A woman who studied Economics at Oxford and The London School of Economics; worked as an economist at the Bank of England and The British Embassy in Washington DC. Then worked as an economist at HBOS. She has served as Shadow Secretary of State at the Treasury and is now Shadow Chancellor. On the the other hand, there's Jeremy Hunt, who studied Philosophy and politics at Oxford and has never held any public office with a Treasury portfolio. A Charterhouse Blue Tory boy, with virtually no financial background. Taking care of the rich and privileged, the Non-Dom tax dodgers, tax free banker and hedge fund bonuses, tax avoidance corporations and bloated energy companies. Whilst screwing the ordinary working people of Britain through cuts in living standards and increasing taxes. Same old, same old Tory robber barons.
And yet all her policy has been the same neoliberalism that the Tories shit out. Just with talk about it not being that. The clue is when Labour talk about 'responsible finance' fiscal rectitude and 'reducing the deficit'. She's no less a monetarist.
The fact that they brought in Gideon Osborne the Bolivian marching powder & hooker banger specialist to advise shows the level of incompetence! Osborne only has an 'O' level maths!!

I loved Frankie Boyle's comment: "The chancellor says he will turn the economy around: presumably so he can fuck it from the other end".

A man of taste, I see.

Got that right
She absolutely crushed it, this ruthless austerity can't possibly go on any longer.
Yeah she’s good
@Simon John understood - but both sides agreed in 2008 on the bail outs that left the coffers empty (at the time, Tories said they would do the same if they were in power). Under austerity that debt has nearly trebled, it had more than doubled before the pandemic. Maybe first-past-the-post has reduced our options too much, but this MP is good at her job.
Complains about austerity, complains about tax rises. Both or either are required to support the economy. Just the usual party political moaning about obvious required economic policy. Reduction to spending cuts would require higher tax hikes, hurting household income even further.
@Simon John Why exactly ?
@@jesuschristensen4182 austerity simply reduces the state and public services. All the closed services including libraries were never intended to return one day. The debt is an imaginary problem when you run a debt-driven economy based on a fiat currency.
I am a Sainsburys delivery driver and I will be surprised if the Tories remain. After Brexit people had high hopes even if remainers were upset. Recently I have seen customers crying, these are business owners and farmers and people who were really well off before. They are struggling now, I was struggling before so it hasn't effected me so much. But people are suffering who had it easy their whole lives. I'd be surprised if they stay.
Many farmers and business owners voted for brexit and these Tory ghouls. It's hard to have sympathy for them
Well there you go - Brexit a total economic disaster but even Reeves not really allowed to tell it like it is.
They of course will remain. Who replaces them if successful? Labour or LibDem are ow right wing. No matter your vote, left or right, you are voting rightwing (/-_•)\
They suffer because we have no politicians who are prepared to serve their people anymore (I doubt we ever had them to be honest). Our past few PM's and the current ar**e and his Chancellor, have links to an elitist NGO, called the World Economic Forum. And Starmer is a member of another one called the Trilateral Commission. Your troubles stem from there. That is one of the main reasons why things have never gone right. Before and after Brexit.
Anyone who had high hopes after brexit hadn't done their research.
Full marks to Rachel Reeves. Brilliant speech and not holding back. This is what we want . The Tories need to be exposed for what they are.
No Rachel is only good at accusing but if she was the chancellor now this would have been a disaster

Liz Truss was paid £4,750 per day as PM. That's what I earn per quarter of annum.
Non-Brit here: non-dom status boggles the mind. Why would any country have it, let alone one so developed and desirable as the UK? The fact Sunak’s wife is non-dom leaves me speechless. Thieves all!
This is how it works. Any person can be resident in uk as a non-dom for tax purposes unless they are a UK citizen. . All income made in the UK has to be paid in full for all UK Citizens but not non doms. What the do is set up Trusts and Companies in offshore British Tax havens like the the Channel islands, IOM, Cayman Islands but if they are not dom dom and never remit the money into the UK it is tax free except for the money they pay the accountants and governments their to look after it which is next to nothing.
I think you should pay tax only in the country where the money is earned, why should you pay income tax twice?.
@@johnavery3941 A UK passport does not automatically confer UK domicile. For example ; Zac Goldsmith was born in London and had non-dom status until it became public knowledge. The political embarrassment forced him into giving it up.

