'A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life's Purpose' literally changed my life, trying to condense it into a 13 minute speech just doesn't do it justice. Even if you didn't enjoy or understand this video, I highly recommend reading or listening to that book. All of the concepts mentioned here and more are explored deeply and at a much more relaxed pace, making it easy to look at your experience of life in a totally different way. after listening to it I ended up buying 5 copies of the book to give to my friends and family lol! I can't even start to explain how impactful Tolle has and will continue to be for our planet.
Honestly, one of the best pieces of advice I have ever stumbled upon is to kill your ego. & Growing up truly means to be authentically who you are, down to the core...and you can't do this with an ego. Still very much learning this lesson everyday myself.
This is so great. A perfect explanation on the human condition, which is getting harder to be authentic in a modern world. Narcissism is so destructive on the hosts life. So sad so many create their own pain and suffering due to the fact they can not be their true selves. I'd rather expose me as who I truly am than live a cowardly sick life
In middle school I had a history professor who talked about how people rarely saw a clear image of themselves their whole lives up until a certain point in history. I thought that was a fascinating concept that I couldn’t even wrap my head around.
This is like 98% of the people on social media. "Look at me, I travel the world, look at my expensive material possessions, and glamorous lifestyle that you all don't have, ect."😆 It's the shallow and child like mentality of the kid with the most toys "wins". Although, a lot of them like to put up a facade, and like to portray themselves in such a way that they have it all to just impress people.😉
I used to be one of those people. My parents basically gave me everything growing up to make up for all the abuse. So I equated material things with love and happiness. And so as I grew up, I still had that engrained into my mind and lived that type of life. Until it hit me one day and I’ve been on a better path of self healing and reprogramming myself. To me, identifying ones happiness with material objects just shows that there’s a real void that can’t seem to be filled and I can’t help but have empathy for those people.

Perhaps some of them are only sharing their activities with others, as we are social animals, I find it normal to use social media to express ourselves, say what is on our minds, this can be expressed through photographs... and yes sometimes you want to show a personality, but it's more like a dialogue for me, it's not a way to say "I'm better than the others". Is it bad anyway if you want to create yourself ? It's not necessarily about superiority... I like to see everyone creating themselves. I like to see people creating beauty, expressing beauty. Just my opinion, I would be glad to know your opinion on this ! :)
My friend has a "perfect" insta life to all her 25k followers. Her real life is a massive shit show. No one knows. She pushes this illusion. Most of them do. So you're comparing yourself to lies.
When I was in 6th grade, I had an english assignment to write the thoughts of a character in a book. I was perplexed because the thoughts in my head weren't words. When I put myself in the characters position, I felt and I planned actions, not a word in my mind. The teacher and my parents gave me a hard time and that is when the negitivive narrative in my head started. Wasn't until I was about 24 that I realized I am not my thoughts and I am not my emotions. I had narcissism but instead of a positive image of myself I saw only flaws. I wish there was a word for that.
Logos. We are God expressing and experiencing Himself from eternity to eternity. We are all One. Following the divine law, “love your neighbor as yourself” logically flows from that, because by loving another you are loving that which you are. John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Logos, and the Logos was with God and was God.” Col. 1:15 “Christ is the image of the invisible God.” Col. 3:11 “Christ is all and is in all.”
Beautiful!!! The ego is a mechanism that serves a purpose, and that is, a 3 D conciusness that allows you to interact, to engage, to function in the material world. Otherwise , you'd be there standing around, staring at everything like a ghost, which is not bad, but one needs the ego to engage in life.
Just had this realisation myself the other day as I was trying to understand exactly the purpose of the ego and the answer came to me while relaxing and letting my mind flow. You put it very well. :)

Wow, what a brilliant man. I can attest and relate to all of this so well. I've been recovering from a TBI, & I've really had to practice all of this, to let go of the 'self' so I can heal, and be present to work towards a new life. Trauma is so strange, and much of it is attached to the idea of the self, but some of it gets trapped in the body. They say the brain stores memory, the body stores emotion. While you can disconnect from both in meditation, it is important to make both those parts as healthy and strong as possible because they effect your experience of life in a body no matter how 'mindful' or zen you are. I've done cognitive therapy, vision therapy, mental therapy, etc, and while it's all been important, nothing has helped and taught me like my journey of meditation and yoga has. Enjoy
Glad to hear you're improving as TBIs are no joke. Trauma definitely manifests physically and I can attest to that from the PTSD that was hanging around from my time with cancer. Yoga and meditation helped me work through when I couldn't see a psychologist. Good luck and take care with your recovery as you're doing fantastic :)
@@petite64 it's amazed me how much, PTSD/TBI's are above the majority of the medical field's understanding and on the flip side, how quick some claim to have all the answers. It's a mysterious thing that I am learning only I can best understand through bits and pieces I learn from others and through research. It's the most challenging thing I've been faced with. That's amazing to hear, while it's all been helpful, yoga and meditation have helped me in ways too that nothing else can. Finding yoga, & connecting with that community, has been the blessing out of all of this.

