I have another step I use occasionally, which is soak them in vinegar solution. I do this after hand washing in water and before putting them in the washing machine. It removes some of the more stubborn oils and restores absorbency for water, especially after using them to apply wax/polish. It also helps in case you accidentally used fabric softener, which happened to me several times.
Good advice. I tend also to put my dirtier cloths on a quick wash cycle before doing them with the others. A lot of the dirt and contaminants are then removed beforehand. I also use a lower spin speed with them as they're already wet then before the others are added in a new wash. It saves some water & energy in a way. I still have some cloths that I bought 10 years ago. Okay, they're not front line any more, but still have a use! Take care and keep the content coming ☺
Great video will just add that by making sure you don’t at any detergent or conditioner some people need that pointed out believe it or not . and if i’m really greasy from engine bay et pre-wash with distilled vinegar is great and doesn’t damage the clothes .
Great content, I use a cap full of surfex hd in warm water to help break down any dirt and greese lurking in the cloths,I let them sit for half an hour then put them on a 30 degree wash, followed by 10 mins in the dryer on a low heat, this gives them their softness back then maiden or washing line. I always start of with the least contaminated clothes first like glass clothes then I'll use the same water for my interior . I'll do completely separate soaks and washes for my polish and waxing clothes. One thing I have found that help is if my clothes are stained when I'm soaking them in a bucket I'll drop a scoop of pink stuff stain remover into the water first and dissolve .this works a treat.
Great video Dave, I learned something new today, from watching other video on this same topic, I have to say for me you nailed it, Great video Dave👏👏👏👌
Just watched this now - very informative and clear. I would just like to know roughly how long you’d wash microfibre clothes/drying towels for. My guess would be 1:30 hours!? And what’s the most and least preferred setting, or does it not matter
As always, it’s very interesting to watch your ideas and tips. My method is to use a pure soap product like ‘Fairy’ liquid washing soap (Because of the additives avoid using a biological soap or Bold which contains a conditioner) and avoid powder or sachet products as these do not always dissolve properly at low temperature. Using Fairy or a supermarket own brand product is a bit cheaper than using a dedicated micro fibre soap and works just as well. I NEVER, EVER, use a conditioner as this damages the pile and stops the towels working properly (absorbency) and has the potential to cause streaking on glass and paintwork. Incidentally never use conditioner on your teams replica football shirt or other tops that are designed to wick perspiration as conditioner effects their functionality too.
Great video! Very helpful! May I know what's the purpose if sorting them in pile? Wash them one by one per pile? By the way, do you know if the Microfibre Reviver you used can be bought anywhere in Canada? Thanks a tons!
hello id say most brands who release proper microfiber chemicals would have done serious testing before release so should be a few good ones out there i reckon. i sort my cloths into piles because if i mix glass cloths with interior cloths i could get cross contamination then have residue in my glass cloths which would be a mess
@@epicautomotivedetailing Thanks for your prompt reply! Yeah, it makes sense to not letting them be contaminated. Thanks for your advice on microfiber detergent too! Your videos are just marvelous!! I was just watching how you clean the car bay under the hood. Excellent!
Good video, and i have done some research. I can buy 2 litres of non bleach, non softening detergent from Aldi, ideal for micro-fibre if you follow the correct method. From an auto store 1 litre of DEDICATED micro fibre cleaning detergent, nearly identical, i went to the trouble of checking their Data sheets. Aldi 2 litres for $4.80. Auto store 1 litre for $25.00. What about pads? I throw them in the washing machine as well together with my other clothes, but they always come out with a different color than they were used to be (they mostly turn black after the first wash). Are they still okay to use then?
Oops, my wash routine is quick wash in a bucket with some citrus as soap and wring them out and hang to dry. 😂 Mrs would never let them near washing machine.
Meh ... that's a lot of money to spend on 1 bundle for each area/surface on the car. Geez. Car detailing business is really massive in terms of expenses (water-use, car washing products, car shining liquids, tools, machines etc.) I'm probably starting a company in Denmark, but Denmark is quite a harsh environment to build a company due to our high taxes, VAT and other fees n' expenses to the state + carbon dioxide financial accounting. Anyway, do you or any of your subscribers/followers have a solution to polishing silver aluminium trim on Mercedes cars? It's a common problem on Mercs but I can't seem to find the solution. Sorry to be so random, but I'm stuck!
I haven't made a video on that yet but to sum it up check this guy out 🙏 ua-cam.com/video/rbG81CF9X4g/v-deo.html
@@epicautomotivedetailing Dave, you're an absolute gent. Thank you mate. Much appreciated. 🙏
Great tips i do the same, also dont ever use powder detergent in my early days i did that and did not go well xD
Thanks luis
A big 👍 from me on this video.
Another good tip is having a good washer, some washers can’t actually rinse properly or their not good at all at removing stains
Yeah I need to add more tips to description. Was going to make a longer video on this subject but was testing waters before I invested any more days editing so may do longer video next year
Good job 👍
Thank you
My drying towels are not absorbing anymore... I think it is because I use ceramic drying aid.
Is there a trick to bring them back to live. ?
My glass cloths have gone a bit crap. Leaning fibres on the windscreen. Are they knackered ? Not even that old. Cheers Joe.
Did you wash them with normal clothes or anything cotton?
@@epicautomotivedetailing like the amateur I am yes I did unfortunately.
Very interesting and helpful, thank you! I’m more of a part time weekend detailer and full time aircraft mechanic. As for what you found… I’m guessing some sort of old pasta? Taste it🤣
Lol there was more to this video but I removed it before it went live as it may if caused offense so I'll put it on Facebook page to reveal what it was
Tips to remove brake dust plz??
