Hey, don't think I wouldn't notice you here! You're not slick! I just discovered Crazyeightyeight Nitroglycerin about a week ago! Equal chills during the "Put the barrel between my TEETH" part... Growing fan of yours. Tetsuo video made me smile too. You're also a spiritbox fan?! Makes me like you guys all the more! Keep rockin!
@Mr Spacetime No disrespect, but I feel you've mistaken who you replied to for Courtney LaPlante, the former vocalist for IWABO and current for SpiritBox. This is Lauren Babic, who's the lead vocalist for CrazyEightyeight and red handed denial. I recommend you check them out, they have a cool sound. You're kind of accidentally asking Lauren to check your stuff out while not checking their stuff out. No biggie smalls though, just thought i'd let you know.
The world needs some SpiritBox and CrazyEightyeight colab soooo bad!! :) or at least Lauren Babic as guest vocals or Courtney LaPlante as guest vocals for each other's bands xD
The biggest thing with screaming is diaphragm control and using enough air rather than restricting your throat. That's where a lot of screamers mess up and ruin their voices
@@SpiritboxOfficial but the color is close enough to fool most of us anyway! Fucking amazing performance by Courtney here. I only discovered you guys via a reaction channel last night, but I am an instant fan!
I love her screams she generally sounds upset and angry kinda how Corey used to sound back in the self titled and iowa days. Just full of rage and emotion
02:53 this one must be one of the hardest vocals that someone can do, i mean is a very thin line between scream and clean. it got me goosebumps immediately
Jinjer is my #1 and Spiritbox is my #2... EASILY! I actually discovered Jinjer by doing a UA-cam search for "new iwrestledabearonce," where I found Spiritbox's "Mara Effect, Pt. 1." Saw Tatiana in the top thumbnail to the right for "Pisces," and the rest is history. Got myself and my son VIP meet n' greet tickets for Jinjer in Seattle November '19. Ridiculously excited, but super bummed that Spiritbox isn't their opener! That would be... the... most... insane... show!
I’m a year late but I just found this band like a week ago and holy fuck. And this woman, I swear, Courtney has easily some of the most crisp and consistent screams I’ve heard from any artist out there in a very long time. Huge props.
My day started off promising& ended in hopelessness. Seeing these two beautiful women perform together really cheered me up& pulled me out of sadness. God bless you both ❤
Oh hey, fancy seeing you here. Fuck man, I feel like we're blessed regarding female metal vocalists with Spiritbox and Jinjer emerging out of the woodworks the last few years.
I love that four note thing you do at 1:49, Courtney. It seriously gives me chills and I was like, super hoping it sounded the same when I clicked on this video, because it was my favorite part of the song. It still sounds great here, and still my favorite part. Your screams are executed so impressively, and sound super angry and cool. You should be super proud of what you are doing in this band. All of you guys should be. That string bend that Mike is doing and that tone he got with his tuning just sounds insane. Bass is super cool and groovy, and add to the atmosphere so well during that half way slowdown. Drums sound punchy and bouncy, really satisfying. Super inspiring and this band sincerely has one of my favorite sounds. Just wanted to say thanks and you guys deserve every bit of success that comes your way. Been trying to share and spread awareness as much as possible on social media, and even sat my fiance down for a listen as well as a couple of friends who wouldn't normally groove to this kind of thing, but just felt I needed to share it.
Her vocals (not the literary content) pretty much represent how I feel on a daily basis! Listening to her sing feels like going to church for me! Unbelievably comforting!
I've listened to this song probably close to 1,000 times, not exaggerating, but when you came in with the "I WAS ALIVE!" after the clean part... I've never gotten chills like that before. Holy shit. Please don't ever stop.
She doesn't need any filter or studio enhancement to sound as fucking awesome as she sings. Courtney has a really well developed technique and vocal control.
I'm a little sad, that I discovered u only two months ago...but I'm even more happy that I discovered u in such shitty times...good music helps with everything!
