Great job - thanks for posting. One of the most beautiful parts of our country!
Yes it's beautiful in that part of the country but nobody wants to live there
@@shaynewhite4545 - this county is entirely remote, I’d live there in a heartbeat but I am close enough here in Clearfield County
Lived in Cameron county for 20 years and wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world
I'm down here in Florida originally from Kentucky my mom's from PA I worked for a while in Jersey Country Boy to the Bone then all up and down this East Coast so many people just don't know what they're missing thank you guys for making this more about surroundings and everything more so than just the snake hunt definitely makes me miss home!!!
I am pleased to see you guys treating these creatures with the respect they deserve. Not stressing them out...not tormenting them. Good to see.
It’s good to see that you guys respect the snakes, the land and all the other critters. I’d never be able to sneak up on them because my suit of armor would make a racket, with all that metal clanking and banging.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ ppl
Awesome video and beautiful scenery shots. Those are some big snakes. I am a Pittsburgh guy that loves the great outdoors and fishing for our local flatheads and carp.
Thanks!
Wow what beautiful country. Just gorgeous.
Thanks alot guys really brought back memories of when i lived in southeastern Kentucky catching timber rattlers and copperheads
Great video, guys. Glad to see the beautiful country, beautiful views. I'm glad to see the respect for wildlife you've shown. Thank you.
I'm in AZ and have had rattlers in my house but never seen that many in any weekend but then I wasn't looking for them either . I'm blown away about how beautiful the terrains is there .

Beautiful landscape!
Man some of the area's that u guys we're fishing in looked a little like Alaska... Really cool thanks for sharing..
Tell Sweeney to ease up not the grip he about cut his first sneak in two!
Great video
I lived in North Hills as a kid. The wildlife was everywhere. I practically lived in the woods playing every day.
Yes we enjoyed the ride. Those newcomers did well. When that said......I am glad we don't have rattlers in Norway as they looks big and aggressive and I am glad I don't need to handle them.
All in all a well made video.
Greets and thumbs up.
I am facinated by your snake hint videos, I am personally not a fan of snakes, that is, I prefer them not be near me as they prefer I not be near them. I've had a couple butt puckering encounters with snakes I could only hear, not see. We don't have the big 50 inch timber rattlers out here in Oregon, but even a 15 or 20 inch rattler that's sounding off is enough to make me stop dead in my tracks. You guys walking calmly through tall grass, thick brush, and walking right up to groups of basking snakes is not something I think I'd ever do, but damned if I can't stop watching you and your friends doing it.
You do a great job of showing a multitude of sporting traditions, certainly glad I found your channel recently.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the video!
You guys should get a few sponsors and put together a show, I’ve never heard of rattle snake hunting like this.
I really enjoyed it, very professional too 👍
Thanks for making this video! I love snakes and I think this video will help save a few snakes live in the future because of your teaching! I always hate when people kill them for no reason whatsoever. They do more good than harm --that's for sure! And as you show in the video, they would rather get (run) away from you than turn & bite you. I live in the 'Burgh burbs and it always surprises me each time I see the size of the rattlesnakes just up the road aways in the "mountains"
Now this looks like something ide like to get into. Growing up we had a camp in erie and you could always find me lifting rocks and catching snakes at any given time down in the creeks, but no rattlesnakes. Thankfully haha.
You guys are getting me interested in this I might have to get my license and go one of these years
I really enjoyed the video.
I believe they were democrats....they just laid around and made a lot of noise.
What do you do with them when caught?
@@richard21995 you can eat them or some people sell them to the people who make antivenom for hospitals
Wow........talk about the great outdoors......this is it. Great video and beautiful scenery! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks!
Great video as always thanks for posting.
Guys thanks for the PR plug for Lakeview Cabins. You guys are always welcome here. Thanks again, and great footage and show as always. Be safe!
You're welcome! Thanks!
I really enjoyed this video, it is very informative. Greetings from Montana
This is amazing, I spend a lot of time outside, rock climbing, mt biking, hiking etc. and I have never seen a copperhead or rattlesnake. They are really beautiful and much respect for being good hunters and treating these beautiful animals with the respect they deserve. That area of Pa. looks really beautiful, my kind of place. You guys are brave as I am little afraid of snakes and you all handled them well. Take care and happy hunting.
You’ve probably walked past 100 of them. Their camouflage is so well you wouldn’t see them if they were right in front of you looking
@@mac11daddy6 So true. Take care
This is just crazy to me. Who knew PA had so many rattle snakes!!!! Holy Cow!
They have the most timber rattlers anywheres in the world
As a lover of all God's creation, I just wanted to say I enjoy your videos. Rattlers are incredibly interesting snakes. Stay safe and keep healthy!
Beautiful video, not a fan of snakes but was fascinated by the way John teaches. I am surprised they not more aggressive. They just wanted to get away. I like the respect you all show for the snake. Good job guys.
Thanks!
Most snakes are not aggressive. Fear.mongering from past generations have spead huge falshoods and created irrational hate.
They were cold.
What a fun trip. Great video. Beautiful scenery too. Man I just loved the black headed snake
Good job everyone on your snakes they good and I love ur content
I love that part of Pennsylvania it's so beautiful I have a camp near Dubois pa
I live in NE PA cant tell you how many times I been fishing enjoying the day when you hear that distinct rattle.....it gives me chills every time. Thank God they arent aggressive or I'd a been dead long ago...lol
I did not realize there are that many rattlesnakes in PA.
I am from Emporium in Cameron County but now live in Virginia. Next time you go up there go to Horseshoe curve on Keating Summit. There is a huge shale slide covering the side of the mountain. Used to be Copperheads above the road and rattlers below.
Great video! Plus, you showed people the correct and legal way to hunt snakes in the great state of Pennsylvania.
Hi great rattler video just found you guys i live in Beverly Hills no snakes only 2 legged ones lol But i have a ranch out in Sierra Vista Cochise County edges the desert we get Western Diamond Backs come in from the desert horse let you know they are around .. my wranglers are Ciricauhua Apache Indians they handle snakes its second nature to them learn from an early age respect their presence ..}} i have witnessed a snake dance {{ a dream catcher }} they dance holding live rattlers each dancer holding maybe 2-3-or 4 snakes all diamond backs the snakes seem to be in a trance }} they are not drugged in any way all you can hear is the beat of a Apache War Drum and a Chef medicine man chant}} its eerie must be seen to be believed OK your videos are great thanks for the posting .....Ed

