If you can get to 45 fps and then frame gen on top of that can work ok imo. In star field if I max out all the settings at native 4k. I get 43 fps in the western town, with frame gen I get about 75fps. It feels not the best. But if a console can't get to 60fps due to cpu or gpu I think getting a 45 to 75fps frame gen could be a compromise that could be an option.
@@RobinsMusic That statement tells me you never used FG, lmfao. And the people upvoting you haven't either. I use Lossless Scaling's FG for emulated console games, for example, to go from 30 to 60. Visual artifacts aside - the input lag isn't that bad and certainly NOWHERE NEAR your...silly...claim of "half a second or more". Just THINK about it logically: Half a second would be a 15-frame input latency. You're buffering 2 frames, not 15, numbskull.
I would argue it is less devs being unable to optimize, but more execs pushing shit out way too early and not give devs the time to actually get shit right @@AJ-xv7oh
2022: RE is a miracle engine and demonstrates Capcom's superiority going forward 2024: RE engine is a joke everywhere other than in tight corridors Interesting pivot lol
Yea cuz they used it to make games that weren't RE games lol makes it worse everyone expected it to be amazing especially cuz they'll be licensing it out to studios to use but if it is a game with more than 10npcs and more than a 20m open space at a time it'll run terribly
@@bnbnism Has nothing to do with that lol, Monster Hunter Rise was a great example of RE Engine even with it being Switch game. The RE engine ain't the best when it comes to Huge open world games. Games like Devil May Cry and Resident Evil are all taking place in small and very controlled areas, they're very scripted too. Of course they're gonna run great as there are very few variables. Monster Hunter almost has entire ecosystems going on and they're going for a fully seamless experience, It's A big leap for the franchise. The most recent Tokyo game showcase has them running the game on a base PS5 and it hits 60 fps the majority of the time, those pc requirements might be subject to change as the game is not coming out for another 5 months. We'll also get a demo so everyone can benchmark the game on their own system
DLSS, the best upscaling available still looks like garbage to me in most games (I am always aware of the slight blurring/ shimmering). I try to avoid using it whenever possible. I would never use FSR or frame generation.
@GForceIntel I am sure you have a point. I have a 2k monitor and a 3080TI most games 70-80%, the image quality is worse than native 2k and TAA or FXAA. Some games like Cyperpunk, it is implemented very well and I use it.
Seriously, based on their recent PS5 gameplay, it look like it's rather 1080p 60fps that recommend you can use framegen with - like how Nvidia recommend framegen for 60fps
@bluack123 Dragon's Dogma 2... it's mentioned several times in this very video and is notoriously bad performance wise. The RE Engine is near flawless in linear games. Open world? DD2 was bad and MHWi has several similar red flags as detailed in this very video.
@@Zinkolo Lol, some people are doing this in these very comments. We let lootboxes proliferate as well as DLC (pretty much the death of expansion packs) and now we have this BS with more expensive cards...nah.
it was already annoying with UE5 but at the very least u can get stable FPS in games like Remnant II and not rely on frame gen, even exceeding the recommended here for Wilds however, i suspect it'll be a hitch filled experience especially coupled with whatever DRM will be injected into the game which will make it run even worse.
Both NVIDIA and AMD stated miltiple times that you need at least 60 fps or more as a base for FG. Taking improper frame paced barely 30fps and then trying to FG it up to 60 fps is a recipe for disaster.
I called it that upscaling was going to be a crutch for devs and look where we are now. Given to that many studios are going to be using UE5 which relies heavily on upscaling it's going to get worse. Optimization is all but dead now
@@3rdHalf1 it is awesome because it's a tool that's designed to be produce awesome results. The issue is how our economy functions - these games are for profit so they have to meet deadlines and release dates. That means that instead of optimization, they can just brute force games with upscaling at first, release now, and optimize later. In other words, it proves that if you have enough resources (hint: RTX 4090), you can enjoy games the way they are meant to be experienced rather than wait and (hopefully) get a more balanced title that proves itself over enough time.
Full fat UE5 with all the new features is just a monster. Our hardware is simply not ready for it, and at the rate GPUs are getting worse and more expensive and strapped for memory at each tier, who knows when it'll become reasonable for the average computer to run it. Current console versions have to disable a lot of features or they can't handle it either. But UE5 isn't just a game engine anymore. It's a TV show set production engine too, which probably justifies increasing its most demanding, maximum capabilities. A lot of it just won't see "the light of day" as reasonable game engine features if you like playing a smooth, responsive game on reasonable hardware at least for a good long while.
@@rhoharane it's not that hardware isn't ready for it, it's that developers click the easy buttons which aren't optimized and do worse in most use cases (auto LoD and nanite are especially bad)
And everybody knew this would happen. Since around 2018 increase in graphical fidelity is marginal at best but requierments have seemingly doubled or even tripled. Now it has gotten so bad devs rely on AI tech to keep these games playable.
