Thanks for posting that it's just what I was looking for. I made the pass yesterday sat 29july on slack water on the same path but was curious how to pass on a lower tide. Your post was very informative and cleared up a few questions. Thank you.
@@sailingcosiloveit ha very kind ! I sent your vid to my boating bud going with me , we are both eyes down in a cruising Anglesey book ref the straits , my mate watched it and said “ why couldn’t Mr I Digress ( the author) say it just like this . Going to watch it again many times . Thank you :)
@@sailingcosiloveit hi , sorry if I’m being a pest , may I ask , I’m on a deep V 7 m rib with a 150 hp is it safe for us to make the passage through the swellies some time before slack water ? Maybe 30 mins sooner ? Thanks in advance
I think with 150hp on a rib you are well in command and you have the power to go through at any time. Ribs don’t worry about the timings because they can always go faster than the flow. Max flood is about 13 knots and I’m sure you well faster than that. Given the choice I would look to push a little water in a power boat anyway
Look what I found, hello mike from Mike (last tango) Be taking this passage Sunday on returning from penbroke with friend he sent link to youtube passage and I was like I know that voice
It’s honestly not hard as long as you follow the path, which you will find easy as you have lots of time. It takes about 15 minutes to get through. It’s quite leisurely. Slack water is two hours before before HW Liverpool. You don’t go through at HW.
@@sailingcosiloveit thank you so much , been watching all your vids, very usefull. Ill be doing this passege this fri. first time driving my boat. lol. thanks again
Thanks so much for this crystal clear, unpretentious guide. Really useful and so much better than others I have watched.
Your very welcome, thanks for the comment 👍
Very useful as I will be doing the swellies NE to SW for the first time this summer!

Yes if you can do it with little water it’s a breeze at high slack
@@sailingcosiloveit if i could bother you one more time. how hard would it be 2 days after spring tide on high water ? cheers.