You gotta stop killing these . they are endangered and going extinct.
Yea they sure look endangered to me . Wacky liberals always talking and don’t know shit.

Man You Guys, had a Good Couple of Days!,Got me interested in it!,Thanks,Beautiful Country Too!
Our rattlesnakes in the Panhandle of Texas have stopped rattling. People say that it is in response to the wild hogs we have. It is a scary situation because they are so very well camouflaged you can almost step on them. Usually the dogs point them out before I see them.
Mary Frederickson That's Fucked-Up as Hell!! Sorry for foul language on tender ears but them damn hogs should've been GONE! I know it's big business for some, good eatin, all that stuff or whatever... My Goodness, if y'all wanted them gone bad enough they'd be scarce as hen's teeth already! They're not native an they're Very destructive to fragile thing's yet discovered or Not discovered by the Right People yet. It may be TOO LATE when it's found out. Do y'all have gensing, bloodroot, orchid's of rare finding's... It WILL Be gone before you know it, If Not Already. Im not talking crap or tryin to be a dick (prob sounds like), just super concerned about fragile Native species. We've got'em coming in from the East, outa a county called Caswell Co. NC. Most Big Buck hunters have hunted or heard of Caswell an it's hunting. Whatever you Hunt really Caswell has it, as far as quail, dove, turkey, bear, deer. They've gamelands only certain time's hunting is allowed, its HUGE woodlands too probably quessing 15by15 mile's in diameters wide, I've seen from above in a plane, beaver dam's going for hundreds of yards wide. It's almost breathe taking to think about it.. Ivr seen it, Ran deer dog's all over it in the mid 80's ,scariest thing ever to happen to me while on a hunt 30 miles from my house now, Not in Saskatchewan, Right next door really, anyway My Best Friend from Middle School they call it Now but we where ,by all intense and purpose already grown men, Drove big rigs to haul tobacco to the action houses, Drove Bull Dozzer's on the farm, tri-axle dump trucks. We where 13 an 14 year's Old... Anyway, craziest thing ever happen on a hunt was. We'd been training 3 Redtick hounds ad we called it "to run Bucks Only" an we had been pretty lucky gambling with the Older Guy's at the Hunting Club so far. Wr took the pup's an by pup's I mean 1 or 1an a half year old dog's, they're strong but still stupid. We went about a mile down a Creek called Hogan's Creek Very Big Woods, Very Big Creek, anyway I took the dog's around behind what we expected to be bedding for deer, turned loose an hauled ass back around to my Bud Chris Scott, born an breed in these woods an in Caswell Co. NC. Wr heard the jump! Something didnt sound right to me, but I'm a 14 Year old Kid an Green as they come... I jumped down off pick up truck, clicked safety off my Rimington 1100, coming an coming Fast.. Suddenly I Heard strange sound coming from Chris, My partner, My Besty, My Homey, My Bro frm anthr Ma. He was jumping in the truck, cranking the truck laughing so hard I thought he'd started drinking early without me... I DIDNT KNOW WHAT TO THINK?? Then I Heard that different sound coming from them pup's AGAIN.. ..Really close this time, I was thinking Chris is going around in Case they turn an come thru the pines instead of the hardwoods where I'm standing with a shotgun loaded with slug, buckshot, slug, buckshot, slug no plug in because it's legal... Suddenly I HEARD THEM BASTARD'S COMING,I could smell'em before I saw them. I had the cognitive ability to think in a milli-second, I've got a 12guage shotgun 2 pockets full of shell's... Am I scared or can I be a badass an kill'em all. I'd never even seen wild hogs in my life, an only heard story's That I didn't necessarily believe in the 1st place... I was starting to look around for the truck an Chris was Blue an Red LAUGHING SO HARD, pulling away from me an pointing up into the tree's... I turned around about Time a hog, Black an Red lookin snarling an foaming at the mouth, Busted through That brush..
