I heard Attract and Rollout at the same time I heard that damn moo. And I started with this game in Japanese BEFORE I had a full grasp of the language... I still have mares of night.
I hope Gen. 5 remakes gave her a toxtricity in a possible rematch. If they remake the first game she is a secret boss. If they remake the sequels she could still get a gym leader rematch with Pokémon of other regions.

Roxie is underrated and stands out to me, she is the type of gym leader that should have travelled with ash for a bit and been a comic relief character. SHE is a literal TEEN, she hates her father for trying to act cool when it just embresses her. She has a band! She is also the first gym leader in a pokemon game to have VOICE IN THE GAMES. How do you hate her?! Drayden is also dope, my dude is a boomer that hates when people step on his law (and freezes his city). I really enjoyed the relationship he had with Iris taking her like a jedi would take a child that was strong in the force, he knew that she would do great things one day. And he was right. Take notes LANCE. Damn pokemon black and white (and 2) is such great games.
In the anime, Roxie was the last gym leader Ash battled instead of Drayden. And she took on his entire team with just a Koffing, a scolipede, and Garbodor. And she was undefeated up to that point
@@Shuichisaihara5499 And to add to that, Ash only won because Pikachu's Static Ability kicked in for only like the second time EVER and he got a lucky para on Garbodor's last doubleslap
Well she is the Bob Ross of the Pokemon world. Lol! There are no mistakes. Just happy accidents. Hence why that totem Ribombee bums around in her parents' house. Lol!
Personally, I’m a big fan of clay. He feels like he’s exactly where he needs to be in the game, he’s a pretty fair challenge that doesn’t feel like a difficulty spike, the town he’s a leader of is cool (especially in the sequel), his ace Pokémon is awesome, and his personality is entertaining
Yeah, Clay had a nice involvement in BW among gym leaders, and his battle was just tough enough without being annoying. And a cool design, he looks like someone who deserves to be in charge.
@@GardevoirBoy Honestly...I found Wallace much more a challenge than Steven. Truth be told, I found Steven to be easier than Diantha until the remakes because Mega Metagross is absolutely nuts.
@@theskullboy8700 I must be crazy, cause my absolute favorite Pokemon is the Fire/Fighting Starter that everyone seems to hate, from the Gen that everyone seems to hate. No seriously I actually love Emboar, lol.

So when she first heard Raihan's voice in the Eng Sub, and searched up who voiced him, and realised that he was voiced by the Japanese Voice Actor of Tsubaki, she literally shouted *FUCKING KNEW IT!* Without thinking.
Honestly, Opal was my favorite just for making me laugh like hell. The deranged look she gives when seeing Bede caught me off guard. Also, while I don’t like the fairy type, I like fighting the fairy type (does that make any sense?).
Pokemon x was my first pokemon game when I got to vsOlympia i got my butt kick like so many I stop and I'm replaying x so I can actually beat a pokemon game
I got so happy when you mentioned Maylene and Lucario. Truly one of my favorite Leader/Pokemon relationships (yes I might be a little biased), but looking at them together you felt a strong synchronized aura from the both of them, and I love that about them. Definitely didn't forget those two
Loved this video! And I'm totally with you on Opal. The moment I saw Fairy Grandma I knew I had a favorite gym leader. I even wore all pink on my second playthrough to see if she'd notice.
The worst thing about Whitney is that, until you get past her, you're stuck with very few Pokémon that can overpower Miltank without heavy grinding. Putting her so early in the game, when most players are still working on building their teams, was just bad design.
@@emblemblade9245 Also Heracross, and if you pick Chikorita you have access to Reflect which actually walls Miltank really hard (though Chikorita was bar none one of the least popular starters of all time so...^_^;).
I actually have a funny story about whitney’s battle when i olayed through crystal. So i caught a scyther in the bug catching contest and taught it fury cutter and it miraculously tanked through miltanks rollout(a thank you to my quilava goes here for smokescreen) and wouldn’t you know it a few fury cutters are basically like a rollout when done consecutively and made miltank go bye bye
It doesn't have to be consecutive. Fury cutter gets stro ger each time you use it. Though I guess you already know that and probably said that for simplicity, but I had to say it.
Female Geodude works way better since Rollout and Stomp won't do shit, you won't fall in love because you're female, and if it does heal, you probably still have more health than you actually need.