I think the marketing is done not very well with showing off the world, they’ve shown a lot of grey looking footage but that’s during storms etc, afterwards you get the plenty which is very colorful
@@allansolano5587 yeah and that's no surprise because the frames are kept in the framebuffer until the frame inbetween is generated. so you ALWAYS have additional latency. that's how framegeneration works...
There is no benefit to frame gen at 30 to 60. It feels worse than 30 and doesn't even look like 60 because its very obviously artifact ridden. Frame gen from 60+ is great but for console it sounds bad
I've been saying that this is completely horrendous. Assuming this is only a GPU limitation and that it scales linearly, you'd need something like my 7900XTX to get 60fps medium at 1080p, which is insane. And the worst part is that this is at medium, not high or ultra, medium, meaning that there is literally no wiggle room to adjust performance, thus making upscalers mandatory. As someone that hates upscalers, this is the worst possible thing to happen. I'm not even going to entertain that frame gen at 30fps. If we're dealing with a CPU limitation, this means that if the 3600x is only getting about 30fps, you'd need at least a 7800X3D for a constant 60. So suddenly all of those completely capable 5000 series CPUs and their intel equivalent, perfectly capable of 120fps, are obsolete in this title. As a monster hunter fan, its honestly atrocious what they are suggesting. Needing a build like mine (7900XTX + 7800X3D + 32GB of CL30 6000Mhz RAM running linux nixos) just to reach 60fps is completely insane. I've been very critical these generation. In my opinion most games should actually be running at 60fps 1080p no upscaling on the base consoles, but we've seen nothing but horrid optimizations from developers, which have trickled down to PC. The fact that upscaling went from an optional tech to mandatory, is atrocious and frame generation seems to be taking that route also.
At Tokyo Game Show, the newest build of the Demo ran at (albeit unstable) 60FPS. To me, this is a sign that the game is actually gonna run much better than DD2, even on PC.
@@christonchev9762 Who the hell is talking about a 4090? I'm talking about it running with a target of 60FPS on base PS5. That means reaching true 60 on PC might not be as impossible as Capcom is making it seem.
true, and further optimizations until feb will mean it should run even better. _However,_ the final product will also have a DRM installed, be it denuvo or enigma or whatever, which will take it down a bit. So here's hoping they actually do a great job turning this around.
Yes, 100%. They should absolutely do a revision or update to this video given new information and demonstration as presented during the Tokyo game show
people love laughing about the consoles running games on 800p not realizing, that we do the same on PC with DLSS. DLSS on 1440p QUALITY 960P BALANCE 835P PERFROMANCE 720P DLSS ON 4K QUALITY 1440P BALANCE 1253P PERFROMANCE 1080P Its a general Problem with optimization on all platforms.
It's not a problem. It's simply a rational balance. Resolution and fps just have to be "good enough", what's being rendered is far more important and that's where the performance should be going.
@@_n8thagr8_63 consoles are using fsr to do it, and both consoles and PC get mostly out dated or wrong version of those upscalers in their games. @@coffee7180 and fsr is far worse at resolving fine details, particles, ghosting, anti-aliasing, upscaling from a low pixel count, etc. All I'm saying is DLSS is so good there's no reason not to use it as it improves multiple aspects of the image in ways even native can't.
This definitely seems to be much more of an engine issue, then a 'optimization' issue. Yes, you can throw them under the same umbrella, but from the DD2 sample, the RE engine appears abysmally suited for large worlds
It might be an engine issue, but with DD2 the main problem was the main city. Outside of that it ran mostly fine, so the engine at least is capable of loading things in the distant efficiently
DD2 is an optimization shitshow. RE is one of the absolute worst engines. You can like the games, nothing wierd there, but to defend this engine in any way is just copium abuse. That engine is pure shit.
DD2 doesn't have a good lod system. It loads huge parts of the map that aren't needed that tank performance in the background. RE engine is designed for small linear levels. @@LosfrogerX
You made a mistake. You accidentally made an optimization comment that included nuance and qualified statements. Didn't you mean to just imply or state outright that modern developers are idiots?
On one hand I'm glad they are transparent and say it outright about resolution/fps goal and with or without frame gen. Being honest is great. PC ports can get REALLY dogpiled on steam reviews if you have bad performance, to the point it hurts sales massively and can spread mis-info around internet. And as mentioned, AW2 had high specs but ran better.. Also looked great on "medium" in my eyes. On other hand, why is this a thing now??
So, the specs are just copy pasted from DD2. Also they rejected a December release date so they could spend more time optimizing. This screams placeholder specs because the devs don't know how well it will run yet
@@elk3407 to be fair, the last footage shown at TGS show the game running at 60fps on a base ps5 (mostly from 50-60fps). they basically double the performance between a few different build so there is hope that it will run well. Also some big content creator like maximilianDood said that he saw the game running in private on a PC and that it was way above 60 while looking way better graphicaly than the ps5 demo. so you have to trust him on that, unless the pc in question where all 4090 system with dlss and frame gen and then it mean we all are done.