Probably 40yards away or so. Looked like 5 yards to Me...?! BIG as he was! 2nd thoughts thru my mind, Bust his ass,No closed season, No bag limit! I swear, that's what I thought about 2nd. . After my second or Third shot... And I could see fur flyin in every Direction behind him.. I had, No doubts about my aim, until I started reloading another shell into my shotgun, for it was empty already and My Little spot in the Woods was getting full of hogs an squelling Little pig's an stinking bloody hounds.... I wanted to be in a deer stand or in a truck, More an More! Mili-second by Mili-second I was wondering How Chris knew So Soon after the Jump.... an then amble over to the truck and pull away from me... HAHA, SO FUNNY! if I live Boy I'ma bust Your ass with 1 or 2 these useless shot shell's.... They sure don't work on hogs anyway! I'd killed 3 an didn't know it, took awhile for'em to die .I didn't know that either.y First encounter with a herd of pig's being chased by hounds. I'll Not Ever Forget It! It's better to be OFF the Ground!
.
No they stopped rattling because of people collecting them for roundups.
ExoticLuck I'm seriously doubting they are That intelligent to Know people come out to collect an kill'em... I mean damn it's a Snake.. I'm positive an never been in The Great State of Texas Yet... But I'm not Dead yet either, I'll be there 1 day... Maybe to Stay.. Anyway, I'm willing to Bet some or lotsa those snake's have Never seen a person. Especially in the Tall & Uncut place's, I assume Texas still has s few... We do here in Carolina ..an Texas is a TAD BIGGER, LOL! They're not atuned to the People's of Texas, they're used to getting the whole pack or covey or whatever A Big pile of snakes is cslled downthere. Hogs is Eaten them Up an a hog will get hic-ups from a Rattler maybe... Msy be Just a fart is all a Belly full of venom will fo to s hog... They can eat Old Trash tin cans, glass bottles an ALL!
michael hedgepeth nope its in several articles and herp channels . dens that experience illegal collectors don't rattle. I've seen it personally.
Hogs EAT them. Why ring your own dinner bell?
Truly a very good video!
Thanks!
Nice to see another Leatherwood out there. Keep it up boys!
That place is so beautiful!
What a really cool vid !! We got some big rattlers here in wv . What beautiful country your in also
Wow, I grew up in north pgh around north park lake. Never knew there were so many rattlers in those woods. Saw a copperhead and black snakes at summer camp (Camp Kon-O-Kwee!!!) Some of those mtn views reminded me of Deer Hunter. Might I recommend some Sicilian slices from Mama Lucia's upon arrival back to the 'burgh... thanks for the great vid... Go Steelers!!!
Wait you went to Kon o Kwee???? Did you go to Deer Valley with the Teen Wilderness group because I went there two years and we came across two rattlers while we were gone for the week in Deer Valley
@@tdjkhazard4522 yes! Did Deer Valley many times, the Kinzu Dam Canoe Trip, and the Appalachian Trail hike/ Ohiopyle Rafting. At Deer Valley I was told I was part of the last camp to go over to the old grave yard at night.... it was mayhem... never saw a rattler... I looked a while ago and to do the adventure trips (Hiking/Canoe) campers have to be in 9th or 10th grade? When I went 6th grade was the earliest a camper could sign up and i lied when i was in 5th grade to go on the Kinzu and Appalachian trips.... 9th grade..c'mon man! Peace!
It looks like alot of fun. The Alleghenies on the other side of the mason Dixon line in pa looks just like it does where I'm from in wv and I remember walking through the hills and occasionally seeing timber rattlers and copperheads but it's rare unless you know where to look because they are wanting to avoid us
You guys are awesome! Reminds me of Northern Michigan ,and the UP.