Perfect timing watching this as I’ve Just bought new detailing clothes. I will give this ago so thanks…
Oh and by the way I think that bit of alien junk you found was pasta 😂
lol yeah it was pasta. the kids just make a mess 😂
I just hand washed them in a sink with a detergent, simple! Although tiring sometimes but only how my fancy is tickled.
Yeah I used to do that. I gave so many towels now. Definitely need some fresh ones
How do you store used microfiber before you wash them? Will dried polish or paint protection ruin the mf?
Only throw them away if they have proper ceramic coatings on
Can I have a dedicated towel for ceramic coating ? Rewash and reuse the same towel only for ceramic coating, is that okay?
I don't reuse ceramic coating towels
@@epicautomotivedetailing dang you just throw those away?
Nice points dave.........is it just me or do you have the slimmest washing machine in the world? Either that or your washing machine is part of your wall??? 😳😲, never seen that pal 🤣👌 good space saver!! Some good points on washing microfibre towels.....cheers pal 👍
Lol conspiracy theorists will say it wasn't a real washing machine 🤣
How do people rate valet pro products
I ordered few bits last month. Filmed a Ferrari with some and was impressed so far. Will be uploading next month
@@epicautomotivedetailing thank you. Just starting my mobile valeting business now. I was a valeter many years ago and used to use a company called Trafalgar direct. But wanted to find a bit more of a reputable company without charging the earth!
What about pads? I throw them in the washing machine as well together with my other clothes, but they always come out with a different color than they were used to be (they mostly turn black after the first wash). Are they still okay to use then?
Good question I always wash pads by hand and a toothbrush
40 degrees F or C?
Dave totally shocked to see you airing your dirty laundry in public lol, great advice as always every day is a school day!!!!
Lol thanks
Confused now, the microfiber wash I am using says to wash at 60 degrees?
Wouldn't go too hot mate to be in safe side. But then again they can be replaced 😃
Oops, my wash routine is quick wash in a bucket with some citrus as soap and wring them out and hang to dry. 😂
Mrs would never let them near washing machine.
this video made me laugh several times, especially 'Don't lick it' hahaha
😁
Meh ... that's a lot of money to spend on 1 bundle for each area/surface on the car. We drown if freakin' loads of paperwork before we have a penny for ourselves. This really makes me wonder if car detailing industry is something I can or want to do - even though I love doing it 😔
Thanks for all your work in terms of putting out informations to us - appreciated a lot!
I sit there like a madman brush the fluffy buffing cloths to get and bits up and make them fluffy. Kids think I’ve lost it.
Lol you don't get the boxing gloves out then.
i hear you, my cats just wait for them to be folded and on the worktop to be returned to the car shed, and then make a bed out of them, especially the buffing ones.
do u all wash your dirty microfiber in your regular clothing washing machine? do u get some polish if u wash your clothes later?
What happens if you don’t have microfibre detergent
Your better off just getting some the cost per wash is the same as normal detergent. So Keep dedicated detergent won't cost extra in reality
I don’t own washing machine with good technology. Can I just hand wash them twice?
Yes
@@epicautomotivedetailing tide scentless detergent safe to use?
Not everyone has precise temp settings on their washing machine, you should just say either warm, cold etc.
Trust me I'm 100000000% with you on that one. I actually did a video saying just that before and honestly the grief I got for it was relentless
I bought a cheap second hand washing machine for the garage, I really didn't like the thought of washing cloths in the same washing machine as clothes
Good shout. We live on a farm and have crappy clothes from Primark so we're ok mixing 😂
I made it to 30 seconds and had to stop. WHERE DO I FIND THAT TAP ADAPTOR?! My girlfriend is sick of me flooding her kitchen with the cheap nasty Wilko ones, if you can send me in the right direction you're a legend! 🌟😎
£2.50 on eBay. Screws into tap ⭐
Thought I'd go work early today.
Hmmm nope lol.
Lol sorry about that. Early bird catches the worm 🐛
You need to use hotter water than that per the microfiber manufacturers.
EPIC
Thanks mate
Just 1 cup white vinegar
My misses won’t let me put microfibres in the washing machine. 😠
Fair point. Definitely wash them in bucket of warm water first and it will be fine
@@epicautomotivedetailing well went ahead and just bought the valet pro microfibre wash so will sneak them in 😎
I dare say what you are doing is great but come on who has got time to do all that for a rag.? Just wash them without softness and at 40 degrees in non bio liquid, and the do a second wash to ensure perfect. Mine come out like new.
Fair play mate it's not for everyone. I was just asked to make a video as so many people requested it
I use non bio tablets
Nice one of it works it works 👌
Oh!. Well i just chuck mine in with my clothes in the machine and then hang them on a rad to dry.
Dave, thought Dad did your washing now he doesn’t help you on the cars🙈
He's coming back soon 😁
Interesting maybe but totally impractical for 99.9% of us. IMO
I know right. Imagine if I said just throw them in the wash. I'd be strung up by the detailing groups 😂
Hi Dave, can you DM please.
looks like some scrambled egg bro
Top tip never use fabric conditioner
Thanks for sharing 👍
It's toilet roll squished into a ball with water.
WHY DOES YOUR TAP HAVE A HOUSE PIPE FITTING HAHAHA
£1 off ebay my friend. Our tap broke so using that to clean the pool at moment
Knockout Info LOL LOL
😂🥊
I know what that is... that is disgusting.
Lol
