  • Another Snowy Parks on the Air activation from k-1244. In this video I go over some of the gear I am using (first 5 minutes) that I have received comments about. My mobile rig is a Yaesu FT891 with a Digirig digital interface. Antenna is a full size Shark Hamstick for 20m. Also using an LDG z-11pro II antenna tuner.

I would love to see how you have that hamstick mounted to your truck. Thank you

I never thought to leave the map on while using HAMRS. Great idea. KC1PSK. 73

I love watching the map when I am activating and miss it when I don't have internet.

You need a few snap on chokes on all oeads in/out the laptop to stop RFI from locking it up. The antenna is only a matter of inches away. Good luck

Hey I appreciate you watching my video and leaving a comment. All my cables have rfi mitigation/chokes/ferrites built in to them and I don’t have any issues there. I use them in the shack where needed. I’ll keep this in mind if I run into problems in the future.

Definitely recognize that truck from this morning, passed you as I was turning on Kudu this morning.

That’s cool. We will get out soon when we have some decent weather. Or we can just pile up in my truck. Either way

@@JosephLittleK3ARK was busy climbing/cutting trees all day today. Had the HT on, but too busy to play radio much today.

Was looking at those boxes at Big R, never thought about using one for radios.

They are perfect for the 891. Probably would work great for the 857 also

Nice video! I’m just learning FT8 myself but if you’re question is referring to why it keeps sending the same signal report or whatever time after time it’s my understanding that the other station isn’t picking it up so it resends it again. Sometimes after a few tries I’ll force the next message RR73 and it will initiate a QSO log. Maybe that’s wrong but that’s what I do?

Hey Scott thanks for your comment! You know what, I think you’re right and that’s exactly what I was starting to believe was going on. I’ve also forced the rr73 before but I don’t think it helps. Anyways, have a good one and thanks again!