To be fair, I believe the devs have said in japanese interviews that they honestly arent sure what the PC requirements are going to be to run this game yet, and since the game is on the market now maybe there is some sort of legal requirement to provide a minimum spec requirement for any game that is for sale? In which case they might have just given very conservative estimates for the time being? Could be a possibility
This is the most logical train of thought, they're in the last 5 months of optimization, and if anything looking at the TGS stage performance I believe they're actually optimizing it
@@rDuskHuntressyeah there is no way a baseline PS5 can run a stable 60 fps in a demo that was made months ago, and a PC running worse than that months after that demo was made.
yeah they said they only start optimizing the game and fixing bugs at the last stage of development (which is normal) so seeing it run on a PS5 which is around a 3060 level performance on 60fps on a really early build, well a newer build than the one we saw on gamescon but still its probably a early build (at the dev stream at TGS) probably means that they will change the recommended specs later
Good thought. With the demo coming, we will know for sure. Although sadly whatever performance you get in demo will likely be higher than the final product, because of no DRM.
@@hugo-pg5tv It's not without presedent. The Last of Us 1 Remake ran at mostly if not completely(not sure) stable 1440p60 on PS5 while it ran like poo on similar speced PCs
Capcom really should pay attention to the modding community. Both World and Rise have very simple to install mods that vastly improve performance, with World in particular seeing up to a 40-50% improvement over unmodded.
I'll just wait for a sale, maybe they'll push out some performance patches. They can't just ignore a big chunk of their fanbase who can't afford a new graphics card every other year.
Fake frames, fake resolution, fake performance, all for a premium. Sorry, spending cash on this stuff is so unrewarding right now. Might as well drop the hobby entirely because this is only going to get worse.
I feel you. This entire hunt for ever more graphical fidelity, price spikes across the board and a mantra of quantity over quality makes it really tough to justify a PC-upgrade or buy-in at the moment. Originality is tough to find. On the bright side, many old games are still being modded and run damn fine on my six year old rig. And we haven‘t even talk about emulation yet ;)
Or maybe play the games that don't have these issues? There are plenty of games that run great on PC. Go play those. Play some indie games. There are so many games out these days, just don't support this garbage with your money. Stop acting like the sky is falling.
I get your feeling, but dropping gaming as a hobby because of poor performance is dumb, unless your hobby is actually PC hardware and optimization. There are plenty of well optimized games out there, as well as extremely light indie games. And for the games that are unoptimized, sure, that sucks and will turn me off of a game I'm not really into, but I'll definitely play great games with some performance issues. Heck, before I got an actual gaming PC I put 500+ hours on monster hunter world on a laptop, playing on 720p unstable 25fps. It sucks, but the game was entertaining
Lets just hope that these specs are just a placeholder, cause if it releases like this I predict very bad , unstable performances even for high end PCs
I have a 5800X3D, 3080 10GB and 32GB of RAM...I am hoping I can run this at 1440p Ultra. I'm thinking DD2 ran like shit because of the unoptimized NPC system. I had big problems with World when that came out on PC, but I adjusted some settings and got it running flawlessly I suppose this is the price we pay for them releasing it all on platforms on launch. But given how long MHW was supported for, I'd like to think they won't just abandon it like DD2
Orrrrr their games are the style the engine was built for, and other games are making it do things that it does poorly, like dense open worlds. Or maybe it's your thing.
Not sure if they've discussed Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown, but that one is even worse, suggesting 1080p Low settings, with ULTRA PERFORMANCE upscaling for 30fps.
Game companies need to standardize their spec sheets. 60fps needs to be minimum, no frame gen or upscaling, high settings, not ultra. Recommended should basically be 1440p High 60fps, then move out from there if you want to show raytracing, 4k, etc. The minimum should be 1080p medium 60fps. If they must show 30fps, then have a potato mode for old pc at 1080 low 30fps.
After seeing the devs behind say they made Last Remnant 2 with Frame gen/DLSS in mind, I knew this was going to set a bad precedent, and it seems like both Nvidia and some devs are setting up PC/console gaming for a future where optimisation is thrown right out the window, and where mid to low range cards will outright suffer without AI. This over time will just drive up hardware prices, and the performance gains will become minimal, or worse if you're not using AI.
i remember AMD showcasing APU running Battlefield 3 or 4 medium settings at 60fps now we got discrete "mid-high end" graphics card running medium settings with frame gen as recommended...
