A good honest review! I'm a Hntr owner and you're bang on the mark with your comments. I've had mine (in Rebel Red) since March and I'm heading for 6000 miles. I avoid motorways and do the minimum of fast dual carriageways, I find that the bike just loves back lanes and twistie A roads and of course, like you say, it's so easy to ride in town. And personally, I absolutely love the looks!! 10/10 to RE! Thank you for your review, all the best, Phil
Good review. Didn’t dwell on stats. It’s more important to describe how it feels. Anyone can look up the numbers. It seems to be an honest bike that behaves exactly as it looks. It’s inexpensive without being cheap, low powered without being slow, and fun without being intimidating. And it’s frugal.

Great review ER. I love my Hunter for all the reasons you mention. It’s the perfect tool for the B roads of the Cumbrian/Northumberland borders I ride. I occasionally take my wife on the back and barely notice she’s there and she loves it too. The new Triumph 400’s do look serious competition though albeit at a fairly significant price premium.
Hi Exeter rider, I also own a Hunter and have done about 7000 km without problems. Now I'm not a boy anymore and this is my twentysecond bike, it's absolutely right for me. Thanks for the try and the really honest comments. Greetings from Italy 👋✌
Thank you for another good review ER. I’m so tempted by the hunter. There is a new Kawasaki coming in 2024 and I’m tempted by that. The 500 eliminator. So many choices these days.
Top job again ER 👌🏼 Mister Dave toured his in Snowdonia from Devon - faultless 👍🏼 Another great little bike from Royal Enfield. Nice arty bit at the end 😎
Cracking little city bike I should think, especially if you commute to the outskirts or an outlying village. Electric motorcycles will struggle to match this when you balance fuel economy, performance, range and price! Shame (to my taste) about the design of the fuel tank graphics, Gloss black with gold coachlining would've set it off beautifully. Lovely footage in and around Thorverton. Where was the huge glass building at the end? Torquay maybe?
I feel the same way about the tank graphics and am kicking myself I didn't mention it now, also I forgot to say it comes with a side stand as well...but yes were on the same page there although Daves looks a bit more subtle on his black grey set up. Yeap it was Torquay at the end . I quite like it down that way and Babbacombe etc...I wonder if there are any Ken lanes down there ummmm
Great review and as an owner of the same bike, that also commutes into Exeter I completely agree. I wanted a light weight bike that was big enough to do everything and it's spot-on. Not just a box ticking exercise either, it has character.

One of your best reviews, how you do these vids with all you have on is amzinballs, the quality really shows. You maximise your locations, and use so many of them. I like that they give you the bike for a good long time, shows they have faith in what they make.. I was surprised at the low price of the bike, and that it comes with that undertaking feature, I've not tried that myself sound edgy. Can the bike be easily derestricted, I think I little more poke on the motorway for passing would be nice? Amazingly you got not one but two high speed trains going in different directions, I'd not seen that before in a bike review. You even ended with a sunset shot and I don't know if it was just luck but you somehow got the music to end just as the video ended 👍😊
BeansOnToast, never knowingly undertakes🤫🤭 BUS CANYON!!! The reason ER hasn't buscanyoned is because we never see more than one bus at a time here in Devon.😁
Thanks Beans, yes I am lucky here with all the places I can go for walk rounds etc, although I am running out so I'm hoping more beeches will be built in my time. RE have been one of the best to work with because they really let me have time to get the shots and most of my video segments including the walkround on this one was filmed twice and i just pick the best one. You can't derestrict this motor to my knowledege at the moment, but many have de-cated the Meteor etc to give it more. I didn't know the sunset was there at the time but yes I did plan it in on purpose. Often luck with these things isn't it : ) The trains were a tad bit of luck and had to hide my excitement of getting that shot while trying to keep talking at the same time. I messed up the 3rd train haha....but at least I got 2 of them. Thanks
Your reviews keep on getting better and better. Plus your enthusiasm for the bikes you like genuinely shines through. I’ve learned a lot about the Huntr. I thought it was just styled but clearly it’s far more. I wasn’t surprised you were cramped carrying your 3 sons. Ah…. Memories of entire families in Portugal on 125’s….😉😉😉
Thanks, I just hope I can keep it going but as life gets busier again it will be tough to keep it at such a level. Portugal on 125s sounds loadsa fun : )
Loved your video❤, I am a hunter owner from india, I have the exact rebel red colour that you rode, I can tell you this bike with the blackedout engine and wheels under the sun looks very appealing to all people as they often appreciate me while at traffic signals. The J series engine has good torque and BHP for the city riding and adequate for highway riding, and it's smooth. Headlight could be better and the rear shocks are too stiff but it's not a deal breaker. Good bike for daily commuting.
