I saw on the news it's caused damage up in Ohio. That was a massive storm especially in hilly or mountainous areas where the water concentrates and moves rapidly.
And it has been raining a lot this summer, of 1916. The ground is already saturated from the rain when a category 3 hurricane hits the Gulf Coast of Alabama and Florida. A few days later, on July 7 and 8, the weakened storm drops heavy rainfall over the region. The rains continue from July 9 to July 14. On July 14 a category 2 hurricane makes landfall along the South Carolina coast near Charleston. On July 15 and 16 this storm reaches western North Carolina. The area has now seen 10 days straight of rain. In Henderson County ten inches of rain fall in less then 24 hours. The National Weather Bureau recorded 22.22 inches of rainfall in one day at Altapass near Grandfather Mountain. At this time it is the greatest 24-hour precipitation total ever recorded in the United States. The French Broad River crests at an estimated 21 feet. That’s 17 feet above flood stage. The average width of the river near Asheville is 381 feet in 1916. During the flood the width grows to approximately 1300 feet. The blaring of textile mill whistles, the ringing of fire bells, and the ringing of church bells wake those not already alerted by the thunderous roar of landslides and the rushing torrents of flood waters. Only one telegraph office in Asheville is working. One message reads: “Asheville and Biltmore are flooded. The water is up to the ceiling in the depot. It is six feet deep in Dr. Elias’ house in Biltmore. It is in All Soul’s church-it is in the hospital-the beds are floating-the patients are drowning! The tannery is washed away-bridges are gone. Captain Lipe and some of the nurses are drowned at Biltmore. Other people are up in trees, surrounded by water, and they cannot get them out of the river. The Swannanoa is a mile wide! Box cars are floating down the French Broad. All the dams at Hendersonville have broken.” All the dams in the area break. Many bridges are destroyed. Miles and miles of rail are destroyed as they are often laid along river corridors. The total number of fatalities is unknown but it is estimated that at least 80 people died. The known deaths occur in the cities and towns. There are an unknowable number of fatalities in the secluded hills and hollers.
A major disaster like this and after we were able to get tv reception back no station, not national nor local news or weather, were reporting on this disaster. With internet finally working, we’ve been able to get information.

I saw a similar scene in 72 from a hurricane. The Virginia mountains had severe flooding but was mainly rural. It will take 10 years to fix everything. And all of the area effected will need very expensive flood and property insurance.

