So I asked a question in this video about why the Florence Nightingale Academy is so named. I couldn't find anything about it, and Eastwood has no obvious connections to the nurse. As we know, Florence Nightingale was heavily associated with Lea, in Derbyshire. Thanks to a commenter, I have now found the reason why! It used to be known as Brookhill Leys Primary School, but it changed its name after Covid 19. The new name - Florence Nightingale Academy - is a nod to the NHS and the nurses that did such a wonderful job during during the pandemic! That's actually brilliant!
Enjoyed your video on Eastwood. The school you were asking about use to be called Brookhills Lea School but after Covid when it became an Academy it changed its name to the Florence Nightingale Academy. This was done as a thank you to the NHS for their work during Covid. Florence although born in Italy (she was named after her birth place Florence) she lived for a time in near-by Derbyshire.

Yes indeed! Check out the Dethick Lea and Holloway episode to see where!
I think that the school changed it's name during covid as a nod to the great work of nurses.
You're right! I've just searched for it! I'll make a post about that
Is it worth asking the Florence Nightingale society?
Could be, but probably not worth it from my point of view now, with only Greasley left in the immediate area.
No reason why others can't of course :D