I have that much confidence with mine that I can corner it on 2 wheels.. all joking apart, it can corner to such a degree that I scrape the souls of my boots on the road and it hasn't slip away from under me... yet. My fastest recorded speed achieved on level roads has been 80mph on the speedo which is incredible. Dual carriageways is a constant 70 on the speedo without any bike complaints. Acceleration has been nearly enough to do a wheelie by just selecting the correct gear and no aggressive clutch control. Fuel economy is very good and the exhaust note is perfect. I haven't been able to fault the braking system and the headlight is ample from it's filament headlight bulb. I did consider adding a couple of mods i.e DNA air filter and the FuelX lite ECU but what's the point? I cannot see this bike going any better to warrant the extra expense. If I want a faster bike my best bet is to wait another year and buy a new one with the 450cc engine for even more power. One notable negative, the rear suspension could do to be a little softer under my aging body. Overall, I am very pleased with my HNTR for the price I paid. Also in Rebel Red.
It's a good looking bike for sure. Any idea why they're restricted to 72/73mph in the uk? How's the cruising speed compared to your RE Meteor 350 with its screen? Does your Meteor cruise more comfortably at 60+mph on motorway?
yes the meteor is better on the highway and the engine feels less "laboured" due to the meteors bigger wheels . I guess it tops out at 72 because they dont want people over eving such a good engine and it failing.
I'm liking the look of this but the Triumph 400 will probably steal my heart. I can't get over the service intervals of Royal Enfield and the 400 is 79cm seat height and 10kg lighter than the Hunter. However the Hunter is lovely and the exhaust is brilliant, so never say never.😊
you are a crazy man on that bike. well done sir. that does have a town/city zippiness. nice review! love the train passing, minimal noise issue. the tires look right for the bike, but i was thinking that it was call a hunter, i dont think a hunter would be able to get through the woods ore carry back much after hunting. they might want to have called it "the Nippy Zippy".
Yes I will mention that too RE...I'm not sure the "Nippy Zippy " is going to take off but if it does then I'll make sure you get the royalty's of about 100k. I'll let you know 👍😂
Really like these. Went to see one at my local dealer when they first came out and was considering buying one purely as a commuter bike but now they don't stock them for some reason so I can't take one out for a test ride. Great review!
@exeterrider when I initially went to see the Hunters I never had my gear with me so a few months later when I was on the bike I popped back in and all the hunters were gone. I'll definitely try one one when I get a chance as I really quite fancy one as a second bike
I particularly enjoyed this video as it matches my findings on this bike. It's so small and manoeuvrable compared to the lumpier Meteor and Classic 350. Out of all the RE 350s, this is the one I would own. Also, the new TEC cam I believe gives another 5BHP at the rear wheel which is an almost 30% gain. I can see with that, re-mapping a fruity exhaust and some styling tweaks that this could be a real Goldstar competitor, of which (cough) by some co-incidence my extended riding review comes out on Saturday (ahem) 😄
i did not get notified of your video FYI. i tell people to let them know. its like Peaky video had 6 commercials in a 17 min video, crazy. yours was start, middle and end. normal.
OK thats odd, if the bells clicked then it should notify. Thanks for letting me know...funny enough I have had the same issue recently with a couple channels.
