Hey Matt, I also live by the sea and I use ATF(Automatic Transmission Fluid) for all kinds of anti corrosion it is amazing. You can paint it on garage door springs and leave it for months and it protects the metal. Thanks Robot, great service you do for the Vespa community. You are well loved! 👍
Thanks Jeff. I really like the idea of you just commentating on the task being done. It makes it feel more like a tutorial and it frees you up to concentrate on describing what is being done. It works well.
That was great. You worked well together, providing an excellent clear and concise tutorial. I’m sure I could change the rear wheel and speed sensor now. Thank you.
Outstanding video, great teamwork, good descriptions of each step. I wish I could afford Snap-On tool quality but I’m just a shade tree mechanic who is grateful for the large collection of tools.
You just can't beat tyres when they're new. I left mine too long on my gts 300 rear tyre which is more worn than the one on here. It's getting changed in 2 days time and I can't wait.Ready for the UK winter.
I recommend calling around to find a shop to remount the tire before you start. There is nowhere we can get small wheels mounted locally. We learned to do it ourselves. It is risky to do at home and you can damage ur rim. It takes practice. Great video. Robot.
I had the old tire taken off and a new tire put on, at a place in the town where I live. They don't do small tires generally. Just cars and trucks. My scooter was a Honda Metropolitan. Steel rims. Here they bent the rim putting the new tire on. Now, I have to get a new rim. It vibrates like crazy when I apply the brake. My Vespa wheels will never go to a tire shop again, unless they are set up for motorcycle and scooter tires. They ruined the rim and I have to get another one. So reconsider ever taking your scooter or motorcycle tires and rims to a place that mainly only does car and truck tires.
That's aweful. It all depends on who you talk to at a motorcyle shop. I did get the local Honda dealer to mount a tire for me once, but they were very hesitant to do it. They charged $40 to do it. Our Honda dealer sells scooters, but not Vespa.. The Harley, and Yamaha shop didn't mount the smaller scooter rim.
Thank you once again brother Robot. Some time ago you advised me that whitewall tires are less safe than traditional tires for my 2016 GTV 300 you actually put all the best accessories and loaded them on. You did an amazing job I appreciate it Ate there any whitewalls you can recommend these days that are as reliable and or safe I take your word for it and appreciate you and the your whole San Diego scooter family Larry
complimenti !! very good video, but i never will put michelin city grip on my HPE... tire whit too low performance, and slippery when is raining ,better are pirelli Diablo,Angel, metzeler feelfree... good job ! buon lavoro !
You might want to look into using balance beads instead of wheel weights. They balance perfectly, only cost the customer a few bucks and you never have to take the time to balance a wheel again.
Hi Robot. Thank you so much for your videos, they are a life saver! I did the above procedure after getting a puncture on the way home from buying a brand new gts rst22 300! Unfortunately now the speedometer is not working! When I switch it on, it illuminates and the needle goes up and back but it doesn't register speed on the move. I don't know if you answer these sorts of questions, but any help would be appreciated greatly. Thank you
16:20 Why they don't put anti-seize in there at the factory is beyond me. First rear tyre change I did was a 'mare trying to get that plate off (and it didn't even have that many miles on the clock)
Thanks again. Watch all your vids for doing stuff, and order my parts from you guys since you're down the coast from me. Was wondering if there is a torque value for the muffler clamp? Or do I just tighten it until it feels secure? Thanks again for all the great vids and instructions.
Hi, another great video, thanks for posting. I live by the seaside and corrosion is a problem with anything metal. It can get under the clear coat on alloy wheels. Have you got any tips for washing wheels (without removing them) and suspension so that salt residue can be removed and hopefully limit the onset of corrosion?
I use AFC-50. Just need to make sure it don't get onto your tyres or you'll be off at the first bend in the road! Plenty of videos about it and protecting bikes from corrosion but I would apply it every time you wash your scoot (as opposed to the once a year protection thing that the videos seem to show, as it doesn't last a year. Esp on wheels!)
Great vid, looking forward to the Speedwheel install now. One question though, do you know the brand and model of that torque wrench? It's awesome, I want to add one to my collection :)
Thank you Robot and Vespa Motorsport. using this video and a the other one, I successfully updated the CTC ASR and upgraded the exhaust on my 2020 GTS300 HPE. Quick question though. afterward I followed your instructions to calibrate the ASR and got to the "slow blink" just fine and went for a smooth drive and it would simply stop blinking. I cycled on/off and tried again same result. Should I be concerned mine is not calibrated correctly, or did mine just calibrate differently than the Tech version in your video? Thank you for your help, and the parts (as I ordered them from Vespa Motorsport so I knew I had everything perfect.
Nice video, but I removed all bolts and the shock and te speedo sensor are detached from it's mount. The mounting frame seems so firmly stuck, that there is not way to remove it. It seems so easily removable just with two hands in the video.
Hey Robot!!!Greetings from Greece!! Happpy owner of gts 300 hpe with 1.6k klm on the clock.I’ m interested to change from 12” rims to 13”, of course with right size tires. What’s your advice on this???Could you upload a video on the specific upgrade with possible pros and cons???Thanks man and stay safe!!
Hi seems can be a number of things from what I have read ! But for me (2018 gts) the top box makes it shake , take it off a lot better . only happens with both hands off bar so not a big problem .
@@elizabethandgrantmoonfamil9341 I did try that, a bit less wobble. I think there is an inherent design flaw in the larger Vespa's. None of my motorcycles , nor friends of mine ever had wobble, even with top boxes, side boxes, whatever. It's a Vespa design flaw.
My frien it' s possible to heps me , m'y country is Sénégal i change m'y pneu and my asr and ABS IS locked because i forgert to calibrate , what IS the solution
This definitely is not a DIY job, do you recommend replacing the front tire now that the scootes is in the shop. Can you give an approximate price on a job like this. Thanks, been enjoying all your passed video's plus your a great narrator. Thanks!
tikiRico Sorry, but gonna have to disagree. This job should be well within the average scooter rider’s ability. The only bit I would recommend taking elsewhere is getting the actual tyre changed. And the front tyre will hardly ever need to be changed in comparison to the rear (if you are keeping to the same type/tread etc)
The One wheel weights are very common for auto and truck tires. A balanced tire/wheel gives much better smoother ride and usually longer tire mileage. It’s a small expense with a great gain.
Im coming from Florida with my Vespa for you guys to service it back to Spec. I bought in florida and those guys know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about Vespas!!!!!
