Every time, and I have seen this video dozens of times, the segment of music with Leslie and Zakk @ 10:31raises the hair on my arms and gives me goosebumps. I don't know why but it does. Rest In Peace Leslie. You are missed.
West is just the funniest character in music. Seriously. The guy is an absolute hoot. Where ever you are Leslie, thanks for all of it... What a force of nature.
My older brother loved mountain. I listened everyday. Killer Heavy style. I'm a big zakk fan now. I love playing his style. I'm growing my chops. Thanks guys.
God bless Leslie you'll never be forgotten you started a trend of music for so many I've learned so much from your ability play music rest in peace my brother thank you so much for showing me so much
Sad indeed. We lost a Giant!! I'm very fortunate to have see Leslie on stage doing his magic! And as far as you Zach..I'm still deaf when I saw you and Ozzi in New York City..
I keep Zakk in mind these dark days of 2020. Having lost Edward Van Halen and now his good friend and mentor Leslie West, that poor fella is in some soul pain. This year sucks incredibly. These guitar hero's didnt and dont.
No feel or soul, no great music. Fuck, thank you for this document of this awesome moment... I can't take any guitarist serious, who doesn't know and appreciate Leslie West.
Leslie the king of tone. He really knows how to control his guitar tone. His tone was beyond heavy. I prefer him with the p90's though. seems like a really cool guy
Losing Leslie and EVH in the same year is almost too much to bear. Throw covid-19 on top of that, and 2020 has officially been the worst year of my life thus far! I hope Leslie, EVH, SRV, Randy Rhoads, Jimi Hendrix and Criss Oliva are in Heaven right now trading licks! What an awesome jam session that must be!
Leslie west was a very Kind and Humble human Man. It's so awesome to see Zack with one of the Greats up on stage. I bet Zacks mind is just blown by all the wonderful and Great Musicians he has got to jam with .when Zack come on the scene with Ozzy he just didn't knock on the Door he kicked the fucker in. and to see him with Leslie brings a tear to my eyes because they can been gone in a flash. Like my Hero King Edward Lodewijk Van Halen. RIP Leslie I bet your in Heaven Ripping Mississippi to the Father .
Leslie is always the General on stage. He's one of ONLY a handful that invented this hard rock sound we listen to today. He can play as fast or as slow as he mother fuckin wants, and it will sound perfect. Every note tells a story. Less is more.
I helped my setup for a show like 6 years ago and didn't know who he was but Leslie ended up talking to me and asking what kinda drums I liked to play like 45 seconds before going on stage I'll never forget that
I used to go see Mountain at the Eastown in Detroit.Leslie has always been one of my favorites.A true legend of rock & roll. Listen to the riff at the start of "Never in My Life",...classic. Nice to see Zak give him the respect he deserves.
Felix Pappalardi told Leslie something about guitar playing he never forgot: "It's not HOW MUCH you say with your playing---but WHAT you say with your playing that matters!" What a great philosophy! What does it matter if you can play a thousand notes a minute, but never reach people deep in their soul?
"The 100 Greatest Metal Guitarists " is only the opinion of one person. The list means nothing more. Guys like Leslie West don't need to be included on somebody's list. 45 years later and Leslie is STILL recognized and requested by millions. That means far more to me than "Billy Be Bobbs" list of his favorite guitarists anyday.
What I find perplexing is that so many great guitarists don't think they are great. Leslie West is a legend and I've seen so many interviews with him where he downplays his awesomeness. He actually thinks his playing isn't all that great. Hendrix was the same way. He didn't think he was really all that great either from listening to his interviews. Same thing with Brian May. I saw an interview years and years ago where he said he get's ideas for songs and he just does the best he can to get out on the guitar what's in his head but he always has to explore the fretboard just to come close to what he wants to do. What?! Being humble is one thing, mbut these guys HAVE to know how badass they are.
Okay, soak this idea in. Yes, there is a level of humility but that is not the true concept. It is this....the more you know, the more you realize that there is so much more to learn. So once you see that vast chasm of ,as yet, unlearned ability, you begin to see yourself as quite small in the scheme of things.
its true, i feel that i am the same way in the work that i do, at the level that i perform it, ive been told billions of times how good i am at what i do, but i feel anyone could do it also if they just take the time and effort to learn and keep learning and working at it. so i can see how he is these artists etc think and feel etc. and how it can be this way.
Eric Clapton is the most classic example of what you're talking about. Ted Nugent--not so much! Nuge is probably the only one who thinks he's better than he probably is! Same is true of drummers You ask John Bonham who the best drummer in the world is, he said Carmine Appice. No one thinks Carmine is better than Bonham, but without Carmine, there would be no Bonham. Keith Moon thought Dennis Wilson from the Beach Boys was a better drummer than he was. Now Ginger Baker was the Ted Nugent among drummers. He still thinks he's the best drummer in the world, but very few others share that opinion.
Actually Slash mentions Leslie West as one of his major influences. Also Leslie West played guitar on a few GnR albums I believe only once getting credited on the album. They definitely know and have played together
beautiful......wish I would've heard stevie ray's name mentioned, but damn, these two together is and always will be the reason I am happy living, ridiculous songs and ridiculous bands are comprised of these motherfucking bad ass guitar players who know their craft and know that the better you are, the better the music is, I love them, thank you......THANK YOU
R.I.P. Mr. West. May the P-90 force be with us forever!!