This Tory Government is a joke and has been failing this country for 12 years and they have to go. Sunak has missed the opportunity to make changes and to restore some dignity and reputation to the Tories and if you've not had enough then I really don't understand what it would take.

Good to see. And she can perform like this because everything she is saying she knows can be backed up by indisputable facts and figures. She’s angry. We should be too.
Way above anyone else for years!
To the point and with ideas how to put it right.
I don't agree with a lot the Labour party leader stand's for but this lady, has got it right and accurate.
Here is an idea, instead of carrying out tax rises and reduced public spending, why don't we close tax loops and tax havens and recoup the 100+ billion of unpaid taxes by the super rich, hedge funds and global corporations.
Doing this would mean no increases to tax, no reduction in spending. In fact we would have at least an extra 45 billion to invest in our country.
Because the Prime Minister and his Non-Dom wife are using those loopholes
Yes, then we can invest in dingy divers! Both parties are responsible for not getting taxes from the super-rich!
The super rich own the Government we all know it, perhaps hiding behind mock patriotism may no longer work hence plans to stop a lot of people being able to vote or protest.
They will never do that because that's how they stay rich. Just look at how many politicians have earned their money through hedge funds and global corporations and it is blatantly obvious. And don't get me started on the money that they made thanks to Brexit and Covid decisions that were made (I guess insider trading is allowed for politicians). They will never do anything that makes sense for the greater good of this country because all they care about is their own greed.
Honestly, in my opinion, the whole political system needs burned to the ground and rebuilt from scratch.
@@margaretcunningham9092 As far as I am concerned Labour sold out long time ago and the Tories have been finished in my eyes since Thatcher. We need new politics and new parties, ones who are not in the back pocket of the super rich and corporations.

