Imagine hearing this in a forest randomly while on a walk
i would stop walking and just listen. it would also scare the absolute crap outta me.
This is hitting me right in the feels about now.
Rest in Peace Vanguard 2023, hope to see you again. ❤
they're coming back!!
This was beautiful. From the first notes you could tell this was a conversation not only between performers but the activity as a whole. Great concept that beautifully executed.
Pros all the way. Fantastic Production !!
Phenomenal sound mixing. Every DCI show should be recorded like this at least once.
We will wait for you Vanguard!
That drumline never disappoints
It's a breath of fresh air
@@jeromieb038 I literally *just* commented on Paul's post on FB saying it was refreshing!
gotta love rennick
I know! They must have been playing together longer than a weekend, no?
NEVER disappoints!!! They would’ve definitely won a 5th straight Sanford…💯
A well-placed callback to this during 2022's production could be a lovely little easter egg. This absolutely must become part of SCV lore!
I know this year isn't about comparing groups, but I can't help but notice how much more tasteful and well-realized this is compared to Blue Devil's production. You can see, hear, and feel the difference - A perfect blend of modern and traditional drum corps. Bless all the performers this year, but something about BD's production seemed out of touch.
(This is coming from someone who marched Blue Devils for years as well as Vanguard Winter Percussion when it was around, and has nothing but love for all my bay area corps!)
Honestly watching Blue Devils video, I get the feeling that if they had the choice, that's the kind of thing they would be doing rather than a full drum corps show. Some kind of cool weird artistic video.
@ARZiehm SCV is what I saw first, and even though I'm a sucker for high-range baritone duets, I was totally blown away by how gorgeous this video looks and sounded. After reading this comment, I went to go find the Blue Devils production for this year out of curiosity, and while BD's performance was certainly 'out of touch', your comment had me expecting at least something resembling drum corps. I'm kind of shellshocked after watching that and I'm not even epileptic.
Other Worlds had its merits. The important thing is that they were together. I thought the extra electronics were interesting. The SCV piece is simply beautiful. Been playing it constantly.
Real talk there could be something to this. I feel like live performances are going to stick around. But what if groups started having virtual ensembles made up of age outs?
Especially if they could record in cool places like this! That would definitely propel the medium into more of an art form instead of a competition.
Watch the blue devils video... It's not good
@@cartermize6651 its also mostly not actual BD members.
@@bazingabot2311 wait really? What was it then?
@@cartermize6651 I feel like that's a rare exception because between this and what a lot of the WGI groups did this could be a really cool outlet for these ensembles.
Just beautiful composition and execution. I absolutely loved this performance. Anaheim Kingsmen member (77, 78, 07). I so remember my rookie year (77) seeing and hearing SCV for the first time and I knew instantly this was a special corps. Loved them ever since. Keep up the great work and tradition of a world class organization.
I am of 60's drum corps heritage and sometimes critical of present day corps'. This was beautiful and I love the choreography.
god the baritone duet sends me into space it’s so beautiful
Look man.....i gotta be honest. Im a die hard fan of another DCI group. Saw their video submission. It left me with a headache. Not knocking what they did...it just....wasnt for me. This though. This is amazing. The music. The visual display. Awesome job to all those involved. If THIS is where DCI could go, id be down for that. Simple and smooth. No raves. No trance. No techno. Just awesome music.
Was it the blue devils vid?
@@jonjonsmediocreedits2348 ........
Yeah the BD vid complete with sexytimes in da club and boots n cats, just no.
I'm just glad they didn't do thriller.
I agree, if Drum Corps turns to a rave club with no skill like Blue Devils I am 100% leaving the marching arts forever.
I'm not crying, you're crying....well done SCV. Worth listening to on a bigger system, with a decent subwoofer. The sounds totally envelop you. Only thing better would be seeing it live. Loved it!
I'm not sure that seeing it live would be better. Then you wouldn't be able to see any of the cool camera tricks. I feel like those add a lot to the overall feel of the video, and it wouldn't be the same without them.
IKR
I clicked this video just expecting an average dci show but damn
To any and all people who either march SCV's drumline, or teaches, you are always impressive. You clearly show what every other Corp is trying to be. Flawless!!!
Snares are always clean. Tenors are always next level jedi. Holy sh*t, you're always amazing.
Aged out in ‘82. Tenor line. Great to see there is still an emphasis on clean beats. Love the drum book. And I was spoiled by the writings of Fred Sanford and Ralph Hardiman.