I still don't understand how this is possible. My old rx 5600xt can run mh World at 1080p 60fps ultra settings And here in Wilds they say that same rx 5600xt is minimum spec for 720p 30fps lowest settings
Now between Ray Tracing (not path tracing), frame gen, and upscaling, I'm more than a little turned off by PC gaming and what it has become in the 6 years since I stopped regularly gaming. I wouldn't have agreed before because I understand new tech helping, but Frame Gen and upscalers are generational crutches right now, not add-in bonuses. Imagine me paying more than ever for hardware and the solution is some software making fugazi frames and sacrificing fidelity.
What are you on about, consoles are on the same page. In the past games were properly optimized for console and for pc it was usually bad. Nowadays you get the same treatment regardless of platform. Buying a pc and playing on it is still superior and much cheaper than adopting a console from sony or microsoft. For a proper pc build to keep up with the consoles, it will cost a bit more than the console itself, but then you have access to a much bigger library of games across multiple launchers (including exclusives from consoles), pay to play online is not a thing so you save money on this, along with games being cheaper on pc than console, so longterm a PC is still the better option, as long as you know what to do with it. The issue with upscalers is that devs/publishers are now cutting corners by adopting those alternatives to fix bad optimization. Third party studios will always deliver things like this and the consequences will come after that. People just need to be less trigger happy on the purchases/pre-orders and wait to see what happens.
@@CHT1992 Upscalers are not alternative, they are part of the performance target. The fact you don't accept that is irrelevant. Games expect you to upscale so they pump up the graphics more.
@@albert2006xpThat’s not exactly true though is it? You do have the alternative to turn these off,and I do in most games if not all. That’s why when I’m choosing a GPU and looking at results and FPS charts I’m always looking at the RAW performance. That’s why they say always buy the best GPU you can afford.
@@TheAtkinson118 This. If i'm paying top dollar for GPUs, I don't accept that software solutions should be compulsory. I do remember the days where buying high-end did not mean you could run everything tuned to the max, often having to buy the next-gens high end to do so, but if someone is telling me a lower-mid range card in 1080p requires frame gen and upscaling, they can get that game the eff out my face.
Capcom found perfect balance in World, but now they seem to have gone one step too far. In the span of a couple releases, we've gone from having MH games that could still run on a PS2 to an MH game most people can't run properly.
That very idea is why so many games are slop dumbed down to to run on 12 year old hardware GPU's are 500% faster, I cannot believe we can't increase the target by now.
Yea I've been saying this for years. Look at Monster Hunter World for instance, that game still looks incredible in 2024. Why do they have to keep pushing the limit with performance and making games a generation ahead of themselves? Nobody cares about how surreal lighting and textures can look on the latest technology if it means a gameplay experience at 27 fps. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.
@@蓮90 Yeah man. I put thousand of hours on MHW and literally first game boot up was mhw when i got my ps5 4 years ago. The only thing they need to improve is loading and touch nothing else
This isnt an issue until we get the demo later in the year to see how it runs. If it's like world, we will probably get multiple demos. If its bad then, then i would be worried
I thought, and still do think, that mh:World looks pretty beautiful. Whats up with this kind of degredation in performance expectation, it really can't be so visually explosive that this is warranted. And if it is, then that's not really monster hunter, imo. Were approaching the point with graphics where it becomes a choice to "max out" the technical sides of things, versus making it look good (but not *the best*) AND be performant.
Given the performance we've seen on a base PS5 at the demos, I'm not too worried. I think they're overshooting the recommended after the experience with World.
Frame Generation is for those that want to see full RT and full PT which in a game like black myth wukong.. it’s also a way of sending people who have a superiority complex towards the 4090 just to feel like you’re getting the best experience.. I have a 4070Ti super and the fact I can’t get more than 90fps native 4K should speak volumes as to how much RT/PT impacts performance in a game.
As a 3D artist I always have a field day cringing at gamerzzz™ who have no clue what RT/PT do and why they're so computationally expensive, let alone the fact that RT/PT implementations in games are orders of magnitude faster than what the full-fat "ground truth" versions with proper sampling would be. If anything - the fact that games CAN use RT and PT realtime is nothing short of a tech miracle. Stay mad.
@@TheUltimateBlooper”nothing short of a miracle” What did I write that made you think otherwise? I’m simply stating how even a 4090 the crème de la crème of GPUs (currently) struggles with RT/PT.
Frame generation from 30fps would feel absolutely awful in a game like Monster Hunter. The combat relies heavily on precise timing, and many weapons have long windup animations. It would be even worse than Black Myth: Wukong's "60fps" performance mode.
I have used lossless scaling frame gen in monster hunter world, fighting a frost fang barioth. And honestly. It works very well. From 30 fps to 60fps. And from 40 fps to 160 fps thanks to lossless scaling. It all felt incredible. And looked shockingly good too. Even beat fatalis using frame gen, beat him in one try. Its very impressive.
