    I would also recommend an encruzado wine from the Dão region of Portugal, it ages fantastically.

    I knew GV would be on the list! White Bordeaux is so underrated as a category, great wines!

    White Bordeaux is so good. I love the addition of Semillion to give it the body. I would add white Rioja.

    • @NoSediment
      @NoSediment  10 місяців тому

      Yes, it was also on my list. I agree, White Rioja can sometimes be more exciting than their red wine siblings. ✨

    Albarhino is one I like across the age spectrum as well. Those from northwestern Spain reward patience, but most are great young, in my amateur opinion.

    • @NoSediment
      @NoSediment  10 місяців тому

      Thank You! 🙏🏻 I added it in my original ‘five’ , but I ended up taking it out. I think majority think of Albariño as a easy drinking white wine and are surprised to see it can age. Therefore it is should be in the opposite list. 😂😂😂 But yes, good addition, I agree! 🥂

    When i started drinking wine with no knowledge, i tend to go with age of the wine. So u bought a 1997 Reisling JC becker. Drank it in 2013.
    Im telling u, i have never tried anything that beats that reisling. Taste sweet, floral and beautiful grape

      Riesling is one of my favourite grape and I think it is epic and can make memorable wines, as You have experienced. 🙌🙌🙌

    Just discovered your channel and it's fantastic! I'm new to wine and learning about pairings. I enjoy a pipe/cigar at times and wonder can wine be paired with it? And if so, what wines would you recommend?

    • @NoSediment
      @NoSediment  10 місяців тому

      Thank You! 🙌🙌🙌🙌 Pipes and cigars are a whole different and complex world I have zero knowledge about, therefore I will not be the best one to share any information here. I am really sorry though. 😓

    I just tasted couple of Lopez de Heredia vina tondonia blanco last week and I thought Rioja blanco might have a chance on your list.

    • @NoSediment
      @NoSediment  10 місяців тому +1

      No doubt about it. I was considering it, but I scratched it because, not all have that ageing potential, some do have a juicy immediate appeal without ability to age. But, yes, Rioja Whites are so exciting, I they definitely should have been mentioned here! 🥂✨ Thank You’ 🙌

    I didn’t know you could age white wine. Does that go for the cheaper stuff too?

    • @NoSediment
      @NoSediment  10 місяців тому +1

      Rarely, but there can be some exceptions. 🤷‍♀️

      I mentioned at the beginning, I will not include it. As the Burgundy. But yes, it also would need a video on its own.

    You left Hunter Valley Semillon from Australia off the list - wonderful young, but incredible after 20 years.

    • @NoSediment
      @NoSediment  10 місяців тому +2

      Aha! 🙌🙌🙌 I left it out very intentionally, actually. As I said in the beginning, I like my whites a bit more aged, and Hunter valley Semillon is one of those for me. Aged HVS is so much better than young. It develops complex nose, rich flavours, while young it can be quite neutral and very austere. But anyway it is a good addition and definitely should be considered. 🙌 Thank You’ 🙏🏻

    • @willpatchett1419
      @willpatchett1419 10 місяців тому +1

      @@NoSediment yes, a fair point. Being from Australia I actually don’t mind the austere/lineal profile of a young Semillon - depends on producer, as some will make an earlier drinker.
      Still a great a post as always 🙌👌🍷

      Another Australian here and I have to agree with Agnes. They simply aren’t great young.

    Kerner wines also age well. They're similar to and are often overshadowed by reisling.

    Great video. I've only recently discovered the biggest bang for buck that France has to offer, that is Loire Chenin Blanc, only have had Vouvray at this point but surely will venture out to other places the valley has to offer. I would've added Rioja blanco to the mix.

    • @NoSediment
      @NoSediment  10 місяців тому

      Yes, yes! 🙌🙌🙌 About the Chenin Blanc and about the white Rioja. I actually was considering to add it here. But I think I scratched it out because, not all of them are made to age. Some are really made in a easy drinking style. The best ones, of course, are so, so exciting. ✨🥂 with huge ageing potential 🥂

  • @VideosYesVideos

    Great video. I would include sparkling wine from California and France, and of course Sauternes and late harvest whites.

    • @NoSediment

      Great additions! 🙌🙌🙌 I guess, I was sticking to still dry wine styles, but naturally- You mentioned wines that are lovely to drink now and can have enormous ageing potential. ✨🥂

    Another great presentation!
    And great to see mention of Roussanne and Marsanne blends - these are delicious, underrated French whites.
    Also noteworthy are White Chateauneuf-de-Pape which are often exquisite blends that include not only Roussane and Marsanne, but Bourbolenc, Grenache Blanc and Picpoul (Gris and Blanc).
    Picpoul adds racy acidity to the blend and even has its own single varietal appellation: Picpoul de Pinet from the South of France.
    Grenache Blanc adds rich green plum and pear notes and ripens to higher sugar levels providing elevated alcohol and texture.
    Chateau Maucoil produces delicious White CNDP.
    Cheers 🍷🥂👍

      Thank You! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 I agree, we too often forget about the Rhone whites, which can be absolutely delicious and can really age releasing completely different aroma and flavour profiles. 🥂✨

    I just popped a bottle of 2010 Cour-Cheverny. When this was young I found it too lean & simple, but at 13 years it's delicious, and not at all too old. 100% Romarantin (plain "Cheverny" will be a predominantly Chardonnay blend, and likely won't age as well.) Best part? It cost me all of $8.00!

    • @NoSediment
      @NoSediment  10 місяців тому

      Wow, that is crazy good price for a wine that can age so well! Hope You enjoyed every sip! ✨ Cheers! ✨

    • @12Trappor
      @12Trappor 10 місяців тому

      Cheverny is mainly Sauv Blanc. It can be quite good! but I agree that Cour-Cheverny is far more interesting, a really unique wine. I have never had one as old as your 2010.