Just beautiful
I love how they took uniform designs from past shows! I can see Ouroboros, Babylon, and Vox!
Definitely got more Babylon vibes but I can definitely see the others too
Not a huge fan of the new style of uniforms.
you just have to love the way that rennick writes his books
As always, SCV never fails to remind us what they are all about in one word - "CLASS"
The perfect creative realtime marriage between drum corps, the environment and media. I was captivated from beginning to end. Musicianship, finesse, and elegant performance as known to be Santa Clara Vanguard. Bravo to the staff for what you draw out of these young adults. In a word "Dynamic" Magnificent drumline. Waiting for you! In 2022!!!!! FMM OF THE BAYONNE BRIDGEMEN 1976, 1977, 1978
What’s up Joey, don’t know if you remember Earl Deas from the NY Lancers back in the day
May be one of the most beautiful pieces I have ever seen and heard in this activity. Where can we as DCI go from here. Love all that DCI does and has done to inspire so many performers and instructors alike and to keep our hopes and dreams alive. We will conquer and come together again. Today we are not just brass, drum and guard, we are musicians, sound mixers, videographers. Today's performers exhibit what it means to be artistry and unity in motion working respecting one another to make the world a better place through their art. We are all connected as One.
I'm a hard core Bluecoats fan living in Canton, Ohio but I saw this at Indianapolis last August and am 100% totally in love. You won 2021 with this production. Would love more videos like this in the future from more corps. I listen to it all the time and am absolutely mesmerized by the music and the video.
I love the throwback to 2018's tenor solo at 5:03. Really great combination of all the books Rennick has written for Vanguard!
I seriously believe SCVG should bring this to the field! How beautiful!
This beautiful performance brought tears to my eyes. I didn't realize just how much I've missed this. SCV has once again demonstrated their commitment to excellence. Great job all!
Would love to see this adapted into a field performance
BEST performance of the year hands down! Beautiful performance, beautiful music. Wow...just WOW!! Well done SCV, miss you on the field.
I have differing opinions on that but you're damn right it was beautiful. Why can't corps do this every year? It's not about the scores for me as much as it is the performance. I can go out on the field with my band and play my heart out and not worry about what score we may have gotten, so long as I put my best effort into it.
Jesus Christ, absolutely beautiful. SCV has always been known for class.
Absolutely amazing. The class, the excellence, the passion. Its all there and hungrier than ever!!! DO IT UP SCV!!!! ❤️💚
Drum corps is evolving. Bravo Santa Clara 🥲🥲🥲👏👏👏
Honestly in 2022 I think a lot of corps are gonna focus on the performance. These performances from a lot of corps were beautiful and I want to see more of it.
So Proud of these amazing men and women. So classy, so excellent, so Vanguard. Thank you so much SCV.
YES!!!!
For the first time in a long time, I stopped what I was doing and was moved the core. SCV, you are the definition of the term "World Class."
This. Is. Amazing.
No singing, no trombones, no drum set, finally back to original DCI sound! I'll ignore the electronic keyboard they hid in the back.
Absolute ACE performance! Forever SCV...can't wait to get those same chills in the stands once again to your fabulous showmanship!
SCV 21>BD 21
😂😂 good one!

BD’s video was so trash. drunk people dancing in a club to techno music lol
I’m still not tiring of watching and listening to this - such a beautiful composition, fantastic setting, perfectly performed.
Thank you Santa Clara, it's really incredible, love my corps, this corps!! Thank you for many emotions.
HOLY GOOSE BUMPS!!! What an emotional well thought out production. I wouldn't expect anything less from SCV.. Many thanks to all of you, it made my day complete!!!
Great job #1 in my book you won this year
ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL ALL!!! THIS WAS AMAZING❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU FOR BRINGING MUSIC TO LIFE 🙏🥰
This format was brilliant and this is my favorite show of 2021!
I guess the only question now is "will the audio be available to purchase or on any music streaming services?" Because I want to be able to hear this whenever, but I also don't especially want to get UA-cam Premium just for this.
There’s so much meaning in this music and the pageantry that it brought tears to my soul. It was fabulous. All of you should be so proud for the tremendous visual effects and the beautiful spirit that you brought forth with this magnificent, impressive and exceptional Drum Corp success that was performed with utmost musicality and superb dedication. Thank you so much 💕
Santa Clara Vanguard…….always the best
Thank YOU. THERRRRRRRRRRE'S My Vanguard!!!!
the guard and their reflections in the water are just magic. great shot, drone guy.
