- Aida - timeless and emotional opera with breath-taking melodies. Music by Giuseppe Verdi sung in Italian.
Verdi brings the ancient Egypt on stage with evolving love story at the backdrop of war. The princess of Ethiopia (Aida) falls in love with the Egyptian General (Radames) and he is also besotted by her. Radames is chosen to lead the war with Ethiopia by the king and Aida is left to choose between her lover or her father and her country.
These performers sound better than many of the so-called famous singers we have today singing around the world.
Beautifully staged Aida. As it should be. Stunning sets and costumes. Wonderful singing. Room full of trolls. Complain, complain, complain.

To the person wondering what language it is sung in: Italian with Russian subtitles. Opera singers should have at least a basic knowledge of Italian, French, German, because many operas are performed in the native language of the composer/librettist. Yes, there are performances with translated lyrics, but it is often impossible to translate exactly. I personally can't imagine Tosca sung in German!

It is impossible to tell if this libretto is sung in Italian, Russian or whatever.

Very amateur singing. Please go to LA Scala (Chiara/Dimitrova/Pavarotti/Ghiaourov) and then you'll know what is a good performance. This is very provincial. Even the chorus is very thin and badly organized.
Wasn't to happy with costumes either. Background scenery was OK, but are those Nordic or Celtic runes on Radames' collar? Also, Aida was supposedly a Ethiopian or Nubian (?) Princess. If they couldn't find a singer if color, they should at least have given her a tan. Please don't judge me as being nitpicking and petty - my family worked at the theater for 40 years, so some things really bother me.

В последнее время наблюдаю странную тенденцию:все Амнерис очень хороши,но Аиды обязательно в тяжёлой весовой категории.Одного красивого голоса мало,надо и внешне соответствовать исполняемой роли.

Można to zarobić tylko w laptopie, bo mój telewizor nie ma tłumaczenia napisów. Ale laptop podłączam do telewizora i oglądam z tłumaczeniem.