You can use amd fsr3 framegen, in the beta it was broken tho.. It had ghosting issues and wasn't "smooth", 80fps with amd framegen wasn't as visually smooth as 60fps without framegen, it also made the image quality look like shit...
Frame-gen upscaling does not equate to progress; true progress is achieving more performance with less power. Currently, developers and Nvidia are promoting deceptive frames. It seems likely that Nvidia will eventually mandate all output to be frame-generated with DLSS.
I am assuming the reason both Dragon's Dogma 2 and MH Wilds run so poorly on the RE Engine are due to being bigger, open worlds, and pushing a lot more environmental interactivity and moving parts than other pretty games with static backdrops. For both of these games there seems to be a lot of simulation going on that isn't as common for other AAA games. I do wish these games went for an art style/direction that would be less taxing. It just sucks that the work Capcom games do with the environmental interactivity is overshadowed by poor performance.
Id bet $20 this is a nothing burger, this should be more obvious given how their recommended specs look for other recent PC games and just looking at how the specs change here from minimum to recommended. They have MH Rise recommended specs for 1080p 30fps average settings include HW that runs it 60+ fps.
Alex isn't saying the spec sheet is weird because it was translated badly, he's saying that the people who put it together may have been focusing on numbers that Japanese players care more about. If JP players think 30 is acceptable and 60 is good, then it makes sense to build the spec sheet around those targets. Obviously western players don't view 30fps as acceptable, and 60 is the bare minimum, which is where the potential disconnect lies.
Monster Hunter is a system seller in Japan. Would be funny if this is a Japanese developers attempt to do the consoles a solid. Dont worry it will run just as badly on PC
For reference at 9:50 the game looks grey and muddy because the devs accidentally used the wrong colour profile on their capture cards We have multiple confirmation of it It looks much better with the correct colours
Even though they mention it at the beginning, I really don't know how is it that recommended specs are not a complete laugh and memed to hell, because lets be honest, they're always laughable. Either the recommended specs are way too low and the game ends up running awful with that hardware, or they give ridiculously high specs for the perfromance, in this case, a 6700xt for 60 fps with frame gen at 1080 medium settings? I'm almost sure that they made the huge mistake of forcing 60 fps with entry level cards like the 4060, when most likely you will be able to get 60 fps at medium easily, even at high with a bit of upscaling, or 60 fps native with something a bit higher like a 4060ti or a 6800 non xt, but they force themselves to give entry level hardware as recommended and to say 60 fps no matter what, and this is what they end up coming with which is...well, laughable, lol.
PC gaming started to go down hill when they realised they could release half baked cards for higher prices and exoect people to use upscaling over native Its going to run like crap especially when its runnjng Devuno or their own Anti cheat I wonder if it's supposed to be a 5600
I mean if you want devs to continue to push the graphics boundaries, we going to have to get better hardware. MH World looks and run great, but I want the next step up with destructible and interactive giant environments.
2000 hours in monster world with 999MR level here, and I felt like the graphic doesnt really look much different than monster hunter world especially if u instal the high resolution pack that they gave, still looks good but I see no improvement beside the facial model and expression
bruh Rise/Sunbreak was colorful because it was a handheld game like GU and other previous MH game. The game looks gray because its supposed to feel grounded. The environment is harsh. its the same with Mh world.
It seems this generation has been a nightmare for solid working games worse than normal, we have games that besides PT/RT look generally not much better than half a decade ago, reliance on upscaling fake res and frame gen fake frames, constant shsder comp and stutter issues, and many more all across the board
You know, I just started playing RDR2 and honestly it made me appreciate the advanced we've made in the last 5 years. It's just that diminishing returns makes it less obvious than, say, PS2 to PS3.
On the bright side, in an interview this week, they mentioned that they noticed the discourse about requirements and are dedicating a large chunk of the last 6 months of development time to optimising the game. So these specs may change when we get closer to launch. Fingers Crossed, hope my 4050 7840 hs can at least run this game at 900p 60fps
some things of note: (to my knowledge) they have only shown the ps5 version of wilds so far. the switch title MH rise/sunbreak is part of the portable offshoot series that accompany each generation of mainline games and are developed by a second team in parallel to the mainline series.
I swear this is going to run at like 30fps 720p upscaled to 1440p on PS5 and it won't hold to 30fps. All the footage I've seen of this looks so muddy and blurred. It's unsharp and has a brown filter all over it. Just for fun I booted up Monster Hunter World on my PS5 I haven't played it before but it came with that ps plus collection they had for a while. Oh look perfectly good looking graphics with a clean image quality running fluidly. Why are we going backwards. How is this blurry muddy mess in any way an improvement over the last game.