Thank you for this video. I had been depressed and angry for a while. To the point where I was starting fights with people that would even look at me on the street or cut me off driving. So I decided to practice the dissolving of my ego. It’s difficult because I still have those ego thoughts and I have to consciously stop those thoughts. I have found since my happiness and empathy has increased significantly. I have quit nearly all social media and are trying to focus on bettering myself through helping others. I just wanted to say it has really helped me a lot. I feel so much more at peace and connected to the universe now. I still have selfish thoughts but they slowly decreasing each week and I am getting better at understanding them and controlling them. I highly recommend anyone practice it in their daily lives.
I've been doing similar work, but if I could make a suggestion: Don't think in terms of controlling your thoughts. As Eckhart might say, see them, recognize them for what they are, then let go of them. Give no resistance, but accept them and surrender to whatever the present moment has to offer. Trying to stop or control your thoughts is only waging war with your ego, and ironically the ego feeds off that energy. You may later find that you suppressed your ego rather than dissolved it, and it comes back around with a vengeance. When you accept what comes to you, recognize your thoughts but do not allow them to form your identity, then you can be truly free. I strongly recommend Eckhart's book The Power of Now, particularly the audiobook version which is read by him.
That sigh in the middle of the video is the best... "The beginning of a Spiritual Awakening is being able to recognize a thought... It is a stepping back." A bit paraphrased. Wow profound words.
Maybe I’m just getting softer as I approach my 40s, but these videos always manage to bring a tear or two and touch a bittersweet place in my soul that reminds me of who and what I really am.
People tend to identify with the good aspects of themselves while separating one's self from the shadow side. Excepting and integrating the shadow heals the ego, allowing your authentic self to rise above.
This should be a subject focussed on in school since it is now a requirement of life to use computers and phones. People are literally losing their minds and we need to get back to basic while still embracing tech.

I had an horrible egodeath experience on Acid when I was so dump to smoke weed on the peak. It was shocking but somehow I needed to get it - because I was very depressed at that time and thought a lot about suicide. A lot of really weird shit happenend on it but in the end I‘ve got the message. I was with my 3 friends and suddenly it kicked in and I traveled through the universe in light speed. I came to a place where my „real friends“ (some alienlike persons but with the same character as my friends on earth) were talking to me that „I‘ve now finally understood what life really is. Finally! Also him woke up.“ They looked at me as if I‘ve been the only fool that didn’t get it the whole time: That everything down here is just a funny little game but „real life“ is somewhere outside of that. And therefore you can create everything here and everything you can imagine is possible here. After that I couldn’t control myself anymore and every 5min I was falling unconscious to travel through the space again. And it didn’t feel good. Later on when they brought me to bed I felt like I’m now trapped in a time loop because nothing changed anymore for hours that felt like days. I was feeling a lot of pain from all that struggle and the believe that this loop might go for ever on and I‘ve really fucked up. The pain was increasing from loop to loop and finally I got the message that the only way to get rid of *the pain* is to „let it go“. I was fighting with that idea because letting „it“ go meant the rest of life that was still in me. Finally after hours of pain I did it because there was no other way out of it. So i let it go and I felt like „Ok that’s it. I‘m dead. Doesn’t feel that bad, but it’s also sad that I didn’t lived my more on earth. But anyways I‘m already really excited in which body I will be reborn now. I hope it’s not a bad one!“ Long Story short: I woke up in my own body again. In the real world. First I was shocked because I really believed that it was finally over. After that I felt so happy to be back again in my body and in my life. I appreciate the gifts that I got for living my life now way more than before. In the end that was one lesson of many to cure my depression.
This was me before I learned to remember what I once forgotten. Or say it in a different way but I still understand the laws and the power behind them!
We try desperately to know who we are. But we can't know who we are. that unknowing is quite uncomfortable and usually rejected as worthless, and useless.

This is why I treat my possessions as disposable. I throw them away after a little while and buy new ones.

Honestly, one of the best pieces of advice I have ever stumbled upon is to kill your ego. & Growing up truly means to be authentically who you are, down to the core...and you can't do this with an ego. Still very much learning this lesson everyday myself.

@Regenal Sir Don't insult animals like that.

So the saying, "It's all in your head" is quite accurate.
Do you believe consciousness is in your head? That's all there is. :)

Col. 1:15 “Christ is the image of the invisible God.”
Col.

I wish My son could hear your words, he went through a horrible trauma and Stell suffers after 12 years.

When I was standing by the ocean..... I felt so close to God. The sky and the ocean touching, looked joined.
This comment is beautiful. Thank you 🙏

This is why I really love to go outside after being "awake", or at least how I see it, bec it would be a thrill finding another awake person.

Ego is not necessarily a bad thing. it allows u to stand behind the things u really believe in. it is all about finding the balance. being too egoistical can make u ignorant, but not having ego can let others just drive over you.
Thank dude, I felt lonely here. Your ego somehow affects the "reality" around you. You may try to do positives things out of it.

I REALLY ADMIRE YOUR VIDEO /... LOVE FROM INDIA
Finally! Also him woke up.“ They looked at me as if I‘ve been the only fool that didn’t get it the whole time:
That everything down here is just a funny little game but „real life“ is somewhere outside of that.
I hope it’s not a bad one!“
Long Story short: I woke up in my own body again. In the real world. First I was shocked because I really believed that it was finally over. After that I felt so happy to be back again in my body and in my life. I appreciate the gifts that I got for living my life now way more than before. In the end that was one lesson of many to cure my depression.
That's so interesting and crazy. Thank you for sharing :)
This was me before I learned to remember what I once forgotten. Or say it in a different way but I still understand the laws and the power behind them!
We try desperately to know who we are. But we can't know who we are. that unknowing is quite uncomfortable and usually rejected as worthless, and useless.
