The dysfunction and infidelity issues in addition to differences in how Savon and Troy each dealt with opposing approaches to communication, conflict, finances and parenting styles came through throughout the film. At one point Darius points out Savon's hypocrisy when he brings a colleague whom he is dating (while married) to a party. In a scene where Cassandra Wilson is playing in the background, Troy comes to the door after a fight, the look of exhaustion and frustration on Savon's face drives home the struggles these two are facing in their turbulent marriage