To be fair, even PS4 Pro didn't run MHW very smoothly at all - just watch DF's coverage of the Pro vs One X versions - PS5 just has enough raw horsepower to hold a solid 60FPS. Capcom has, for reasons unknown, pushed too far into graphical awesomeness at the expense of terribly inconsistent framerates and frametimes in the mainline games. Based on MHW Maybe the only way to truly enjoy this game is to wait for PS6, or one or two jumps in GPU generations on PC? Point is, this isn't really new - people just seem to forget how terrible the Base PS4/Xbox One ran the last game. All that's improved is tech to run the game since - not Capcom's ability to target hardware properly. It sucks because I adore this series, and I want to play it in its best form, and it doesn't look like Capcom is providing that for me, even on a PS5 Pro that I don't have.
This endless obsession with graphics needs to END. MH World looks perfectly fine to this day and we've gotten to the point were most users can run it at max with no issues, they could've just iterated on that and everyone would be happy.
@AbelMusa But you know that if Wilds came out and looked exactly like World people would complain about that too lol. However I do believe that would be a better choice than Wilds having specs that most people can't achieve properly. That being said they did say medium settings in the recommended and didn't mention DLSS or FSR. So I mean maybe the "low" setting is MH World equivalent 😅
The gane is a huge step up from world. Remember you are playing and old game on a new console. Wilds is completely open there are no sections and monster can be carved and continue with other hunts seamlessly while doing other activities all at once. That takes a huge chunk of optimization and cpu performance. You have weather conditions that affect the terrain and everything surrounding you. I think pc will plow through this with a good gpu and cpu. Hopefully performance gets better both on pc and consoles
1:04 well their last monster hunter game, Rise/Sunbreak runs pretty well on a low spec PC. It even runs on switch. Is there another MH after Rise/Sunbreak that I missed?
Rise was designed first and foremost as a switch game, for the switch hardware. It was exclusive to that platform for a 9 months before being ported to pc and a further year before releasing on xbox series and ps5. There are now two development teams at capcom that work on the monster hunter franchise; world and wilds are developed by the same team and considered mainline entries in the series. Rise being built for the weaker switch hardware means it can run on pretty much anything - I think ps5 and series x can run it at 4k60 in quality mode and target 1440p120 in performance mode. World never saw a release on Nintendo hardware, not due to lack of demand, more so the hardware lacked the power required to run the game. Rise is not an accurate barometer for how the next mainline entry in the series should run on pc as the game has not been built around switch hardware.
@@ldridgley I know. Generations Ultimate is the other MH I played on switch. The point is, in terms of being the most recent MH and is using the RE engine on PC, that game is Rise/Sunbreak. It is an accurate barometer because it uses the same engine as DD2 and MHWilds though a different iteration of it and they optimized it well. While worlds uses the older MT framework and released before Rise, so I can't say the same.
Ya know, I was worried about Black Myth in the days leading up to launch. But when it finally released and I got to play it, it ran exceptionally well. I’m on PC with a 7800X3D/4070ti Super. But before launch ppl were saying even with a 4090 the performance was bad and that just wasn’t the case. It was one of the best gaming experiences of my life. With Dragons Dogma 2, I played on PS5 and I’ll admit the performance wasn’t the best. If I had my PC then it probably would have been better. But even with bad performance the game was so much fun that I hardly noticed. I would prefer a well polished game but I’ll probably have a blast either way.
If any game runs like shit on a 7800x3d and a 4070ti It would be honestly be baffling, 4070ti onward are all top of the line cards with little competition (only 7900 xtx). That said I ran the benchmark tool on my 5600 and 6650xt on black myth and got 60-75fps with fsr quality and high preset.
Do you think that the recommended spec sheet was written to state what you need to match console performance? Thats honestly the only thought i have when looking at this.
That or it was written based on a beta with a lot of extra debugging and stuff going on that won’t be running in the final game. The TGS version already ran better than they lead us to believe on ps5
why all the tweaks and good programming for graphics are now lost in time, feels like all the engine advances are now backwards or maybe is just a problem of delivery/planification when they plan new products ?
It looks "grey" because it's during the "fallow" period. There will be a vibrant and lush cycle also. A big part of the game is switching between the weather conditions, and it is intentionally "grey" and washed out during the fallow.
I imagine Capcom saw the reactions to Dragon’s Dogma 2, but this game was too close to release for them to do much to address the issues. I hope they have an initiative going on behind the scenes to fix the engine, because it doesn’t do enough to justify its existence. Invest in your own engine or license one from a company that does. Dodging royalties is not a good justification for a flawed game engine.
You should just make patch videos IF the improvements are significant enough and/or bring the technical state of games into acceptable territory. If they improve it by 2 frames just don't bother, they don't deserve it and it's not worth your time.

Frame gen at 30 fps shouldn't be a thing, its literally worse than just running at 30.
If you can get to 45 fps and then frame gen on top of that can work ok imo. In star field if I max out all the settings at native 4k. Should've gotten a 7900xt for that.