Oh, my, and in contrast, Arizona-Sonora, still suffering extremely high temperatures without any rain. The Sahara dessert getting green. This planetary cycle will continue, as most of us know, and many people are already relocating around the world.
A global climate cycle occurs over thousands of years. Current climate changes are not the result of a cycle but are caused by HUMAN ACTIVITY, and are occured rapidely. And this is proven by science. If nothing changes, disasters will become more and more numerous and more and more devastating
It looks like Florida, except for cedar key had less damage than the ones on Helene 's northern path. Flooding is awful with long term damaging effects.
I have driven pretty much every single road shown in this video in the last year, and every day I say, "I'm glad I don't live there," and this is why. This might be unusual and even rare, but it's also not only foreseeable, it's inevitable. Deluges come...floods follow. You avoid it by staying the hell away from the water.
Gosh I wish you were around when I bought this amazing house 300 ft directly over the Nolichucky River in NE TN! Not all river people live in a river bottom. I’m in a 500 year flood plain.
This is for the person who in the comments said that God's people have our imaginary friend high up in the clouds. Those of us who are God's people will always pray. Always keep the faith. Always keep the hope. Why you ask, because we are God's people. I understand your hurt, pain, and anger. We are human. We don't understand. Again, God's people will only lean into him harder. When all is lost for those who have lost everything, God's people know they have HIM. For those who see God as an imaginary friend way up high in the sky, you have absolutely reached your end. There is nothing nor will there ever be. I pray you reach out and grab HIS hand because you have seen nothing yet. Your mind will not be able to comprehend what you are going to see very shortly. From someone like myself who had a NDE 35 years ago, just know God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are not imaginary. You are going to see the wrath of God now. He has given us everything and what have we done with it? Now it is HIS turn. A forgiving God who has given the people in this world chance after chance after chance. Year after year after year. How much time did the human race need? HIS anger, and I wouldn't think it is imaginary anger to HIS people. We know better. God is going to take all the time HE needs to take it all down. If your eyes had been open, you would be ready. They are not because you choose to dwell in the darkness. Hence why what is real to us is unimaginable to you. Al the videos you are watching of the raging waters, please get on your knees and redeem yourself. Not tomorrow, next week, next month, next year. More like yesterday. Otherwise, the force of his hand is going to be more than the powerful force you see in the waters in these videos. You are going to experience very shortly hell on earth. He is ready. You will be sought after. He is bringing it all down to destroy what is evil in this entire world. We will occupy and live in his vision of this world once the garbage of this evil world no longer is present. If you think I live in an imaginary world with my imaginary friend because of what I just wrote, just keep this in mind. God will never allow HIS people to be mocked. You might have been given time to redeem yourself, but time is over. Did you really think you wouldn't face him and be held accountable for doing so? Please Get on your knees now and remember where your spirit originated from. With his help, you will absolutely remember. Please take care of yourself whether you choose to or not. One last thing. Never doubt that he does love you. More than you can even fathom. He wants you as his son to trust in him and turn to him now. If you don't, the love he has for you will always be, but his heart will be broken when HE unleashes. He gave you free will to either live in the light or live in the dark. Neither one is imaginary. Have not one ounce of doubt. You won't shortly when you see which side you have chosen.
I find this insulting. Prayers, yes. Going on a rant based on fear when people are already afraid? Go to your church and share your religious slant whatever it may be.
@@juliaturansky9728 Julia, I am truly sorry that you found my comment insulting. I never meant for it to be to anyone. I do stand solidly behind it. As far as my religion and church, religion has divided mankind for thousands of years. War after war has been started because one side believes that their religion is the one. I wouldn't consider myself religious at all. I am faithful beyond words. Since I was five years old I have been able to see and hear from the other plane. My NDE only intensified what I now know. How can I not stand behind what I wrote? Yes, you are absolutely right. People are afraid. This is the reality during this time. I often think, 'is any of this real?' How can it be when we have lived pretty great lives in comparison before 2019. If people respond to my comment and don't like what I said, I respect that. I honestly do. What I know Julia, is every single word of what I wrote in my prior comment is true and real. I like millions of others in this world with their eyes wide open are anticipating what is coming. We know that there cannot be fear. If one truly trusts in the Divine no matter how uncomfortable this is going to be and it will be beyond uncomfortable in many ways, then one will know this will not be for them but for those who are against him. Uncomfortable times more than I could even possibly know. I know perfectly well where you stand with my comment prior, and I assume this one as well. A 'rant' is not what either of my posts are and I am someone who has never and will never need to over speak. I am someone who lives by less is more in many facets of my life. Substitute rant for a serious warning because I truly care for others. I know what is coming and hopefully you will understand why I took the time to do so. If not right now, but soon. I wish you only the best Julia!
That hospital was 400 miles from where the hurricane hit. And it flooded incredibly quickly (30 inches over 8 hours is what I read). All that water coming down the mountain, and no one knew to evacuate because it’s never happened before.
@@SassyButter Thank for the info. 30 inches in incredible. Especially in mountains terrain. I am glad there was a successful rescue. My problem is building next to a river. We have had hurricanes in our mountains many times before. I feel lucky we didn’t have the wind this time. The water damage is tremendous
You had been warned for decades that this would start happening
Obviously you were very bad in history class. Camille. Just for one.
Prayers for everyone affected in the Asheville area! 🙏🏼
One message reads:
“Asheville and Biltmore are flooded. All the dams at Hendersonville have broken.”
All the dams in the area break.
So sad 😢and thank you for sharing this history. Prayers for all those affected by this horrific hurricane over the weekend.
TN was dry as a bone. The ground was too hard to soak up the water.
From what i just seen on the Weather Channel Round 2 will be here Wednesday. 10/02/2024

Wow. ! Thankyou for that history. When did the big earthquake in the region happen?

Does anyone know anything about Kilkenny Drive in Asheville? My son and his family lives there and I can't reach him.
So sorry. I hope they are ok
From the map it looks like a lot of closed roads around that area. My brother and sister in law live in Asheville and they have terrible cell service but luckily got power back tonight. No gas stations or open grocery stores near them in south Asheville. Most roads around them are closed but the Lowe’s was open. Hopefully the water will recede and roads will open soon and power will be restored. There’s a LOT to be cleaned up in Asheville. My heart breaks for our region!!