Ari is a Pokemon fan. That makes SO much sense. Ari is so passionate about it too, when she rages it's because you can see the amount of love she has for the games. I live for this. I've only played Omega Ruby, Sun and Moon, Let's Go Eevee, and Shield. Out of the games I've played, I definitely agree!! You nailed by feelings on the gym leaders. 10/10 pokemons video can wait for more!
For me, Piers was my favourite. He's got an awesome design, killer theme, and he gets to be one of the few Gym Leaders with a Pokemon that isn't in his type specialty. His gym puzzle (if you can call it that) is lacklustre, but the stage and the fact you can't Dynamax more than makes up for it. The fact that he appears later in the game and helps you out also gives you time to warm up to him.
Heheh. I loved it when she complained about the wrestling being "fake". The acting/drama parts. Most definitely fake. The wrestling? Um....person claiming it's fake might be blind.
Whitney and Clair... Two *female* gym leaders who deny you your badge after winning fair and square... Plus, Clair's Kingdra and Whitney's f[yay]ing Miltank were the bane of my first few playthrough of Gold/Silver and Heart Gold/Soul Silver.
So we can all agree that Korrina Is probably ranking highest out of all the Kalos Gyms right? Far as I remember, she’s the only one who really did much outside her Gym.
But I do agree with Ari's choice for Kalos since Clemont is actually a really cool character and theres a reason he was chosen to be the Leader companion in the X and Y anime.
I do have to say that Erika never actually banned boys from her gym in the anime, it was because Ash insulted the perfume she makes is why they kicked him out of the gym. That being said, I enjoyed this list, and it was nice to see Ari doing her own video. As a Pokemon fan myself, this was a treat to watch.

In terms of Karakter MOST karakters are far more awsome then in the Games. I mean the Gym Triblings from Black and White go hunt for the Shadow Trio and evolve ther Monkeys while the other Gym Leaders attack Team Plasmas Castle, all to not only stop the Trio from assisting Ghetsis but also to shut down a Team Plasma Base, in wich Genesect was createt...if I remember that right. Wich is pretty cool considering they ARE the weakest Gym Leaders, they even admit to that. None of them alone has what it takes to be a Gym Leader, and frankly ther Gy should be a Triple Battle against all 3 at once.
@@neptuneplaneptune3367 That at least makes more sense than in the games, since in the games they’re the only gym leaders who don’t show up to Plasma Castle, and it never really explains why.
@@neptuneplaneptune3367 Yeah that's good idea. Anyway I've read up to part way of the johto section of the manga. I'm meaning to get back into it sometime in the future.

An Equestrian Themed military base where you have to sneak past the guards to grab an asset, the gym badge, and Ari catches you in the act initiating the battle. Yes I am poking fun at Josh. Seeing as Ari chose Cyndaquill as a child I will hazard a guess and say she favors Fire-Types so her pokemon could represent her husband's military background as well as her preference for Fire-Types.
I think she would be a Fairy type gym leader, since her favorite Pokemon is Gardevoir which is Psychic/Fairy, and she also loves Mimikyu. Josh well it's kinda obvious, He would be a water type gym leader.
I remember one time in Heart Gold, I was fighting Morty, and he knocked me down to my severely under-leveled Togepi. I still managed to win because of Psychokinesis and because Morty refused to use anything but attacking Ghost moves.