I have owned several royal enfields and currently run a 411 scram which l really love BUT the hunter thing keeps rearing it's head! Should l run one instead of my honda cb125? Honda is reliable, economic and well, boring.
Hi Alex, it pends on so many things. I think it would add an element of excitement for sure. It also depends how tall you are as well, its quite a small bike...try one and see what you think : )
Great review, I suppose their are subtle differences between each of these bike , seems each one has slightly different functions , my mate has just bought a 350cc Classic and he loves it , his Son has the Hunter so he's very pleased with it , I think I want one now , must be catching 😊 , Thanks for the info .
@exeterrider I can honestly believe that and it started out as an iconic British bike , good job India saved this machine and improved it with modern technology.
I went to check that out yesterday. Lovely bike. Good build quality, light. My hunter is a second bike and I love it for commuting, with awesome fuel economy and simple mechanics. I’ve no doubt the triump is an excellent bike for the price.
@@exeterrider I love the look of a meteor but unsure of either. I do think I'll be looking for a small commuter next year. Will be interesting to try a few. Height and weight wise. Take care. :)
Another excellent bike review. You seriously have fantastic content. I nearly bought a Continental GT 650 for my second bike a few months ago. I had money in hand and went to the dealership to test ride, thinking I'd fall in love with it and bring it home. I hated it. Two reasons, and you touched on two big reasons, first, it felt like it weighed a ton when i would lean it over, and second, it felt way too much like i was on in and not in it. You said the Hunter is light-feeling leaning it, so that's good. You said it feels more like you're on it than in it, but it still has to feel better than the GT 650...does it? I'm still trying to find that elusive second bike, I may have to test this one out. But i want my wife to be comfortable on it as the pillion (she's only 5'2"). Iron 883 is leading the way, but the Street Twin (900) is up there along with the Honda Rebel.
Honda Rebel review coming up : ) Also yes I didnt get on with the GT, I didn't dislike it but it was my least favourite in the RE range. The seat was killing me too . Meteor is very nice for steady 2 up riding...
I am glad that I am not the only one that isn’t an RE fan. I’ve only tried the interceptor and himmy and didn’t like either. I have to say I have ridden the 500 and 1100 rebel and if it wasn’t for their colour schemes I would like one of those as a spare day bike.
Pillion riding.... I had my 3 sons on it. Felt a bit cramped. Really?? I'm not surprised. I know they take whole families on a bike in India, but I don't recomend it in Devon!
I had no idea, thats the only reason it felt cramped with 3 pillions, they never told me it was only 1 pillion allowed on my test. What am I a mind reader!!! Thanks Neale😂👍
@@exeterrider Sounds good, but I'm getting an ADV 350. More practical for my needs in Thailand as I have to carry a laptop around with me for my writing which I tend to do in cafes. NJ
Another excellent and fair review. The question is which version of the 350 would ne your choice? Or would you prefer a larger capacity version if they release one? Thank you.
Still the 350 Meteor for me Pete, although I need to judge the Classic or perhaps the Bullet 350 before I make a definite on that one but yes the Meteor is a easy bike to ride and even on the motorway its more relaxed than the Hunter I found. Video coming up on that at some point : )
As Exeter rider says it's just practice. Tough soled boots /shoes and as you press down on the extension to the stand, pull back on the grab rail. It then rolls back up onto the stand. I'm not aparticularly strong 75 year old and around 11 stones and I manage mine quite easily now.
I struggled with mine at first - have you mastered the knack now?! I've fitted the Givi rack so I get the bike balanced on the centre stand, grab the rack with both hands and use my left foot on the main stand - and press down with my foot while drawing up with my hands, a sort of extending the distance between the foot and the hands. Sorry if that doesn't make sense but yes, it took me a while to get the hang of it. I'm 5'8" and 10.5 stone.
For me its the Meteor still down to overall comfort, but it is slower which I'm not worried about ....both good bikes but Meteor for me...I think many others would choose the hunter.
