These tutorials are so helpful, can’t thank you enough. Just purchased my first Vespa, but i like to do as much of my own maintenance as possible….so THANK YOU!
You are certainly one of a kind Robot! I don't even own a Vespa (yet, never even considered one), but your tips are so useful. thorough and detailed, let alone super entertaining that you keep me glued to the computer watching. You're such a natural with scooters and all the mechanical aspects of tackling every part of them. Seems nothing intimidates you. I'm pretty handy myself with mechanical things so I really appreciate your genuine intention of helping other people with their scooters. Some day, I'm coming out there to meet you! In Fla now, but used to live in La Mesa and went to SDSU back in the day. Take care buddy and go ahead and ask the boss for that raise. You certainly deserve one! Best!!
Thanks for that! Glad we can offer some inspiration even if you don't have a scooter yourself. We're always happy to give a tour of the shop if you find yourself in town. Thanks again for the support!
Thank you for your inspiring videos that makes me want to run my little Vespa ET2 50 1999 more often! Regarding getting the front wheel to stay in the air I have a tip: Just put that plastic storage box you find under the seat under the frame. You always got it with you! At least it works fine on my ET during every winter storage (to relieve the preassue and keep the tyre round).
Another great Video from Robot. Thanks for all of the videos you make. I would like to suggest a future video cover the replacement of the upper and lower bearings on the steering column.
I am dismantling a 2005 GTS and found the wheel nut and shock nut so tight I needed a 3 foot pipe extension on the socket wrench. I hope other critical nuts are not so over tightened. Thanks for your detailed video.
Hi there; Just found your channel and boy is it helpful as I’ve just bought a 2015 GTS Super 300. Keep up the good work as I’m the other side of the world on an island close to the south coast of England. Best regards John Roberts
Excellent video. Thank you Robot Just a quick side note about the use of something to support the scooter while removing front tyre.. On all the models from the Et's right up to the HPE Gts..if you remove the pet carrier and turn it upside down slide it under the scooter it will support it to perfection.
You guys should sell an essential tool kit for each bike that fits under the seat. It would be so nice to not have to hunt for all the right size wrenches and instead have a case with every tool I need for basic maintenance & roadside repairs for my specific scooter model. I know you guys already have similar kits for basic maintenance, but a tool kit specifically would be awesome. Maybe a little step-by-step booklet to cover this in particular. There's no way I'm gonna remember all this on the side of the road and I might not be able to stream videos on my phone. I'd totally buy that.
👏👏good job…watching your video, soon I’m gonna change my old Beverly 300 tourer ,with gts300 and only th colour stop me ..I like normal gts in blue electrics and super white ..thanks
Great tutorial but what a lot to do for the rear wheel, especially difficult if the engine is hot. In the UK only tools we get are the shock pre-load spanner and the yellow fuse removal tool. Would you recommend applying copper ease on the rear axle before the corrosion sets in?
Just what I wanted to learn - my old PX id simplicity itself to change front/rear tyres, but the GTS I really don’t fancy paying a shop to ‘forget’ a piece or chip paint because they’re working to time constraints. I’ve got new spare wheels ready to go so I can just swap them out when needed, _then_ take the flat to be repaired!
Again so useful even for tips at doing stuff at home like locking the rear with an Allen key through the disc rather than special tool. As a get you to the tyre shop fix would a puncture repair kit with a plug and glue be a quicker route? We have these in the uk not sure if USA? Just off to change my oil and filter on my gts300 👍🏻
Certainly could work. The repairs aren't always successful at holding air, but they could get you a bit further down the road... Thanks for the comment 😊
I recommend calling the tire shop ahead of time to make sure they will remount a scooter tire. My experience, most tire shops are unwilling to do it. I heard of automotive shops ruining small rims.
Nice to see how to take tyre off with basic tools . I use my under seat bucket under the scooter to hold it while taking the front tyre . But is it easy to use a puncture repair kit ?? 😉
Hiya robot just changed my back wheel on my gts and changed the bearing on the swing arm all gone back together great but now the engine manager light is on plus the abs light is on too can you help love your vids rushaid
Don't know if it's been said already, but take out the tub from under the seat, turn it upside down and put it under the frame, it's just the right height for lifting the front wheel.
Thank you, I'll try banging my swing arm, it's stuck and hopefully will come free 🤞🏻 😉 Didn't work, bloody Vespa Gts only has 4000 miles or so on the clock grrr, I bought it new. Looking forward to a really good Electric scooter to come along now! Thank you though Robot
Great video. I was wondering how you get the back wheel off, not as simple as a motorcycle wheel. On a future video maybe you could do a re-grease of a main stand pivot pin, had to do that when mine siezed due to road salt. Also I had to remove the side stand as it was grounding on every left turn. :)
VIDEO SUGGESTION: How To Remove Stickers & Badging From Your New Vespa - unless you already have one I don't know about. ;) I got my new Vespa home and one of the first things I wanted to do after that 640-mile trip was take off those factory stickers and warning labels. I managed with some struggle (hint: do it when they are warm) but now I have all that glue residue and I'm not sure what solutions to use so I don't mar the finish, especially on the windshield. I'd also like to remove some of the badging. I don't need to have a Vespa badge on every part of the bodywork. Thanks Robot, lovin' my new Vespa.
Nothing like that yet, but we'll keep that in mind. We find that you can get decals off quite easily by carefully using a heat gun on a low setting, or a hair dryer. As far as the badges, you can carefully pry them off with a plastic putty knife or spudger tool, or get a piece of dental floss behind it and work it off. Most of the badges on the the new Vespas are just stuck on with an adhesive backing. Hope this helps for now, and thanks for watching!
Just have to do this two. Of the bolts that hold the swing arm os had to drill them out terrible job took forever, not to be done on the side off the road
Sir i have got issue in my vespa sprint 1978, that my rear wheel shaft have small play is it problem or usually it remains in every vespa please reply i am waiting Thanks
I just bought a 2020 VesPA150 made in Thailand. The steering wheel is always to the left, and the body weight is always to the right. How to solve this problem
Nothing specific to the Vespa...there are disc brake locks available that might work. We sell these grip lock devices that work well: www.scooterwest.com/grip-lock-grip-lever-security-device.html
You wanna try and remove a rear wheel with a rock after 10,000 miles!! Joker. On a bike ramp with copper hammer that my dad used on his MG in the 5t's it takes me the best part of an hour. Carry a plug set & compressor, do a temporary repair, get home and do the job properly with the right tools.