For private water companies, transport companies, energy companies, bankers, millionaires and billionaires can rinse Britain as though it were a cash cow is utterly utterly disgusting.
These people are filth. Get them out.
Have to agree. I earned 21.5k at 19 in 2003 as a research assistant at the University of Oxford.
You would be lucky to get a chemist job above 23k now.
Put it this way you can earn more cleaning these days.
The worst thing is, that Blair DID find WMDs, he found biological and chemical weapons sold to Iraq from the CIA (woah, THEM doing something morally wrong, who'd of thought it?), and the civillian cost of the war was half that killed by Hussain, who was deposed as a result.
I left the UK after a year of the Tories in 2011, I still struggle to understand how people can't see that the UK is viscerally worse off after 12 years of this shit. It was worse after 1, I could only see it heading one way.
@@richardtuxford1812 I was luckily able to leave in 2002. I knew the Torys were a shameful mess full of liars and Eaton snots and I knew they would return to power at some point and lead the country in to a black hole. I could tell then they'd strip the UK of its assets because that's what vultures do. It was the best move I made but watching my family have to suffer unnecessarily has been heartbreaking.
I am in my mid 50,s I remember when labour was were in power in the 1970,s high unemployment the energy crisis the strikes the food mountains the mountains of rubbish pilling up in the streets people have short memories. Perhaps we should let Nigel have a go see what he can do.If Labour is in people complain if the Torries are in people complain
Your vote should be recorded in a secure confidential database. And when the government wants to put up taxes, only the people that voted for them should get the bill.
They are only to well aware of who voted for who nothing secret about your vote, the current project is to see how many they can stop exercising their right to vote.
More Rachel please.😀
Their smug faces just shows the contempt they have for us.
The Tories talk of high levels of employment.
But what the f is the point of being employed if you can't afford to feed your family?
We need to change now.
Just brilliant. No matter what you think of Starmer as a leader, he's put an incredible team of ladies together on the front bench, and Rachel Reeves is probably the best of them all.
True
Maybe but I think Rayner is more of a breath of fresh air. It’s nice to see a ‘says it how it is’ figure on that side of the bench, and I think it’s fair to say her speeches are the most passionate
@@joevenables3393 ive always liked rayner but recently she troubles me.
This is also my argument, I'm not a great fan of him but he has some great MP's. I will be voting Labour next GE.
@@pureplay7071 You might want to look up the Elitist NGO, the Trilateral Commission. Kier Starmer is a member. He's not on your side.
The whole Tory front bench laughs at the Dallas bit. It was pretty good.
Rachel Reeves I think is the star of the Labour Party who will go a long way. Articulate and so able to deliver the message ❤
Future PM right there
Amazing speech..very powerful
Rachel Reeves amazing speech. The silence and the walk outs from the Government Benches whilst she was speaking says it all
Knocked him out of the water with facts not retoric
@@kimaspindale9721 indeed, also so refreshing to hear a politician speaks facts for a change rather than the blatant lies we get from the government
True mate
Well said, Rachel Reeves. I am well impressed with the Labour women. Very important that Labour keeps up the message on the tory crimes during covid. And while I understand that rich amoral individuals would want to support the tories, what on earth are working class tory voters thinking of!!!???
That it would easily be much worse under labour. Fact
@@frenchonion8861 330,000 people died due to austerity measures of Cameron and Osborn and the Torys are at it again. They just help themselves punishing the workers or poor for Tory choices to funnel our money to the idle rich
@@frenchonion8861 I genuinely don’t understand how people can believe this. Is this just what the Mail prints? Can you not see how incompetent the conservatives are? Have you ever sat down and read up on Labours policies or do you just hear it second hand from tory backing news outlets?
Including Dianne Abbott?
I REALLY don't understand the mentality of those who say things would be worse under Labour! I certainly have my criticisms of Labour and Starmer, but FOR GOD'S SAKE how on earth could they be worse that this criminal mafioso government. To be fair, ANY party to the left of this shower would be far better. I have my preferences but realistically, it is Labour who are in the best position to oust this shambles.
brilliant......... Rachel thank you for speaking up for the working man this has to be the most heartless gov we have ever had thought thatcher was bad grew up under her but this lot cop it
Josie Smalling
Dead right, the eighties was a cake walk in some ways, compared to what this lot have put us through.
Ms Reeves on 🔥👏👏
The bit about pickpocketing was brilliant and true. These guys in the conservative front bench are smug and gross. Great speech.
A proper economist not a failed Hunt.
It’s going to be hard for the next couple of years , I can see real unrest coming
Tony Clarke , yes indeed, a very worrying prospect , I can also forecast a huge surge of unrest which, however justified , would open the floodgates of criminality, the country is in the grip of fraudsters from the top down , the prospective is frightening.
We're not allowed unrest following the policing bill.
She nailed it. We just need a early general election now
If the scandals keep coming that might just happen…
No use of general election, whoever comes next has to bear the music, the culprit is Mr Boris Johnson, easy going person who has misused the funds during pandemic lavishly spent and distributed the funds among the tory MPs without any economic plan. The UK public habituated for easy money and forgot the hardworking.
1st things 1st hunts package was easy to pick fault with however her response was just jawdropingly wonderful to hear .she couldve gone on and on
"You are all going to have to pay for the mess we created"
Remember that next voting time....
she was right on the money and where that money has gone. Excellent response to the Governments appalling failings.
Remind me , who left that note, sorry there's no money left, oh yes it was a labour mp. Lmfao.
@@davidedwards1336 I know that was funny
@@davidedwards1336 The tories will leave a note saying, "sorry no money left and we have left you with the biggest ever deficit on record". Currently it's 2.4 trillion pounds. Even before pandemic it was at a record high. So bring back Labour I say.
@@royboy565 yes the tories trashed our economy, fully backed up by wooden top starmer, and lib dumbs, iff starmer was prime minister we'd still be in lockdown.
She absolutely smashed this!! All they want is for us to go private, to libe their and their friends pockets down with the Conservative Party!!
Well said 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Rachel is a great speaker and should be head of any negotiations the uk should be involved with around the world .
Fabulous speech and she aced it. ❤
You Go Girl 👏 👍
Well said Rachel reeves
A brilliant speech which should be read by everyone in the UK. The smug Tories disgust me.
Great speech we really need to kick them out !
The metaphor comparing the Conservatives to Bobby Ewing and “Dallas” was both apt and clever.
👍🤣
it really is about time that this tory series was cancelled....
