Another excellent video - love the production and out takes too - and a perfect pilotage plan straight from the day skipper course - excellent and brought back all the memories!
@@sailingmadness By the way, I looked up the Swellies this morning, and no surprise you were nervous - I couldn't believe the size of ships that also use it too! My first pilotage was much less stressful - one marina to another in Southampton water, with the instructor remaining silent throughout and acting dumb which was very offputting, to say the least, but it must have been OK as I passed! Would be great to see your passage planning in future videos and also how to use the GPS and or paper charts etc thanks again David
Well from one Dave to another I wish you nothing but the best. Honestly I'm a land lubber so my hands didn't stop sweating until the video stopped. Happy sailing to you 😮
Excellent video. I will add this to my navigation playlist so hopefully you’ll have some views from my video suggestions. Thought block of 1970 buildings was supposed to be part of Bangor university campus. Interesting fact about 007😀 You were blessed with a mirror calm passage
To take the short cut before puffin island you turn off i think at red can b6 and go through the penmaen swatch . You then have to bere off slightly after the pool north west then line up with the conwy fairway bouy .
Glad you are enjoying them Rob. Plan is to go weekly when the sailing well and truly starts. I’d struggle for enough content at present as I’m not on the boat everyday.
Another really interesting video, Dave. Your adventures continue and it is great to be going along with you with each new presentation. Totally different from the Bus Videos of course, but just as absorbing in a different way. One question I want to ask, if you don't mind, is have Tim, Alan, Jess and Lord Barrington been on the boat at all? Now I am looking forward to the next episode.
Tim was supposed to be coming sailing this week, unfortunately that has now been postponed, but hopefully we will get a date in the diary soon. One thing is for sure, I’ll get the cameras out when I do take them sailing. 🎥⛵️
@@sailingmadness NWCC have a shakedown weekend over the bank holiday, from the Conwy down the Straits to Caernarfon. I may take part, but need to be able to clear my commitments which is a bit difficult right now. But definitely planning to be out on the water over the BH weekend sometime
Amazing how to “The Swellies” well done, never done it but now looking forward to it when the time comes. I notice you have a Rutland wind gen, I have a Bavaria similar to yours and was wondering if it’s worth getting one? Could you do a video on it, looking at how loud and what sort of output. Thanks 🙏
Great video as always at least your parents can visit more often and not to worry about the going up and down the ladder and loved the bloopers does the work require the boat been taken out of the water? If it does you will see it’s really dirty underneath.
Useful, got to move a new boat (to me) through the straits.
Emmon passing there at 7 mins :)
i used to water sky through there in my younger days

Thank you David. 🙏
Last time I went through I took the cut-through, as it was blowing 65mph and I was scared to death.
Sod that. You’re a braver man than me. 🤣
cheers great videos Ive watched them all, Can I ask who taught you to sail?
Thank you , what a super video.
Thank you Chris. 👍
Great video from Heathfields ⚓️

Awesome, thank you! Plan to do a passage in the opposite direction soon, which I will also video.

Thanks Mark, not sure I'd risk that unless someone with local knowledge is on the boat with me.
All videos watched and everyone enjoyed! Can we have them weekly...oh and don't spare all the technical detail! Thanks

Love transiting the Swellies, lots of challenges! The Royal Welsh have a good passage plan that I use 👍
I’m looking forward to doing it in the other direction at some point.

Hi Shane. Thank you 🙏. Good idea, I will do a review of the Rutland in a future episode, just need time to use it and see how it performs first.
