Surfacing Materials Using a Toolpath on my Avid 4848 Pro CNC Router

In this video, I’ll demonstrate and discuss the processes I used to create a toolpath to surface a Douglas Fir slab to final thickness in Mach4 using my Avid 4848 Pro CNC Router.
First I’ll demonstrate the creation of 2 separate toolpaths. I’ll demonstrate the advantage of using Sheets in Version 11 and newer of Vectric Aspire or VCarve. I’ll calculate 2 separate toolpaths, setting the Z zero position to the material surface for one toolpath, and to the machine bed on the other. I’ll then save the g-code to my Flash drive.
On the CNC router, I’ll show you how I mounted my work material on my spoilboard, set the Z zero to the machine bed, and machined it to thickness.
Finally, I’ll wrap up by discussing the reason for creating the two toolpaths.