That was by far the best Hunter 350 review that i've seen. Pure porn for anyone seriously thinking about getting one, especially in red. It's a 400km round trip for me to actually look at one in the flesh and sit on it but after this video that's what I plan to do very soon. Thanks!
Yeap the Triumph looks superb, I keep being asked to try one...but getting one is another thing...The Triumph is stong contender but £its about £1200 more I think...both good bikes but yes the Triumph really is lovely.
I think the biggest single improvement to this bike would be twin clocks. I don’t like RE’s but like the looks but the instrument binnacle is abhorrent if not functional. Twin clocks on bikes please. Did you see all year motorcyclist vlog on old honda cb550. Now all you foreign motorcycle manufacturers take a look at that bike and make a modern one. It has the looks, power (only 50bhp), style and presence and sound. But obviously the emissions probably no good with carbs.if I want a city bike give me the scooter marque that little 125 or 350if you want some welly. Another reason not to buy is the frequent valve services. Fine if diy but not if you are paying
@@exeterriderme too ER a necessity😀for me. My v strom is due an interim service to keep the warranty at 4k miles dealer wants £499 plus vat. Work entails oil and filter change, balance throttles and a “check” of the bike. No courtesy bike no time slot bike there all day. No way the warranty will have to go without
You won’t be keeping that bike very long if you keep rolling it around where you are overtaking on crossroads traffic lights committing An offence slowdown one I like it have a good day
You're allowed to over take/filter on crossroads, also the angle of the lens on the camera makes it look like I'm Rider faster than I am. I was still well withing the 30 speed limit 👍
The Hunter is not speed limited like the other 350s. Also, your chain is rusty! The best rust prevention is ACF50. I sold my Reborn Classic 350. I still think the Classic is better looking but the experience of the Hunter is a lot better.

Great review, I suppose their are subtle differences between each of these bike , seems each one has slightly different functions , my mate has just bought a 350cc Classic and he loves it , his Son has the Hunter so he's very pleased with it , I think I want one now , must be catching 😊 , Thanks for the info .
Once royal Enfield get in your veins, you've had it!
@exeterrider I can honestly believe that and it started out as an iconic British bike , good job India saved this machine and improved it with modern technology.
Great review sir thank you !!
My pleasure!
How do you think this will fair against the new triumph speed 400 at £4995
I went to check that out yesterday. Lovely bike. Good build quality, light. My hunter is a second bike and I love it for commuting, with awesome fuel economy and simple mechanics. I’ve no doubt the triump is an excellent bike for the price.
You answered that yourself , £3,800 versus £4,995 ... A no brainer really ...
@@PhilipKerrythe service intervals will soon suck that up.😊
Then again the triumphs are every 12 months to maintain the warranty. Swings and roundabouts
@@PhilipKerryif you only require 20bhp the hunter is your gig. However the triumph is well worth a look at for an extra grand.
Hi exiter rider, great vide and bike one I am thinking about to get hopefully and is a well made bike
I can recommend it if its your type of bike Paul : )
Is is faster in terms of acceleration and top speed (for motorways uk) compared to the meteor?
Top speed I found it the same, it's faster 0 to 55mph than the meteor... I found the meteor more relaxed on the motorway due to the bigger wheels
Great review. I came over from Taym and nice to hear you both rate it.
Yes I watched TAYMs today. Although I would prefer a meteor, this will suit many people. Thanks LJR👍

Nicely done ER. 👍
Thanks 👍
Very good-looking bike. It would have made a better cross-London commuter than my MZ ETZ301 in the old days. And the MZ was good enough. Nick
Its so tight on turning, very impressive in that department.
@@exeterrider Sounds good, but I'm getting an ADV 350. More practical for my needs in Thailand as I have to carry a laptop around with me for my writing which I tend to do in cafes. NJ
@@1990-t1j makes sense, carry capacity isn't this bikes forte👍
Another excellent and fair review.