Incredible vocals from Courtney as always, the melody really works so well with the sharp timbre of Courtney's screams as well as her mesmerising flute-like clean vocals. Also love her look here, that colour is great on her and her hair looks awesome. FINALLY I love her energy when she's screaming "I was alive" so powerful. Much love to Spiritbox, only bangers and not a single bad song from this band!
This band is in a league of its own. The music, lyrics, and vocals (especially) define the word "visceral". I hope you guys play a show in Montreal soon!
Spiritbox combines many types of metal, you got the deathy screams on top of killer progressive instruments, angelic cleans roll in melodically awesome and then you guys take the songs in super cool directions awesome intros breakdowns and outgrow are my fav parts of songs!
I had this playing in the background with autoplay turned on, and then the official music video played right after, and I seriously could not tell which was the album version. Rock solid vocals, seriously impressive.
The body language and facial expressions for the scream at 2:30 look simultaneously like just some stylistic flair and like an insanely deep understanding of how she has to mentally and physically position herself to nail that beastly tone
This is so damn good. All your live performances are incredibly amazing, can't get enough of your music. And oh my god, I love your cleans... and then 2:24. Perfect mix of cleans and harsh vocals in general for me. Goosebumps all the way, just like in all your other songs. I'm already hyped af to see you live next year!
Imagine bumping this out of 1965 hardtop Chevy Impala SS... the interior, the color of her top, that gray on the walls would look nice. That, primer look. No tint, who cares who sees anything, let them know who's rolling. 🤘😆🤘
First scream comes and it sounds like she's loosing her voice, a minute and 40 seconds later, it becomes clear her voice is PERFECTLY intact, almost 3 minutes in she goes lower and lower and stops sounding even slightly strained, then the last few screams go back to sounding incredibly strained! It's dam impressive to not only have the skill to go that fucking hard for 4 minutes, but choose when to make it sound like a struggle, and when to sound like pure power, and still have more than enough left to sing softly with nuance when she needs to. AND THIS WAS 5 YEARS AGO? Girl, Courtney is SO good, every new single, hell, every new recording of something I've heard before (live performance of circle with me with Tatiana says hi) I'm jumping up and down with excitement.
I just found this band 2 days ago on Instagram and im obsessed. Im shocked that I randomly saw IWABW once like 10years ago. I cant believe its the same vocalist. I love her clean vocals im so glad this side project/ new band came out of that. Buying some merchandise and sending some links to make this band expand!
yes !! a lot of people look in pain when they scream and not only is it hurting them but it makes us as viewers cringe she looks completely calm it’s nice
even after everything we've got from you guys, this one still got to be my favorite song of yours. whenever someone tells me that metal is just rage and aggressiveness (which i absolutely do not stand with), this song just, for some reason, comes to mind for how brutally raw it is
I'm always impressed when such emotion comes seemingly effortlessly, not relying on almost theatrical body language. It sounds great! I love to be able to follow your band from the start and see it rightfully grow in recognition.
FUCK YES! I am beyond words seeing how effortlessly Courtney bangs back and forth from low to high and from clean to dirty! SPIRITBOX is 100% on my 2019 to see list!
what a fantastic age of music and technology we live in, where people can see the artists they covet perform live in the studio, not really ever listened to Spiritbox, more a early era deathmetal fan, but i absolutely dig this vocal performance!.

@@kai-ij6st, yeah exactly! She's great at both clean and screaming vocals. Plus what you said, it adds a lot more to the song.
the last syllable of "darkness" was seriously out of tune, but I honestly don't blame her at all, this stuff is not easy to do

The "I was alive" part literally makes me lose my breath. Incredible.

These live performances are dope please keep doing them 🔥
The guitar and bass are so seamless, thick, dense riffs. Like a foggy day. Throw Courtney's eerie vocals in the mix and this song is an absolute mood
As much as I really love Jinjer I find myself getting more emotional resolve listening to spiritbox.
Really glad I stumbled upon them recently.
same goes with me Courtney's voice is raw and sounds crystal clear next minute love it
I wish every success for band that I unintentionally discovered when researching the meaning of the word perennial.
