When I first saw his set against Riddles at SSC 2022, my favorite player at the time, his play was so inspiring to me it made me start playing Incin, and I've followed him ever since. He lost to Riddles' Terry in that set, although it was incredibly close. Then, at Collision 2023, Skyjay came extremely close to beating his Kazuya. But he clearly studied the hell out of both matchups. He beat Riddles' Kazuya at Summit 3-1, which is probably what gave Riddles the idea to go back to Terry for this set, but clearly Skyjay wasn't lacking on his Terry practice, since his SDI was absolutely crazy at times. Now that he's conquered Riddles' (Top 10 LumiRank player btw) Kazuya and Terry, his long-time bracket demon is now behind him. GG Skyjay. Win the tournament for us!
As you say, bro, that smash con set from last year made me bitter all day, and without a doubt, if Skyjay had beaten Riddles in collision, I would have easily stopped watching tournaments, because it would have been the perfect ending for Ultimate, seeing it Winning so consistently from someone who took away such important games on two occasions is undoubtedly very satisfying, VAMOS SKYJAY!!
Skyjay instills fear into every single player he faces down. Incin moves so slow and unassuming until BAM, giant ass hit, big ass ledge spike, badass counter. Suddenly, skyjay creates this constant anxiety within his opponent that they can be hit and killed at literally any percent regardless of how far ahead they may be.
Probably my favorite set of 2023. Explosive and exciting matchup (both players and character wise), amazing commentary and a fucking banger ending. That last 0 to death made my heart sing

Spoilers Riddles suffers from the same thing maister suffers from which is just bad habits. Maister can't help but up b or spam smash attacks at times and riddles has a lot of habits you can call out like the get up crackshoot off ledge or the airdodges to ledge off stage. Against a player like skyjay who relies on hard reads, that's probably the worst thing you could have. It's how skyjay has beaten both of these players in fact. Its crazy how much better both of these players would be if they just didn't auto pilot in bad or desperate situations.
Yeah, Riddles does a lot of bad habits that can be abused, he talks about how he plays like a bot on stream too. Though the airdodges to ledge, I can probably understand why he does it sometimes, he doesn’t want to Up B for fear of Revenge when Skyjay goes off stage against him.

I don't get the skyjay love. His incineroar is paltry without the side B crutch. He's good at the game, no doubt, but could never win without side B. Last matchup riddles got hit 3x in one stock and STILL won because he's a gladiator. Riddles works 3x harder in this match up and is 3x the player. 😅

If you have moves that last a while. You can throw them out so when Incin comes for the grab. He'll get hit by the hit box. If you happen to be grounded, you can press grab while he's lunging at you. it will cancel the grab. You have to stop moving before you can act, so it works best if you're standing still or walking.

Have you looked at all of the players in attendance? There are a lot of matchups that felt like they could not be top 128, and they wouldn't have been at any other tournament. Maister vs tea, dabuz vs sisqui, shadic vs light, big d vs sonix...
@williamlee5330 partially. I also play incin and I feel like I can't punish terry as hard as I can against kazuya. Also, neutral is harder against terry than against kazuya.