Check a topographic map. They could easily be on high enough ground to be ok.

About 20 years ago I kayaked through Biltmore village. Crazy
Since Biltmore Village is so low next to the river it floods every few years to one degree or another. But it has never been as bad as this time with the water going over the first stories of all the buildings, so much worse.😢
My goodness! I just drove through there 2 weeks ago on my way home. One of the most beautiful places in the country. My heart goes out to all the people who are effected. Utterly devastating!
Read up on the great flood of the Mississippi in 1927.
Herbert Hoover headed a massive relief effort and it propelled him into the presidency.
No comparison of the Mississippi River to here. The Mississippi has lots of flat land around it for water to run. This is hill and mountain country in Appalachia where there aren't that many places for water to accumulate except close to rivers and streams.
Last storm here like this was 1916, is what they are saying, I know that they are going to have lost many people more when they are able to see what is under the water and landslides of the mountains, I wonder about the many homeless people who have been living in the streets and woods that probably didn't know what was coming, so very sad 😢

I grew up in north linthicum md. It was big time flooding in my area. Pataosco State Park was forever changed. Washed out a lot of the only road through the park..never to be built again. There is still a mangled tanker truck body in the park near the Pataosco river.

Imo, Fema has not done enuf for the states involved. NC, Tennessee, Georgia, south Carolina.
I guess noone expected devastation in the mountains
FEMA is not a first responders agency. There are no fema fire trucks police cars ambulances. They asses what's going on and compile resources to help. They suck even at that
FEMA takes a little time to rev up. Their help is never instant.
Thanks, Judy. I saw a lot of these pictures on The Weather Channel and my gosh what a disaster you know and they're not talking about too much on the news up here and I even on Fox News. Oh, my, and in contrast, Arizona-Sonora, still suffering extremely high temperatures without any rain. The Sahara dessert getting green. This planetary cycle will continue, as most of us know, and many people are already relocating around the world.
Sensible comment about climate change
A global climate cycle occurs over thousands of years. Current climate changes are not the result of a cycle but are caused by HUMAN ACTIVITY, and are occured rapidely. And this is proven by science. If nothing changes, disasters will become more and more numerous and more and more devastating
It's not natural weather. It's Geo-engineering. It can be activated anywhere anytime. Nothing is natural anyone.
You knew? Did you tell anyone?
Is a pole shift going on?

I have driven pretty much every single road shown in this video in the last year, and every day I say, "I'm glad I don't live there," and this is why. This might be unusual and even rare, but it's also not only foreseeable, it's inevitable. Deluges come...floods follow. You avoid it by staying the hell away from the water.
This was a rare circumstance multiple dam failures led to unprecedented and unexpected amounts of water and it came fast.
All humans can’t stay away from the water tho haha Water is life
@kolx270 yeah and if you look into those damns I bet they hadn't gotten upgraded in years.
Gosh I wish you were around when I bought this amazing house 300 ft directly over the Nolichucky River in NE TN! Not all river people live in a river bottom. I’m in a 500 year flood plain.
Stay away from water? You do know it floods in Death Valley every once in a while, too. 😄
SO INCREDIBLY & HORRIFICALLY SAD. GOD BLESS ALL THE FIRST RESPONDERS.
Amen...❤amen 😢😊
God is mythology for the less intelligent.
Your god sounds like a psychopath
Endorsing him makes you sound like one too
@@juliaturansky9728 Julia, I am truly sorry that you found my comment insulting.

13:02 Why would you build a hospital next to a river? And not evacuate before the hurricane?
That hospital was 400 miles from where the hurricane hit. And it flooded incredibly quickly (30 inches over 8 hours is what I read). All that water coming down the mountain, and no one knew to evacuate because it’s never happened before.
@@SassyButter Thank for the info. 30 inches in incredible. Especially in mountains terrain. I am glad there was a successful rescue. My problem is building next to a river. In a flood prone area. “never happened before”. All that flat land next to the river was laid there by floods. A hospital needs to be located in a worst case scenario because it would be needed for recovery. There should have been a plan in place for heavy rain alerts. Everyone has a phone and they would all ring a weather alert.
Note: I always got stuck with the safety programs at work. And safety is part of my life.
It was so rapid they didn't have time.