If only Flo's audio was this good...
Flo's audio is some of the shittiest I've seen, deadass
Fanguard for life and this why. 💚❤😎
Creativity is in endless supply and I adore seeing it put to work. This was a beautiful production that is outside the box of what we usually see from DCI. I absolutely loved it. Very visually moving, great sound, lovely setting and well executed. Proud of you all!
STUNNING!
Amazing performance by all, hopefully you are all very proud of this.
This is such an amazing version of this song and just as sentimental and emotional. Galen Hooks would be proud
The solid piano note at 7:25 to end this masterpiece.
This would look and sound really nice in an actual show.
Absolutely stunning. The flow of the music, choreography, and cinematography was exquisite. A piece of art for the soul.
Man this is a whole other level of awesome compared to live shows. The filmography, the editing, the location... it adds so much to the experience.
Nothing beats hearing a brass line live though…
@@TopDrumCorps what about being in the brass line?
@@macerunner4674 I don’t know 🤷♂️ only have been on the snareline
da horns posted up on the rocks is sick
I am here for this! That... was emotional. SCV was the first corps ever (not the last or only) to bring tears to my eyes. You did it again. The title could not have been more appropriate. For you SCV, for the wonderful souls in your organization who we are missing even now, we will wait.
Wow. I know this was done in absence of the normal end of season shows in 2021, but I would love to see corps do this more often. What a great way to present your show and highlight your talent.
This is why I always have and always will love the SCV
We waited, and the returned.
An incredible and dynamic work of art. I can imagine a competition score written with this being the theme. Santa Clara would be bringing some more medals home for sure and, possibly the DCI Championship Trophy.
Stunning!! Beautifully done. Music and performers meshed so well.
If only we can watch this performance live. OMG This is so perfect😍😍😍
The white coloration and bloom effect makes this look like midsommar.
Just stunning. This is so deep and so beautiful, it kind of makes me want Vanguard to make a video every year. (hint) Bravi Vanguard!
A production like this is what my eyes and ear have been thirsting for. We need more of this production style! Pardon my language, but #soundgasm. My ears needed this love. 🥰
This is one of the most incredible works of art I have seen in a very long time. Stunning musical performance and expressive, artistic filming and editing. More talent on display and a true masterpiece. Thank you to everyone who had a hand in making any part of this gift to us all. Bravo/Brava.
From old school drum Corp dude this was amazingly beautiful , job well done. Thanks
Thank you, SCV.
Mindblowing. I’m speechless. Everything is on point. Big love from Indonesia
the best marching song I have ever heard,REALLY NICE!!!
I am absolutely speechless💕✨
Nothing but beautiful and unforgettable
Just finished watching! Beautiful! Just…. Beautiful!
Oh look at that, SCV did the thing again.
Mesmerizing! So beautifully produced!
Truly amazing work!!
Um.... WOW. Rich, substantive, innovative and soulful. I am moved, inspired and so very proud.
TNPLSC ❤💚
this video is a masterpiece oh my god
should receive an award of some kind for sonority and creativity within such a small genre
So Classy. Very proud of you SCV.
This is absolutely magnificent.
This was a beautiful performance. I fell in love with it as soon as it started only to fall harder as it went on.
Brilliant adaptation of your astounding show and an amazing artistic production video!
A real class act as usual. Great production! Interesting from start to finish. Thanks!
That’s really classy. Thanks SCV from New Zealand
Magical to hear, watch & experience!
I'm blown away... just wow.
Breathtaking
SCV Cymbals 4-Ever!
The last few years to me SCV has gotten just more dynamic and powerfully. Artsy not corny neither. Awesome performance as always different this year because we know why but really creative what corps did this summer despite all things going on.
Honestly. I absolutely love Babylon, and while Vox Eversio wasn't really my vibe it wasn't bad. This, however, knocks it out of the park.
Wow this brought tears. Incredible.
this is so dope....im just jealous i couldnt be a part of it's production! how fun!!!!!!
Fun! Thanks for putting in the work to make this!
Yes.
Damn PC Principal is a sick quad player
Snare break is fireee
Outstanding!
This is making my brain do cartwheels. Incredible job
Simply amazing! Truly are no words on the next level production of this. I guess I should expect no less from the best though. Trendsetters.
Love love love!