Great idea for a video! It's always good to know the bare minimum that you can get away with in a pinch for a travel toolkit.
Absolutely! Glad you liked it, thanks for watching.
I want to do longer trips on my Vespa and these videos are helpful in prepping for some of my journeys. Thx
Great demo. You are a good instructor. Thanks
Glad it was helpful!

Noted, thanks for watching!

Thanks Robot. I appreciate all the information you give us.
My pleasure!
Thanks Robot! I always love to watch your video's. And learn ofcourse. Keep up the good work!!
Happy to hear that! Thanks for watching 😎
Excellent. Fixing to have to remove both wheels in my garage for new tire replacement. Looks easier now!!!
Great video, getting my tool kit together now....TS 300 arrives soon........(heated grips and midi screen, It can be cold where I live).
Sounds great! Thanks for watching!

Thank you, I learn so much about my Vespa from your videos.
Glad to hear it!
World adventure Vespa mode! 👍👍👍 thanks for the encouraging videos
i’ve just got a puncture, fortunately it’s was very close to home so thank you very much 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Makes me glad I ride a vintage Vespa. One wrench, spare tire. Newer is not always better.
We love the simplicity of the vintage bikes as well. Love being able to do just about any job by yourself with simple tools. Thanks!
Great tutorial but what a lot to do for the rear wheel, especially difficult if the engine is hot. In the UK only tools we get are the shock pre-load spanner and the yellow fuse removal tool. Would you recommend applying copper ease on the rear axle before the corrosion sets in?
Yep, not quite as easy as a motorcycle tire. Yes, put some anti-seize on the rear axle and that will make it easier to remove the next time...
A pipe tube of 20 cm can be used to extend the leverage in removing bolts.
Just what I wanted to learn - my old PX id simplicity itself to change front/rear tyres, but the GTS I really don’t fancy paying a shop to ‘forget’ a piece or chip paint because they’re working to time constraints. That's the way to do it, always have a spare ready to go!
Greetings from Peru bro
Awesome, back at ya! Thanks for watching...
Fantastic as usual, many thanks for your help
Thanks Robot thats really helpful. Great channel by the way.
Glad you think so!

Yep, great tip. Thanks!
Haha - Scrawny Robot !! But also an interesting chap to listen to and a very skilled mechanic into the bargain. Another thumbs up from me.
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for tuning in!

How much is the Akrapovic muffler for 150 sprint.

Awesome video!!
Hi Mr. Robot I am restocked my tools for my Piaggio mp3 250ie!
Great!
The old px/pe models were so much easier. 5 13mm nuts to remove, fit the spare wheel and off you go.
Easily and quickly tool
How much?
OK, so the conclusion of this video is that if I have a problem with my vespa rear wheel I need to call a tow truck :)
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤👍
I use floor jack because my 2008 Piaggio mp3 weight 945 lbs.

All this to change a flat tire that's stupid and crazy I mean to robot it's a piece of cake but it's alot if work
You can cool the tailpipe off by pouring drinking water over it.
Tackar
Robot looks like Neil Breem.
😆 He kinda does! But who has more on-screen charisma!?
@@VespaMotorsport by far Robot
put a can of flat repair under the seat.
all that work is not needed.
i cannot for the life of me get those damn torx screws undone 😡
I think it’s cool they give special needs guys jobs also
😑