I use to hunt Pennsylvania when I was younger and never realized there was rattlesnakes and that there were so many. We use to find those kind of rock structures just to sit on and eat our lunch.
I'm an avid outdoors guy and I live in the Burgh. I prefer to leave snake be but this was interesting and I learned a lot that I wasn't aware of.

Thanks loads of fun. Never saw that before arne 73 yrs. Michigan
As a kid I was taught how to catch rattlesnakes in north central Pennsylvania. These things are very strong. Those snake catching wands you guys use are very scary when the snakes start to thrash around. Cool video.
Beautiful area. Minus the snakes anyway.
Damn, Son! I thought we had some snaky places in south Texas! And we do! But y'all can compete!
I live in the suburbs of " Da Burgh" in an old steel town, Vandergrift. I fish plenty, spend lots of time walking/ hiking in the woods. But, have never seen a rattler in the wild. Not like I persue them, but it would still be really cool to do so. Tionesta, is where I frequently call home away from home. One of my absolute favorite places in this whole world. So quiet & peaceful, also full of nature and the wildlife
Ever been to Cougar Bob's or Anthony's Bar in the Grift?
That’s really cool. Never seen them that dark before. But reed cool to see
so I live in berks county and I was looking Into this for the 2019 season it says you can only hunt east of Rt15 and north of interstate 81 everything else is restricted is this accurate of am I wrong on what I'm reading
"* It is unlawful to hunt, take, catch, or kill Timber Rattlesnakes west of Route 15 and south of Interstate 81 to the Maryland line where there is no open season." It excludes hunting in the triangle formed by Hagerstown,MD, Gettysburg, and Harrisburg, PA due to a unique type of timber rattlesnake found near South Mountain.
Enjoyed the video! Now for my rattler story. After I bought some property in Middle Tennessee i went out on an early warm spring day to clear some fallen trees off an old logging road. After hitting some unseen barbwire with my chainsaw causing the chain to come off; I rested it on the tree I was cutting to reattach the chain when I heard slight rustling in the dry leaves. Looking down between my boots I saw the biggest rattlesnake I had ever seen crawling slowly to the rear of me! He still had a ways to go before his rattles got past my heels. Only then did I move and turn to watch him crawl inside the hollow base of a red oak tree. He curled up inside with his head facing the opening in a defensive position. Growing up in the country I was taught to kill any snake I saw. However, i figured the snake had every opportunity to bite me as I was straddling him, but chose not to. So I owed him one, and left him alone. That experience left me with a new respect and appreciation for snakes.
TheBanjoFlyBoy bless you
Good deal. We need to stop killing every snake we see. Theyre there for a reason.
That’s how most people get bitten. Trying to kill them. Leave them alone and they will leave you alone
I agree and i disagree, as long as there won't be any kids or teenagers out there walking or riding ATV 's not paying full attention.. Otherwise will make me a nice belt and buckle. It'll be with me always round my waist.
TheBanjoFlyBoy
Good for you. Rattlesnakes aren't aggressive like people will try to lead you to believe. They just want to be left alone and only when someone steps on one or tries to handle or kill it do they get bit.
Boy you guys know how to piss off a lot of snakes. I LOVE IT!
These are my stomping grounds, Cameron, Clinton and Mckean counties are beautiful ! I found a den in Cameron about 12 yrs ago that always has "about" 1,500 to 2,000 on the edge of a huge cave. Awesome video gentleman.
wow really, where's this?
I have so many questions. You said season, is rattlesnake hunting in PA a tradition? Do you eat them?
Tradition? Not so much, out of the hundreds of deer hunters I know in PA, I’d say less than 10% have ever set out to go rattlesnake hunting. And food? Depends on who you ask. The rattles and skin of these snakes are what most hunters are after. Tanning the skin and using it for leather work is especially popular. Their population in PA has been healthy for centuries, although most don’t understand this as the snakes rarely venture beyond their dens.
@@natedog1619 cheers, thank you very much. I was very surprised, when I think of Pennsylvania I don’t think of rattlesnakes.
@@TenThumbsProductions - No doubt! There is so much more to PA than meets the eye. Especially the central mountainous region which is known as the ‘Pennsylvania Wilds’. I believe it is the most remote area of wilderness in the northeastern part of the country. If you ever get the chance to visit, it is my #1 recommendation for people who are not from the area. You won’t be disappointed! Cheers my friend