Technically, I'm pretty sure Golden Deer is as canon as canon can be in such a game. The final boss feels so much more like a final boss compared to the other two.
*Goes to Roxie* "Nobody is gonna agree with me on this-" I definitely do. I remember when I first played Black 2 absolutely loving Roxie's gym and the simple song she sang while in there got stuck in my head. I honestly just wish she was later on in the game so she could have a more interesting team. Well at least she has that in the tournament fights against her. Though honestly I probably would have been split between her and my man Clay.
Ok i gotta admit Ari taking the helms for a video was definitely unexpected, but at the same time was really enjoyable! I hope we get more videos like these in the future.
about the alola one; i'm still mostly convinced by the theory that part of mina's lackadaisical trial is because they made a last minute switch between her and ilima and therefore didn't have enough time to design a proper challenge. it makes just too much sense for it not to be the case. both mina and ilima are non-descriptively enough dressed that it would have been easy to switch them, but ilima fits much more with the fairy design than mina, with ilima having both pink hair, the color of fairies, and him having the typical fairy trainer sparkly eyes, which is a trait unique to that trainer class. meanwhile it doesn't really fit for ilima's signiture pokemon to be smeargel, a pokemon designed as a painter. however for mina, who is a painter herself, smeargel is a perfect choice. the stains on her shirt are even the same color as smeargel's paint on its tail. gnoggin made a pretty good video on his channel, but the main idea is that nintendo was worried that if they made the already somewhat effeminate ilima a fairy trainer, people would see that as an euphemism for him being gay, which would have affect sales in certain countries, so they swiched it around last second. this explains the lack of content for mina, as they gave all the stuff meant for her over to ilima, leaving her with the blank slate she ended up being in the games.
Probably an unpopular opinion but I actually absolutely adore Gordie, He's a plus sized super star with confidence to match, he battles with so much flair and honestly, as a plus sized man, that kind of representation is amazing to see. I honestly get so tired to seeing the "Gross fat guy" character or the "Strong fat guy" character, being used in videogames, I love that Gordie has so much confidence in himself and I aspire to have that kind of confidence in myself as well :)
tbh if he were in BW1 it wouldn't have been so bad, but also iirc he does help out a little even when it wasn't entirely clear how dangerous Neo Plasma was at the time.
Literally, my Gardevoir swept her team altogether. Pangoro immune to Psychic? Eat Moonblast! Maybe if she had a Lucario, it would have been a bit more tricky.
*flashbacks to Whitney's damn Miltank* There are unfair gyms out there. Clair comes to mind, insofar as she refuses to concede defeat. Then there are the forgettable gyms
16:51 maybe its my manga experience talking but i see her in a more fun loving almost ditzy type. when we first meet her its right after the protagonists win a contest that was stacked against them when platina's efforts were sabotaged by audience members that had a bone to pick with her taking part in this contest. fantina's first action was calling out these sabotaging audience members by literally throwing them into a trash bin. she is also helpful with the protagoinst several times. she protects them from potential stalkers (who in actually were really platina's original bodyguards but fantina didn't know this and just saw them as ominous), saves Dia and Pearl from Cyrus who used earth power on the two to leave them high up on top of an earth pillar that was crumbling, help them get back to hearthome where platina had a chance to fight her for her fifth badge, then after platina overhears that her father was abducted fantina lent the trio her drifblim so they can travel to canalave city where platina's father was sighted to have gone missing. she also takes part in the spear pillar conflict along with all the other gym leaders except for volkner who couldn't care less to intervine.
So I know I’m 3 years late but I have a funny story about Erika that I want to share. I grew up watching both the Black & White anime & the original Kanto anime on Netflix, and my first game was Omega Ruby on my 3DS. So I didn’t grow up playing Kanto but I was familiar with all the Gym leaders when the Let’s Go games came out. So when I played through Let’s Go Pikachu I recognized all the Gym leaders & knew the order. I’d just beaten Lt. Surge, gotten Chop Down & was ready to move on to the next gym! I left Vermilion City & eventually arrived at Celladon City, stopped at the Pokémon Center & shop… and immediately left, not seeing anything of value in this random town. I eventually arrived in Fuchsia City, entered & beat Kogas Poison Type Gym. I then opened the Save Menu… aaaaannndd immediately saw I accidentally skipped. a. GYM! I literally had to look up who the Gym leader was to get to Erika & SWEPT through the Gym with EASE thanks to my Charizard being so much higher leveled. To quote later in the video: “The worst thing you can be in a Pokémon game is forgettable”. Erika is not JUST forgettable, she’s so forgettable she’s SKIPPABLE!!
i gotta be honest (and i'm sorry for it) but i didn't have the highest expectations about this video cuz of the title. But as soon as Ari ”stole” the video i got the biggest smile on my face :) Josh and Ari are definitely one of the funniest youtube-gaming-couples ive seen...so far

