    Turn off all internal burners and close the lid to smother the fire. Open the lid after about 20 seconds and let the smoke billow out (anything salvageable will survive this step…anything that doesn’t was already gone). Go in the house, find a mirror, and look at a failure. Only in that order will you find future success.

      Happened to my inlaws, we did all the steps you listed but it took a few minutes cause the fire was getting air from the bottom grease trap holes and it was a windy day. Ended fine in the end but took a lot longer since it wasn’t a good seal

    Always keep a dry chemical extinguisher 🧯, or baking soda handy as well as a wet beach towel. Never put water on grease, but a wet towel will starve the fire of oxygen.

      Gas is capable of uniform cooking far better than any form of grilling. A flame, is the flavor of the grill in majority, and you can get combinations that allow for the flavor of smoke from woods, BUT, the actual superiority in wellness/doneness is untouchable versus other methods.if you can't make bang on the gas grill, you're an exceptionally bad grill man imo, anybody can low and slow, but can your grill skill hit that puppy and get a family of 12 fed and not have it take the full day? That's a skill to master as well.

    • @wj2036

      @@caiusmadison2996 yup. I started out grilling single meals on wood or charcoal, but once I got a gas grill and started cooking for multiple people, there was no going back. It's so much faster and cleaner. Plus, unless you're specifically smoking something, I prefer the natural taste of meat from a gas grill over the mild smokey taste you get when using other fuels. Not to mention, when using other fuels, you can't cheap out, making your expensive steak dinner unnecessarily more expensive.

      @@caiusmadison2996This is completely wrong.
      With a big green egg or really any Komodo style grill you will outperform propane any day of the week. Whether it is 20 Burgers with the ceramic insert in set to 400. Now you have that hardwood flavor with no flare ups. Or chicken with no insert no problem even cooking with smoke flavor if you want by adding wood or none by just using premium hardwood charcoal. The next day I can smoke some ribs or a pork butt by adding hardwood chunks and setting it to 200 which it will maintain even if I walk away for 2 hours. Then on Saturday I can make a brick oven style pizza. Then on Sunday morning I can make biscuits and some great bacon.
      Even temp grilling no problem
      Smoking no problem
      Baking no problem
      Try that with your Home Depot SS propane grill Hank Hill 😂

    Everyone saying turn it off and close the lid needs there grill card revoked. It’s a gas grill not charcoal. That means the grill has vents always open to feed the gas fire so the grease fire will continue to burn with the lid closed. Bakeing soda is a better option or fire extinguisher

    • @RonOnTheGrill
      @RonOnTheGrill 4 місяці тому

      Exactly. You can't just close the lid on a gas grill to snuff out the fire, because of the way they're made.
      Gas grills have a long slot along the back that you canNOT close or block off. It's there to keep the grill from overheating.
      If that weren't enough there's another opening at the very bottom of the grill. It's there to funnel grease down into a small aluminum pan to be disposed of once it solidifies. That pan has to be cleaned out before you fire up the grill again.
      I guarantee they didn't clean that pan out from the last cook, the grease got hot and caught fire. Ask me how I know. With a charcoal grill you close the lid and close all the vents, the fire can't get oxygen so it goes out-almost immediately. In over 80 percent of all fires involving a grill, the grill was a gas grill.
