    I paid the extra Benjamins for the Dremel Versatip soldering iron and it's the best soldering iron I've ever used! I'd recommend it to anyone, in a NY second.

    I bought this one. It looks like a tough professional but the plastic housing melt if to long on. Others on Amazon referred to that too. Good for fast and small job like circuit boards but.

    What is that blue tool used to help desolder the capacitor at about 5:55?

    • @KarlUKmidlands
      @KarlUKmidlands 6 років тому

      The tool used is called a solder sucker, or desoldering tool it uses a spring loaded suction button and heat proof tip, you can get cheap ones off ebay that work ok, and are cheaper than using solder wick.

    A good tool, but I had some difficulty getting mine to light. If you have difficulties lighting this tool there are a couple of things to try: (1) If the room you are working in is cold, heat the fuel reservoir for 5 or 10 minutes by holding it in your hand, and (2) make sure you use only the very best quality, most refined Butane. Not all butane is the same quality. Some may even contain a high percent of propane. Do not use cheap butane meant for camping stoves. Poor quality butane will contain impurities that can clog the gas jet, which in soldering irons is very narrow.

    • @JM-yx1lm
      @JM-yx1lm 4 роки тому +2

      Dude none of that makes any difference. You really think that butane doesnt work in cold weather? Cmon man. The problem with the lighting can be fixed by slowly pusshing the ignite button down until just before ignition when gas begins to release, give it a second and then continue the rest of the way to ignition. Problem is that air is in the gas line and you need to prime it.

    • @Andre_XX
      @Andre_XX 4 роки тому

      @@JM-yx1lm Mine will not light in cold weather, even when I do what you suggest. When the fuel is warmed up a bit it ignites easily.

    Great video ..... The problem is. You probably can't ever fly with it. Even with the empty fuel :(

    I ordered exactly the same iron 2 years ago, the red plastic melted really fast and the tip fell off some times, dangerous and very cheap and faulty iron.

    • @sanderverweij
      @sanderverweij 3 роки тому

      Now I ordered a Dremel Versatip to try again, hopefully some better construction and material.

      Mine did exactly the same. Thats why I came here to see if I was the only one.
      Had it running on very low heat and then noticed the red plastic flopping around. It was running for about 1 minute while I was soldering a couple of wires together.

    Problems with your wording , eg reliable ? No way from that test . Click it 10 times then score it out of 10 for a consistent flame if you dare . Five out of ten if your lucky so it is not reliable sorry . Nicely made vid, way to easy on net the cheapest iron .

    That channel should really be renamed Gearbest ads channel. By the way for the same price you can get a Weller (or Dremel or Power Probe) bought from a north american store. For the same price why buy a unknown brand from Gearbest ?

    • @kimstockdale632
      @kimstockdale632 6 років тому

      Yes, I looked on Amazon for these butane soldering irons, and I see Weller, Dremel, and Power Probe are the most popular, and highly rated. Which begs the question why dial2fast chose the relatively unknown HS-1115k over those three.

    • @KarlUKmidlands
      @KarlUKmidlands 6 років тому +2

      To be fair it looks like a good tool and is available elsewhere ebay etc for around £15-20 and the spare tips are cheap to buy, can guarantee the branded tips will be a lot more expensive and some branded tools force you into buying there refills, this one can be filled with a standard lighter butane refill can