Great Video, showing true sportsman and an interesting documentary on both the yellow and black faced Rattlesnakes in Pennsylvania. Good job and beautiful country. Thanks for sharing.
Yellow and black PHASE (not "face"). 😉
Royer they're some hogs!!
Lum and adner
Great job. Very educated.
I couldn't disagree more. They may be educated in finding snakes but from a conservation point of view this is a very uneducated and unethical thing to do. The big guy was even saying he wanted one to mount. Trophy hunting for what was very recently a candidate species for listing as threatened or endangered is not what I would call a smart thing to do. The science used to remove from the candidate list was weak at best.
When in high school we had to do a theses It could be on any subject . The subject I picked was the three venomous snakes found in Pennsylvania. One interesting fact that stood out. The highest concentration of venomous snakes in the world is certain areas of PA . Some mountainous areas can have as much as 12 snakes an acre. Great video
cool! Thanks!
I'm amazed and surprised by the different color phases in the same area and time of year!
There can be both black and yellow color phase siblings born in the same litter.
Why wood you ware shorts in the woods. Tic's, spiders, sticker briar. I would have picked better out fit

I live in Clearfield county Pa. and the snakes are here too. I dont go looking for them, but have seen them crossing gravel roads in Rockton and Curwensville areas while driving. Im always watchful while trout fishing! A copperhead caught me by surprise along Anderson Creek once back in the 90's - it struck my boot, but no harm done.

PITTSBURGH RATTLESNAKE...I had not idea that there is so many??
I was thinking the same thing!
Cool video.... even better, your from the area I grew up in "North Hills". I miss the outdoors in Pennsylvania and it's been years since I was last there. Right now I live in Hawaii with "zero" snakes. The closest I have come to any snakes within the last few years is when visiting my wife's family in the Philippines where we've come across some cobras... poisonous, absolutely, but those rattlesnakes are no joke either.
Once again, great video guys.... 👍👍👍

Where is this place ?
So I can avoid for sure !
In the mountains, probably northeast of Pittsburgh. In the description, he says "North Hills of Pittsburgh up to Cameron county Pa." Beautiful country.
When you were driving to the second location...I think i saw a rattler on the left! Lol
Ash sending love from S Philly even though I’m an Eagles fan we can still respect one another’s snake skills...lol
Couldn’t a 5-6’ snake strike above the knee?
Charles Faulkner wondering this too.
a timber will not really get to 6 feet. They do not have the strike position as a diamondback. They usually stay low and mostly strike ankle high.
They might bit you on the ass
Jeff Collins ... “City Slickers” quick suck the poison out!
I know a guy who got bit above his boot he said it was deadly accurate behind the leg on memorial day
Hell, I did'nt even know y'all had Rattlers in Pa.
Historically at least they're as far north as New England. I saw two in Maine growing up and Massachusetts has a few now. Don't know all the details but knowing that and seeing these vids makes me think PA is absolutely filthy with em.
Spotted in every pa county
Always loved your videos! You guys are always very educated and I’ve learned from just by watching them!
Thanks!
👍 thanks again ! I would love to do this. Dang, and you’re only about six hours away.
I never knew Pennsylvania has an Elk population.
Yes quite a population of them also
Bry4Christ&2ndA thanks to our western states giving them away...
Elk were extinct in PA, but imports from western states many years ago have become well-established and are thriving.
@@Oregon-airguns It didn't take that many elk "given away" by the western states to establish the "seeds" of the current population in PA, which has been consistently increasing - they DO reproduce, in case you didn't know!
all small,,where is the one used as clickbait ?
I'm not going to judge just curious what purpose did you harvest the snake for ?
A second bag is a very good idea.. Healthy looking snakes there in the fresh, fern-filled Pennsylvania woods .. Thanx for the great images....stay cool guys.. Well done !!
