I may be overthinking this, but: I think you've brought to light that what connects them is the contemplative mix of hope and fear underlying each theme. You picture Luke staring at the setting sons of Tattooine, wondering what his future holds. You picture Sonny Crockett in a phone booth, making what he thinks could be his final phone call before going off to confront the crime boss. Both themes have dark moments and moments of resolution. They're like life - at any moment, things could go either way, but... there's always hope. 🙂