My older brother loved mountain. I listened everyday. Killer Heavy style. I'm a big zakk fan now. I love playing his style. I'm growing my chops. Thanks guys.
Hey, you keep playing his style. Nothing wrong with that. There isn't a better way. I've always loved it.
God bless Leslie you'll never be forgotten you started a trend of music for so many I've learned so much from your ability play music rest in peace my brother thank you so much for showing me so much

I can't take any guitarist serious, who doesn't know and appreciate Leslie West.
That moment @11:16 when Leslie hugs Zakk......Tears in my eyes, and I dont know why....Like hes proud
I like what Zakk said about Yngwie. I also loved to hear West speak about tone and melody.
Leslie the king of tone. He really knows how to control his guitar tone. His tone was beyond heavy. I prefer him with the p90's though. seems like a really cool guy
The 38 people that dislike this are children who don't understand music.
It warms my heart that people recognize what a talent Leslie West was!
God Bless Leslie 🙏...the great musicians.....thank you so much for posting!

DONT forget DIMEBAG !!!!!!
Plus we lost Ken Hensley and Lee Kerslake, two of the greats, architects of the iconic Uriah Heep.

These two together= pure gold.

Leslie West is the reason I wield a guitar today Rock in Peace to this legend 🤘🏼🥲
Best interview ever.

I helped my setup for a show like 6 years ago and didn't know who he was but Leslie ended up talking to me and asking what kinda drums I liked to play like 45 seconds before going on stage I'll never forget that

Zakk is a great comedian on this one. I needed a good laugh. RIP Leslie West
This video is too awesome!
No it's a conversation between one legend and a famous guitar player. That's it.
"How's your mom?" "Mom's doin' good."
I used to go see Mountain at the Eastown in Detroit.Leslie has always been one of my favorites.A true legend of rock & roll. Listen to the riff at the start of "Never in My Life",...classic. Nice to see Zak give him the respect he deserves.
Excellent! Get well soon, Leslie, you ARE a guitar legend!!

Why I love David Gilmour's playing so much. 🎶
@@BoltRM And why I DON'T get Eddie Van Halen!
@@impalaman9707 I *loved* Eddie's playing too! It's VERY melodic & _flows_ naturally. He wasn't just about speed.
@@impalaman9707Eddie to me was like happy music? Never moved my soul. I like him.
What a beatiful solo, so much soul
This is pretty fucking funny. Love both of these guys.
This is cool. You can tell there is alot of mutual respect and love between the two.

Lesllie west is the father of heavy
Him and Tony and Iommi. Mountain is like the American Sabbath.
uh no.
@@johnkonstantine9115 He was definitely in the first wave of heavy guitarists. Actually, historically they were America's answer to Cream.
@@encyclopediaamericana7234 They were actually the American answer to Cream.
Yup, Zakk has to be in some kinda hurt right now.
RIP brother
When you blew your goo into ma....how come no one's talking about that line? lol that is some next level shit right there. RIP Leslie. One of a kind.
