Could This Unmanned Aircraft Be A Military GAMECHANGER?

- A new unmanned solar-powered aircraft is being developed by BAE Systems and could potentially revolutionise military surveillance.
'Phasa-35', which is known as a 'pseudo satellite', is designed to fly in a deserted part of the earth’s atmosphere - high above jets but far below satellites.
The aim is for it to gather data like other platforms, but the way it operates could be a gamechanger.

So a British company developed a solar powered UAV, the irony
We get ☀️ light, just 50 hours a year lol.
You’d hope it flies above clouds
we need one that runs off rain, wind, and fish n chips
Export only, for obvious reasons. ;o)
This is amazing
155kg, speak for yourself, I weigh 105kg 😁😁😁
It's harder for the wind to blow us over!
it was for two people...
So thankful for this channel
Looks like an unmanned version of the Solar Impulse aircraft that flew around the world. Great to see the technology is being developed further and put to practical use. 👍
Be hard to detect both visually and on Radar (RCS must be small)
we need A LOT more of these. my 2pence: a wifi extender for sitilite coms / commercial internet. dooooo it! and do it before everyone else hogs up that air space. quick!
that's actually crazy
This could be great for multiple uses other than military uses Amazing
If we swarm enough drones we could level any threat far safer then ever before! Like a missile that can take ground from the enemy
Es sorprendente ,lo que hace esa aeronave, Miss Bethany ,y con toda esa tecnología ,parece una libélula
Gracias ,pues es así ,Gran Bretaña posee una avanzada tecnología en todos los órdenes y ámbitos
With helium for lift and solar for thrust, people transport and logistics might be slow but just think how much CO2 could be saved from the atmosphere.
Satellites can be moved down in some cases.
Glad to see we r keeping it top secret!
Bethany Lowe stunning
Look out for the Canberras.
why are you telling everyone ?
This is the easy part. Now for the impossible part, how to keep it out of the hands of Chyynaa.
As long as it's watching the Chinese and not watching me I'm OK with it.
I like ya house, wanna see mine?
Why would anyone wanna watch you. Your no one special
I couldn't care less if it were watching me ...I'm a good lad lol
nice bit of kit, pity our enemies now know about it and will shoot it down.
That's one way to break their bank. Against a drone with 1+ year maintenance at 45km, very expensive counters.
You really think other military’s didn’t already know? No. They did know just the public didn’t
Why tell us about it
It’s our secret comrade
Why not other military’s and people invested in looking at new uk military tech would know about it just in the general public
SAMs?
😬
At that altitude you will be talking Strategic SAM systems. (Patriot, S-300 variants etc) Which are generally used to deny airspace by presence alone. They are very expensive to own and maintain let alone fire and would be a government level decision that could essentially amount to a declaration of war or an escalation to total war. It simply wouldn't be worth it.
@@Mathiasosx1 Just build your own Glider to intercept it. Tracking it is probably the harder part.
It might be worth giving a few of the to Ukraine.
If nothing else one can then see how well they work.
Well, it sounds like we could have done with maintaining a presence in Guyana like the French did with French Guiana (the people of which also have a better life than those of Guyana) rather than letting the PRC take over there.
