dreaded wind knot with braids. For braid with a leader fishermen like me, this is a big deal. Well done.
I just wanted to say that even if you can’t afford this reel shimano makes a reel for your budget and they are all good. I have been using shimano since a quantum blew up on me resulting in a lost fish. Never been paid by shimano or received any from them for free. Just saying that they make a good reel.
Biggest things will be the technologies…. Infinity Drive, Infinity Loop winding pattern, Infinity Cross cold forged Drive Gear, Anti- Twist Fin and the Duracross drag washers.
Great video...If I don't get this Reel, 1000. it will be on my mind every time I go after Trout! Price is High but why not! Wyoming Trout, some of the best.
did they stop making the 1000FK? all i see on the shimano site is a 1000SSPG. .. did they replace it or revised it ? i want a 1000 size but confused with a FK and SSPG model ...
The FK is the generation code. Previous version was FL. Depending on the market, globally, they have different gear ratios available for each size, 1000 included
FK is the generation. The last letter (K) is the model. The last Stradic was an FL before that FJ. They are awesome for Saltwater as well! Maintenance with any reel in the salt is critical though
The Saltwater Stellas has some extra technologies to support the much harder pulling, larger species. Things like Heat Sink Drag, Rigid Spool Support etc. totally different animals honestly
Thanks for a great preview JP. And thanks also for the heads up on the Anti Twist Fin with regards to us losers who for one reason or another just can't perfect that FG knot, especially out on the boat. Not sure I followed precisely when you recommended keeping the connector knot between the roller and stripper guides . Were you saying to keep the knot out of the reel, but inside the rod guides, just above or even with the first rod guide above your reel, or were you suggesting to keep the knot outside of the guides altogether? Because for me, if I'm faced with guides so small that I'm forced to stay out of the guides and live with a leader that short , then I'm not going to use braid with that rod. But I think what your saying is your best to keep these bigger knots out of the spool because the new Anti-twist fin could damage your knot on the way out of the spool. That I could live with . Please respond because there are many of us NOT using FG knots, and manufacturers of fishing equipment really don't seem to care.
Hey JP any idea why the new expride B 7’7” heavy lure rating is 1/2oz less than the old expride A 7’7” heavy? I thought it would be the same rod with different handle
Don't honestly know, my buddy who field tested them said its the same rod with the monocoque handle so that was enough for me. Maybe the old one was slightly over-rated? no idea...
i DO NOT want to retain these new anglers who are leaving garbage (empty bags of gulp, used tackle, plastic bags, empty cans of beers, you name it) on the shore line or piers. I'm glad there are no more stimulus packages. these new anglers must go
I honestly don't think that people who want a Stella worry about the price. Same goes for people who buy luxury cars. That's why I drive a GMC and use a Curado! 😂 Works great for me... Stella is for someone who wants the best of the best in the Shimano line up but more importantly it drives the technology for years to come

Awesome review! Just bout the 1000 and the 3000 and can't wait to get them out on the water. Still hard water here in Minnesota.
Damn, I think you’re the best in the business at reel break downs. Ready to see the new Stellas in the 6000 plus sizes.
Much appreciated!
Don't think the SW models are set to change just yet.

Super informative video, nice work.
Nailed it once again, JP!!!

Awesome Video JP 🤙

JP can u tell me what is the difference between 2022 stella 1000SSPG and the 2022 stella FK 1000? Thank you so much
Biggest things will be the technologies…. Infinity Drive, Infinity Loop winding pattern, Infinity Cross cold forged Drive Gear, Anti- Twist Fin and the Duracross drag washers.
I just got a Gloomis 852 and 872 what Stella would you recommend pairing them with?
Medium power rods balance best with 2500 and 3000 sizes.

Hi, I was wondering if stella sw will have a new version since the 2020 release? Thanks
Haven’t seen anything on it as of yet but typically reels are every 4 to 5 years but no guarantee
did they stop making the 1000FK? all i see on the shimano site is a 1000SSPG. .. did they replace it or revised it ? i want a 1000 size but confused with a FK and SSPG model ...

Very useful post! Thank you very much. Do you know what is FK meaning? And is this good for saltwater fishing too?

Great explanation! 👍👍
Dang not sure which Stella to get my brother fj or fk?? Please help
Good video ❤
Thanks for the visit
May I ask what is that small almost unnoticed hidden long button on top of the drag adjuster for? Thank you
Cosmetics, the drag knob is lower profile than the previous generation but works the exact same way
Whats the difference between Stella FK, and SWC??

Great post, amazing new design features👏Will there be a SW version?
SW released some new large sizes a couple of years ago so not sure it will be any time soon

In the guides but not into the spool. So essentially just above the reel (outside). The stripper guide is the biggest guide (first) in the rod.

That’s what I was hoping. Thanks for the response and keep the Shimano/Gloomis knowledge coming lol
Thank you
One day they will step up to to Kevlar drag system like my IRT reels.
Nice! But only highgear models???
These models are for the North American market. Sometimes other parts of the world have different gear ratios but I have not seen that information.
What color is it? Hopefully it's black chrome
Chrome/Silver-ish. 😂 Not sure there is a way to name it. It is beautiful though.
So with every new model every year does Shimano change the Letter after the F?
Correct. They typically skip the letter C
i DO NOT want to retain these new anglers who are leaving garbage (empty bags of gulp, used tackle, plastic bags, empty cans of beers, you name it) on the shore line or piers. I'm glad there are no more stimulus packages. these new anglers must go
When is it going to be avaible in europe?
Not sure about Europe but I have heard late-March here is North America. I would imagine it would be the same all over
Great video, but Daiwa Exist for me.
Any idea when this will hit the US market?
No word yet, that I have heard
Just heard March (fingers crossed)
I can't believe the new Stella is gonna be less than $200?!?!
Это врядли
You can always dream...lol $749-799 USD MSRP
Very well done. Thanks,
Good 🤩👍👍🥰🥰🇮🇩
What is the price?
$749-799 msrp
How many grams size 3000 ????
201g
This seems like a downgrade from the 18 model? 2 minor upgrades and the 1000 model gets .8 ounces heavier in the 22 model 18 Stella is way nicer
There's actually 6 upgrades plus everything else the 18 had
Ercan Rulmancılık
Daiwa Shimano Reel Performance Systems.
No one talks about price tag.
