    Amen and amen! Thank you so much! This -- the Immaculate Conception -- is the final major point of me turning from Protestantism to the Catholic Church, and you just connected all of the dots!

    Great video!
    Raised a Protestant and strongly considering converting to Catholicism.
    This discussion regarding the Immaculate Conception, triggered me to read the verse (Luke 1:35) not mentioned in this video that grabbed my attention and has opened up eyes.
    34 “How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?”
    35 The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will OVERSHADOW you. So the holy one to be born will be called[b] the Son of God.
    The words “will overshadow” in Greek is ἐπισκιάσει.
    episkiazó: To overshadow, to cast a shadow upon
    Original Word: ἐπισκιάζω
    Part of Speech: Verb
    Usage: The verb "episkiazó" is used in the New Testament to describe the act of overshadowing or casting a shadow. It conveys a sense of divine presence or influence, often indicating a protective or powerful covering. This term is used to describe moments when God's presence is tangibly felt or manifested, often in miraculous or significant events
    Cultural and Historical Background: In ancient Greek culture, shadows were often associated with PROTECTion and presence. The concept of a deity overshadowing a person or place was understood as a sign of divine favor or intervention.
    Back to verse 35, we can all agree that when it says the power from the most high refers to God. If so, based the Greek definitions and language information provided, what does God need to PROTECT Mary from?
    I believe it is from uncleanliness/sin. God’s shadow over Mother Mary never goes away once she conceives our Lord Jesus Christ.
    It is not a question of if Mary was sinless but when she became free and cleansed from all sin.
    I think Mother Mary became sinless once the Holy Spirt and the power of God overshadowed her to cleanse her from all sin for Jesus to be in her womb.
    I could be wrong.

    Nice explanation from Tim Staples. Marian doctrines are the ones that Protestants misunderstand the most. It is probably understandable because:
    1/. Protestants always protest against church TRADITION since the first century, since the days of the Apostles.
    2/. Protestants always regard Mary as someone who just bore Jesus and has no roles whatsoever in the days of Jesus and after the resurrection.
    3/. Protestants keep forgetting that Mary was the person who knew most about Jesus and Jesus' life before he was born, after he was born, during His ministry, during His last days, during His resurrection, post resurrection, during the acts of the apostles, and when she spent her last days among the apostles, especially with John, who wrote the Gospel of John and the Revelation.
    ======
    Think about this for a moment. Whom do you think Jesus would share about His incredible ministry and mystery with? Why do you think John said what he said in John 21:25? Who told John the deepest stories of Jesus from the most reliable source? How did Luke, Matthew, and Mark came to know about the story of nativity?
    If you think about those questions above, you would eventually say ONE name; MARY. Who knows better than Mary.
    Now, this is for you all, catholic and protestants alike, to ponder. To whom Jesus appeared first after His resurrection? Mary Magdalene right as the Bible says. Well, think again about John 21:25. In my humblest opinion, it is most logical that Jesus appeared to His Mother first. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I heard you. Not in the Bible you said. Boohoo. John 21:25. Why? Because Mary is the mother. Because Mary stayed with Jesus thru thick and thin till His death. Mary, the Mother of God in Flesh, was the most affected one human being on earth when Jesus was crucified. Which mother would not have grieved the most to see her son crucified before her eyes? SO, LOGICALLY, RESURRECTED JESUS WOULD APPEAR, VISIT AND CONSOLE HIS MOM FIRST. NOT ANY OTHER HUMAN BEING. (JOHN 21:25)
    ==========
    WHEN YOU LOOK DOWN ON JESUS' MOM, HE WOULD LOOK DOWN ON YOU TOO. JUST LIKE WHEN I LOOK DOWN ON YOUR MOM, I DONT BELIEVE YOU WOULD THINK HIGHLY ON ME.

Jesus, obeying his own law (which he came to fulfill perfectly btw, i.e. the ten commandments) honored his Father perfectly and ...guess what...he honored his mother perfectly as well...we as Catholic Christians just follow suit and do the same...and how may I ask does that detract from Jesus?...do you feel dissed by your spouse if he or she honors your mom because of who your spouse is to you...in a fam when you are espoused to your significant other, what does that person's mom become to you?...well your mom-in-law obviously...now transfer that to the order of Grace... the order of God's new covenant Family bought with the very blood of our eldest brother, our Lord Jesus...she becomes our mom in the order of Grace...its a new won family by our Lord... Until prots really obsorb that fact, 'Our Lady' or the 'Great Lady' as OT Israel called the mother of the king of Israel who, btw, had a throne set up for her by him at his right side, she will never have the place that Jesus has put her in their 'churches'...and salvation as by Jesus' design is given through the body, the bride, the church which, in fact, radically is him...all outta scripture brother... Don't believe me?...start digging deeper and get to know your Bible... Peace in Jesus my friend

    Glancing through some "Protestant" bible translations, they almost always say that Gabriel addressed Mary as "most favoured one" rather than "Full of Grace".
    I see from www.themichigancatholic.org/2014/05/is-mary-full-of-grace-or-just-highly-favored/ that the original Greek is accurately translated as "grace" not merely "favoured".
    That's another way that protestants can reject this particular argument.
    ****************
    On another note, since Mary is the mother of Jesus (God) her part was to provide the humanity for God as the Holy Ghost provided the divinity of Our Lord.

      Anna . what does Mary have to do with our redemption or the death of Christ on the Cross ? She was at the Cross when he died and so were a lot of other women the Beautiful Mary Magdalene and she went with him to the Grave or Tomb which his mother didn`t care enough to go and Mary Magdalene was the first to see him and talk to him after the Resurrection . Her being dead has nothing to do with the New Testament Covenant which Christ mediated .

    What does the Bible say about the immaculate conception of Mary? Answer: absolutely nothing. Under the heading “Immaculate Conception,” The Catholic Encyclopedia admits: “No direct or categorical and stringent proof of the dogma can be brought forward from Scripture.”

      2. secondly Jesus is the new Adam also born without sin
      3. Mary is the new Eve conceived without sin because the old Testament types were shadows that that couldn't be greater than the New Testament fulfillment otherwise Moses Adam, Moses etc. Would all be greater than Jesus, similarly Eve who was mother of all can never be greater than Mary who is the Mother of all who obey God's commandments according to revelation 12:17. Neither can the old Testament Ark of the covenant be greater than the new Testament Ark of the covenant which is Mary containing, the Word of God Incarnate, the True Manna from Heaven (Jesus) and the True High Priest just like the old Testament Ark contained the The Jar of Manna, two tablets of God's commandments representing the Word of God and Aaron's Rod that budded representing the high priest as we read in Hebrews 9:1-5, I can go on and on but perhaps this isn't the best place to have a lively discussion. @@JesusMary_I_Loveyousavesouls Read this slowly from one of your own Catholic publications. As The Catholic Encyclopedia says under the heading "Immaculate Conception: "No direct or categorical and stringent proof of the dogma can be brought forward from Scripture.” It adds: "In regard to the sinlessness of Mary the older Fathers are very cautious. . . . The Greek Fathers never formally or explicitly discussed the question of the Immaculate Conception.”
      So, does the Catholic Church really believe the Bible supports the Catholic teaching that Mary was born without sin? The answer should be obvious.
      One other thing. Nowhere does the Bible say Mary is "new Eve." That's just more Catholic nonsense.