Ultra settings are overrated, BTW.

Stay mad.
@@TheUltimateBlooperhow am I mad? 😂 I’m just pointing out that one GPU with the power the 4090 has shouldn’t be struggling! “Stay mad” cringe.
@@TheUltimateBlooper”nothing short of a miracle”
What did I write that made you think otherwise? I’m simply stating how even a 4090 the crème de la crème of GPUs (currently) struggles with RT/PT.
Frame generation from 30fps would feel absolutely awful in a game like Monster Hunter. The combat relies heavily on precise timing, and many weapons have long windup animations. It would be even worse than Black Myth: Wukong's "60fps" performance mode.
It would feel absolutely awful in any game. Even in a turn based strategy or a point-and-click quest.
How can "recommended" be 1080p30 on medium? Surely one would imagine recommended specs should be 4K60/1440p120 on high.
Minimum FHD30 MEDIUM
RECOMMENDED FHD60 HIGH
MAX 1440P HIGH 60FPS/ 4K 30FPS would be nice
@@EduardoTyrannyth 30fps is lame, so I wouldn't call 4K30 "nice", lol. 4K60 as a minimum.
@@TheUltimateBlooperNah 1440p60fps, who cares about 4k
A bit sad considering that Capcom said it would make the PC platform its priority.
Isn't frame generation a 40-series card innovation? If so why would they recommend a 2070 card with Frame Gen enabled, if that card can't utilize it?
You can use amd fsr3 framegen, in the beta it was broken tho..
It had ghosting issues and wasn't "smooth", 80fps with amd framegen wasn't as visually smooth as 60fps without framegen, it also made the image quality look like shit...
Frame-gen upscaling does not equate to progress; true progress is achieving more performance with less power. Currently, developers and Nvidia are promoting deceptive frames. It seems likely that Nvidia will eventually mandate all output to be frame-generated with DLSS.
Keep saying "deceptive frames" it will totally catch on eventually
Dlss 4.0 will be rtx 5000exclusive that might do that
I am assuming the reason both Dragon's Dogma 2 and MH Wilds run so poorly on the RE Engine are due to being bigger, open worlds, and pushing a lot more environmental interactivity and moving parts than other pretty games with static backdrops.
They have MH Rise recommended specs for 1080p 30fps average settings include HW that runs it 60+ fps.
yes their other recent PC games... like Dragons Dogma 2
@@simpson6700 yes where the CPU specs don't change from minimum to recommended
Alex isn't saying the spec sheet is weird because it was translated badly, he's saying that the people who put it together may have been focusing on numbers that Japanese players care more about. If JP players think 30 is acceptable and 60 is good, then it makes sense to build the spec sheet around those targets. Obviously western players don't view 30fps as acceptable, and 60 is the bare minimum, which is where the potential disconnect lies.
It's the "frame gen" that gets me. Literally why would they put that in?
Monster Hunter is a system seller in Japan. Would be funny if this is a Japanese developers attempt to do the consoles a solid.
Dont worry it will run just as badly on PC
For reference at 9:50 the game looks grey and muddy because the devs accidentally used the wrong colour profile on their capture cards
We have multiple confirmation of it
It looks much better with the correct colours
PC gaming started to go down hill when they realised they could release half baked cards for higher prices and exoect people to use upscaling over native
Its going to run like crap especially when its runnjng Devuno or their own Anti cheat
I wonder if it's supposed to be a 5600
I think I'm gonna play it when the expansion comes out.
I mean if you want devs to continue to push the graphics boundaries, we going to have to get better hardware. MH World looks and run great, but I want the next step up with destructible and interactive giant environments.
I assume ALex's is on about MHW rather than Rise, as Rise runs really well.
2000 hours in monster world with 999MR level here,
and I felt like the graphic doesnt really look much different than monster hunter world especially if u instal the high resolution pack that they gave, still looks good but I see no improvement beside the facial model and expression
The more you buy, the more you save....pc gaming is just " throw more money into the pit" hobby...
only if you play AAA games the rest of the space doesn't have this issue
bruh Rise/Sunbreak was colorful because it was a handheld game like GU and other previous MH game.
It was already running better than these specs would let on and it was on a ps5
Didnt expect games to using dlss as a requirement is weird
Medium (console equivalent) being the recommended is fine. Frame gen is not
some things of note:
(to my knowledge) they have only shown the ps5 version of wilds so far.
the switch title MH rise/sunbreak is part of the portable offshoot series that accompany each generation of mainline games and are developed by a second team in parallel to the mainline series.
Bro what 😂 I bet it will have a performance mode
And the ps5 will run it.
Capcom console optimization is great
1:04 well their last monster hunter game, Rise/Sunbreak runs pretty well on a low spec PC. It even runs on switch. Is there another MH after Rise/Sunbreak that I missed?