Fun list idea and really nice seeing you make an appearance! But I have to say, I did have a stroke when Bea was named the worst of Galar I LOVE HER I personally can't remember ANYTHING abut Gord (or much about Milo)
Raihan and Gordie are my favorite Galar Gym Leaders for one main reason: I found them difficult to beat, and as someone who thinks that Sword can be a bit too easy at times, a difficulty spike was actually appreciated.
Aramau hijacking joshscorcher's channel and making her own content wasn't something I realized I needed...until now. I call for more! Also, human Aramau is amazing. ^.^
8:40 That actually sounds like an interesting ability for a future Pokemon ability. Moves like Attract and Captivate effect all genders, even those with unknown gender.
Might as well list mine (again). The only region I haven't experienced as of yet is Kalos, so I don't have an opinion on their Gym Leaders. Kanto Favorite: Blue, for his character development and tricky battle of using multiple types Least Favorite: Blaine, for having a personality that hardly represents the Fire-type (seriously, what do quizzes have to do with fire?) and having the fatal flaw of being a late-game Fire gym where you already have access to Surf Johto Favorite: Jasmine, for her compassion and personality Least Favorite: Whitney, for having the harshest difficulty spike in the series Hoenn Favorite: Flannery, because her volatile uncertainty in how she wants to present herself fits the Fire type to a T Least Favorite: Juan, for the obvious reasons Sinnoh Favorite: Volkner, for really selling the Electric type in not only Gym design, but also in his friendship to Flint and what that entails (You need the help from the fire guy to reignite Volkner's spark. Think about that for a moment.) Least Favorite: Fantina, solely because her DP Gym "puzzle" makes me want to channel Kreese Kreely ("Nobody said there'd be math!") Unova Favorite: Roxie, for her design and Gym style, and the fact that I can _never_ get the Japanese version of her Gym's song out of my head Least Favorite: Marlon, for feeling tacked-on like with Juan, and his "are you really doing the right thing" speech being completely out of place in BW2 when it would've made more sense in BW Alola Favorite: Acerola, for her skills being worthy enough for Prof. Kukui to allow her in Alola's Elite Four, and the Thrifty Megamart being a perfect Ghost-type trial area Least Favorite: Mina, for her lack of a personality, lack of a presence, and (in SM) lack of a trial Galar Favorite: Piers, for his understandable stance on Dynamaxing, how his Gym is set up like a side-scrolling beat-'em-up ending in an urban punk rock concert, how he cares for his sister Marnie, and how he helps out considerably not only in Wyndon but all throughout the post-game Least Favorite: Gordie, for having a simple yet annoying Gym puzzle and having arguably the weakest personality of the Galar Gym Leaders
Ugh, you reminded me of that twit in Gen 5. And definitely, if it was B/W pokemon liberation Plasma, fine, it could raise some concerns on what you are doing and you wonder if you are doing the right thing. But it was against B2/W2 Terrorist take over the world Plasma.
Glad to finally see some Pokemon content from Josh's channel. Thanks Ari. Hope you continue to do this. I'd love to see a top 10 Pokemon video from you like Josh did.
Opening up with the greatest Persona dancing song, immediate appreciation. While I rarely dislike gym leaders or elite four there are two stand out. Marlon in BW2 always rubbed me the wrong way as he always seemed like a slackass who cared more about swimming and playing in the ocean than, well, anything else. And his surfer bro “are Team Plasma really that bad?” nonsense after they literally froze over Opelucid City really makes him seem obnoxiously apathetic, like he’ll make up any excuse to not have to give up playing in the ocean. The other one is Kahili. Most of Alola’s elite four were people you had either met before or battled, so fighting them again feels like going against old friends who are going all out. Then there’s Kahili. She’s a pro golfer and daughter of the owner of the Hano Grand Resort, and that about it. Kukui called her back to be the last member of the E4, the, presumably, scrapped golf course area limited where she could have shown up, and she just strikes me as a last minute addition that left little impact. Also, Acerola is precious.
In Bea's defense, Paranorman over on shield doesn't use a Galar Pokémon as his dynamaxer either, and as JoCat said when sword came out, Sir'Fetched is the Chaddest Chad to ever Chad
Yes, but unlike Bea, he actually has 2 Galar Pokemon. He actually incorporates both Galarian Ghosts into his Team with Yamask and Cursola. Unlike Bea who...just uses Sirfetch'd as her big galar mon.
9:15 That choice made me think of something: what if, in the Switch Era of Pokémon, the leader of the Elite Four, next generation, would be the player character's FATHER!?! How crazy awesome could that be? Have him drop by a few times, here and there, until he outright disappears after you beat the 8th gym leader. He'd be described as a "Fairly hard working trainer," when people, including your mother, talk about him; a vague hint to what he really is. That'd be the crazy thing: he was the man who raised you, created you, inspired you to be a trainer, and you MUST defeat him to be the best.
Fire Father-in-law, Thick Ice Mama, Rolling Rock Son, Nanna Of Fairies. Quite a family we got here in Galar, and that's without me even realizing that the pilot swap Shared gym challenge having Moi Thai Fighter Sister and Ghost Wrangler Brother were actually adoptive siblings