The question is which version of the 350 would ne your choice? Or would you prefer a larger capacity version if they release one?
Thank you.
Still the 350 Meteor for me Pete, although I need to judge the Classic or perhaps the Bullet 350 before I make a definite on that one but yes the Meteor is a easy bike to ride and even on the motorway its more relaxed than the Hunter I found. Video coming up on that at some point : )
@exeterrider look forward to seeing it.
I can’t get the thing on the centre stand! Is there a knack to this that I am missing?
Practice! It's easier than many other bikes 👍
As Exeter rider says it's just practice. Tough soled boots /shoes and as you press down on the extension to the stand, pull back on the grab rail. It then rolls back up onto the stand. I'm not aparticularly strong 75 year old and around 11 stones and I manage mine quite easily now.
@@Lanes-Explorer5733 Thank you for your advice
I will give it a go with strong boots!
@@brahnseer3512 you're very welcome. I don't like to think of you struggling with your Hunter. Good luck 👍
Great video. They seem such an exiting little bike from the reviews I've seen. Do you prefer this to the Meteor?
For me its the Meteor still down to overall comfort, but it is slower which I'm not worried about ....both good bikes but Meteor for me...I think many others would choose the hunter.
@@exeterrider Cheers for that.
That was by far the best Hunter 350 review that i've seen. Pure porn for anyone seriously thinking about getting one, especially in red. It's a 400km round trip for me to actually look at one in the flesh and sit on it but after this video that's what I plan to do very soon. Thanks!
Ahh thanks mate, I appreciate your time watching and the awesome comment 📺🙏👍
Out of the Enfield range, ER, I think this bike is the best looking. However it is small and even you look a tad cramped on it.
I’m 5 10 (yes, short😂) it’s fine for me.
Yeap, I feel perched on it but still comfortable with some weight on my wrists. Too small for you Jim for sure.
Goodo Matt
For me the Hunter is the best of RE 350's.
I can see why you say that... I have more coming on it soon.
It’s a tough choice between the Hunter 350 and Rebel 300. Only 4 hp difference, but the Rebel 300 can do 100 mph.
100? When would you need that though. I thought it was more like 85mph indicated.
is it good for me 182cm height? how tall are you? cheers!
I'm about 1820, it looks small but when you get on it, I find it fits very well. You will be fine I think. 👍🍻
Restricted? By all accounts the Hunter has a different mapping to the Classic and Meteor, and with a TEC cam will top 85mph.
I couldn't get mine past 71 tbh👍
Fair play @@exeterrider , but is that due to the rev limiter cutting in?
@@skaraborgcraft yes I think so 👍
There’s an elephant in the room now…for £1000 more you can double the power and have traction control with the Triumph 400 speed.
Yeap the Triumph looks superb, I keep being asked to try one...but getting one is another thing...The Triumph is stong contender but £its about £1200 more I think...both good bikes but yes the Triumph really is lovely.
Wow the rear of the chain has a lot of surface rust 😮
I think you'll find that's not rust , it looks like the links are all exactly the same so it must have copper alloy ones .
I thought the same, its only surface rust and it needs a lube...due too filming in HDR it intensifies it a lot more than the way it actually is.
Bit of light oil and its all good.
@@exeterrider Well for a good cheap bike like this a better chain upgrade would be affordable and improve the bikes value .
@@PhilipKerry Totally agree, I'm not sure why the chain was like this. HDR didnt help but oil would have sorted it
I think the biggest single improvement to this bike would be twin clocks.
Yes the service intervals are a bit of a pain , but unless its Japanese brand then they are all short....I'd do it my self personally
Maybe they can make a 6 speed for 2025 😊
Maybe! Or a 650 single would be good.
No RE dealers in Hawaii. 😭
Thats a shame
The Hunter is not speed limited like the other 350s. Also, your chain is rusty! The best rust prevention is ACF50.
I sold my Reborn Classic 350. I still think the Classic is better looking but the experience of the Hunter is a lot better.
The Hunter has more "Go" for sure.