No shit, it better run well on PC if it can run on a fucking Switch
@@PulseAttack MHRise uses the same engine as MHWilds although a different iteration of it. Even all the RE remakes starting from RE2 uses it.
Nope he's confused and is probably talking about MH World
how did re-engine go from targetting 60fps on ps4 to barely making 60fps on a pc (actually 30fps cus framegen) they really lost their way
Ya know, I was worried about Black Myth in the days leading up to launch.
Unnecessary gloom and doom, especially from people who want to play on Ultra or Very High with outdated hardware.
Capcom wants to have their PC gamers have similar exp to console that's why they recommend that specs lol
Will I be able to run this at 4k with a 7900XTX and a 7600x?
It looks "grey" because it's during the "fallow" period. There will be a vibrant and lush cycle also. A big part of the game is switching between the weather conditions, and it is intentionally "grey" and washed out during the fallow.
Upscaling has been amazing fot gaming but also a horror. People are forgetting how to optimize and just slap upscaling on it to fix the major issues
As an ultrawide 1440 gamer im very worried about the spec requirements.
Cant wait for the day 1 modders to find some way to save us.
Really looking forward to test out the 4090 when 0:05 Munster Hunter Wilds comes out. Can't wait to fight Herman!
A title that just came out only runs smooth with frame gen active - i think its the Until Dawn Remake?
Why optimization when you can brute force with the tech amirite
Good catch, but this was expected for me. Even with Denuvo taken out World doesn't run as well as I'd like it.
If you're having issues running World that says a lot about where your issues come from LOL
This game is a deciding factor for me getting the ps5 pro, if I see no major improvements, I'll definitely skip it
If this doesn't run well on BASE ps5 then i'm done with consoles and getting a pc
You should just make patch videos IF the improvements are significant enough and/or bring the technical state of games into acceptable territory.
If they improve it by 2 frames just don't bother, they don't deserve it and it's not worth your time.
finally someone talking about this, it seems capcom doesnt learn from Dragons Dogma 2
Can’t wait to see this running on the Series S.
I didn't know FromSoft took over the Monster Hunter franchise. 🤣
Feel like the nowadays games just release 1 year before it's fully developed. So optimization just sucks.
Look at all the gameplay people. There is severe artifacting from upscaling. It’s being upscaled hard. This is no surprise
oh boy
I've a feeling these spec requirements are straight up wrong. As you said it doesn't make much sense. I hope so... I can brute force it, but most people can't and that sucks.
It's running 60fps on base ps5, and the devs rejected a December release just to spend more time optomizing
100% the specs are just wrong
@@elk3407Not quite. I saw the videos, it's between 40-60. But it's decent for the hardware anyway.
@@eduardobenassi3072nowhere does it drop to 40 fps lmao slow the video down nad u will see that.
@@eduardobenassi3072 In the dev stream yes, but they said it's gonna be 60 at launch. @@elk3407 Yeah, that's what I'm expecting. Hope we're not wrong 😬
And I thought silent hill 2 remake recommending a 2080 for 1080p 60fps medium settings was nuts...
Have you guys ever brought up that dragons dogma 2 npc ai is heavy on the cpu and character physics make the framerate tank?
I am not PC gamer can u tell me if u can play MHW with 4k 120 fps ? If u can’t why ?
Not to excuse bad optimaztion or anything but I see a lot of people say that game are now terribly optimized nowadays as compared to the past. I highly disagree, games like 15 years were much worse, PS3/360 most games were sub 720 like 20 fps, PC ports used to be much worse and an afterthought if the developer wasn't a pc focused company. Non first party Nintendo games have also been really bad. Last gen was better with more games getting closer to 1080p 30 but not always. I'm not saying nowadays is perfect but lauding how games "used to be optimzed" is looking back on a time that didn't exist
It was common for old AAA games to run at frame rates in the low 20s or even high teens. It was absolutely nuts. Rose colored glasses.
6:16 "Why not offer a reccomendation for a higher settings" the answer is telling you 1080p 60 on high will require an i9 14900k. Keeping my fingers crossed, and my wallet open.
Capcom has always been shitty with PC optimization, but this time around its criminal 😅
Rtx 5090/5080 are close so its time for game that runs like crap on everything..
Well, when you want a super realistic sand strom, thunder strom and a quake cause beacuse of a trample of giant dinosaurs prerendered while you ride a velociraptor and while carrig a huge flaming sword this are the spects recomended
Halo Switching to UE5, after even Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2. How long until these guys switch as well? Epic is going to make a killing in a couple years in that 30% game cut.
This is not something to celebrate. UE5 is actively killing legacy optimization techniques which are generally superior to their newer tech.
Nanite is a measurable DOWNGRADE in FPS compared to older techniques
UE5 games show more and more issues. i think it's actually a bad thing CDPR switched to unreal.
