I absolutely love this vehicle, it's the only EV that ticks all the boxes for me. The only thing I don't like about it is that I can't even come close to affording one.

    • @Built2Wander

The R2S releases in just a couple weeks and we are being told the price tag is going to be much more affordable. If they manage to have similar features it could be a great alternative!

@@Built2Wander That's awesome, I heard about it recently and am excited that this could be an option for more buyers. I'm on the super low side of the budget and no, anything over 30k is realistically too big of a stretch. It's expensive enough just to exist, never mind adding a big car payment on top of it. My 10-year-old 165k 4Runner will keep on trucking.

@@trailrunnah8886Dude, 165k for your 4 runner is nothing (as long as proper maintenance was done). Although, gas…oil changes…break pads, 12V batteries…etc, etc add up. I have 37,111 miles on my R1S and I’ve done zero maintenance on it. Nothing, nada. I just get in it and drive. Eventually the Rivians will hit the used car market and will be more affordable. Although I’m never getting rid of mine (it comes with a 175,000 mile drive train warranty, which includes the battery).

@@fpartidafpartida Yeah man, I plan on keeping it for quite a while. I do my wrenching myself, and parts aren't really that expensive. It's a pretty easy vehicle to maintain actually. I have the parts for a mild lift and front suspension refresh, going to start working on that in a few weeks. I do about 20k a year, and I plan on keeping this thing at least another 5. So that'll put me up close to 300k. I had commented that the R1S was way out of my price range, and since commenting here the R2 and R3 were released and I have to say I'm in love with the R2. It's the first EV that I've actually been excited about. It still doesn't make sense to buy one now, I live in an apartment and can't charge it anywhere, but hopefully in five years time that changes. Also, did not know these had a 175k warranty, that's awesome!

How old will this vehicle have to be before it becomes a truly off-road vehicle? Whear parts are readily accessible and the cost is low enough to turn it into a vehicle that brake downs and broken parts are somewhat expected as well as foreseen and replacements are even carried along with some vehicles. It just seems ridiculous to call any of these vehicles off-road. Now driving on a 1/4 mile gravel driveway on your 100 + acre estate is considered off-road

Besides that I like the sound of a V-8 engines I don’t care what it is with the right exhaust the six cylinders in four-cylinder’s sounds great also this day and age.

I like the Alpha evs way more. Their a more practical size for an EV and have some of the best design out of all the EVs. That being said your making more pollution than a diesel truck running all-day long. To charge up that ev it will use as much as 280 homes an hr. Your just relocating the pollution to the power plant which is most likely coal power, yeah lets all get acid rain again to save the world🙄