I think the voice you hear in the Black 2/White 2 version of the Nimbasa gym could be Elesa singing but I could be wrong about that
In the anime, Roxie was the last gym leader Ash battled instead of Drayden. And she took on his entire team with just a Koffing, a scolipede, and Garbodor. And she was undefeated up to that point

about the alola one; i'm still mostly convinced by the theory that part of mina's lackadaisical trial is because they made a last minute switch between her and ilima and therefore didn't have enough time to design a proper challenge. it makes just too much sense for it not to be the case.
both mina and ilima are non-descriptively enough dressed that it would have been easy to switch them, but ilima fits much more with the fairy design than mina, with ilima having both pink hair, the color of fairies, and him having the typical fairy trainer sparkly eyes, which is a trait unique to that trainer class. meanwhile it doesn't really fit for ilima's signiture pokemon to be smeargel, a pokemon designed as a painter. however for mina, who is a painter herself, smeargel is a perfect choice. the stains on her shirt are even the same color as smeargel's paint on its tail.
gnoggin made a pretty good video on his channel, but the main idea is that nintendo was worried that if they made the already somewhat effeminate ilima a fairy trainer, people would see that as an euphemism for him being gay, which would have affect sales in certain countries, so they swiched it around last second.
this explains the lack of content for mina, as they gave all the stuff meant for her over to ilima, leaving her with the blank slate she ended up being in the games.
...ilima is a guy?!
...I always thought ilima was a somewhat masculine girl, not a somewhat feminine boy...

That actually sounds like an interesting ability for a future Pokemon ability. Moves like Attract and Captivate effect all genders, even those with unknown gender.
Might as well list mine (again). The only region I haven't experienced as of yet is Kalos, so I don't have an opinion on their Gym Leaders.
Kanto
Favorite: Blue, for his character development and tricky battle of using multiple types
Least Favorite: Blaine, for having a personality that hardly represents the Fire-type (seriously, what do quizzes have to do with fire?) and having the fatal flaw of being a late-game Fire gym where you already have access to Surf
Johto
Favorite: Jasmine, for her compassion and personality
Least Favorite: Whitney, for having the harshest difficulty spike in the series
Hoenn
Favorite: Flannery, because her volatile uncertainty in how she wants to present herself fits the Fire type to a T
Least Favorite: Juan, for the obvious reasons
Sinnoh
Favorite: Volkner, for really selling the Electric type in not only Gym design, but also in his friendship to Flint and what that entails (You need the help from the fire guy to reignite Volkner's spark. Think about that for a moment.)
Least Favorite: Fantina, solely because her DP Gym "puzzle" makes me want to channel Kreese Kreely ("Nobody said there'd be math!")
Unova
Favorite: Roxie, for her design and Gym style, and the fact that I can _never_ get the Japanese version of her Gym's song out of my head
Least Favorite: Marlon, for feeling tacked-on like with Juan, and his "are you really doing the right thing" speech being completely out of place in BW2 when it would've made more sense in BW
Alola
Favorite: Acerola, for her skills being worthy enough for Prof. Kukui to allow her in Alola's Elite Four, and the Thrifty Megamart being a perfect Ghost-type trial area
Least Favorite: Mina, for her lack of a personality, lack of a presence, and (in SM) lack of a trial
Galar
Favorite: Piers, for his understandable stance on Dynamaxing, how his Gym is set up like a side-scrolling beat-'em-up ending in an urban punk rock concert, how he cares for his sister Marnie, and how he helps out considerably not only in Wyndon but all throughout the post-game
Least Favorite: Gordie, for having a simple yet annoying Gym puzzle and having arguably the weakest personality of the Galar Gym Leaders
6:36 Oh my God I'm dying!🤣
@@quilavalover8232 ARRRRRGH THAT CURSOLA!
To be fair on both Allister and Bea, the amount of dynamaxing Galar pokemon is LOW
You ARE FUNNY AS HELL, do more videos
Fire Father-in-law, Thick Ice Mama, Rolling Rock Son, Nanna Of Fairies. Quite a family we got here in Galar, and that's without me even realizing that the pilot swap Shared gym challenge having Moi Thai Fighter Sister and Ghost Wrangler Brother were actually adoptive siblings
Josh: OK time to make a-
Ari: move aside boi. It's my time to shine
Josh: yes dear...
Dont you mean Ari?
