  • Ngong Ping 360 and Big Buddha are attractions loved by Hong Kong locals and tourists alike!
The Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car ride is a visually spectacular 5.7km journey, the longest bi-cable ropeway in Asia. Built with panoramic windows, the cabins of Ngong Ping Cable Cars offer stunning “360 degree” views. The Crystal Cabin is believed to be the first-ever cable car system to adopt a full-width single piece of glass for a cabin bottom
Ngong Ping 360 was officially opened on 18 September 2006. It is destined to be one of Hong Kong’s ‘must-see’ tourist attractions
Ngong Ping 360 connects Tung Chung ( linked to central Hong Kong by the Tung Chung line), with the Ngong Ping area in the hills above, this is home to the Po Lin Monastery and the Tian Tan Buddha, both already significant tourist attractions, before Ngong Ping 360's opening, we can only access to these attractions was via a mountain road and bus service
During the 25-minute journey, travellers can see panoramic views over the North Lantau Country Park, the South China Sea, Hong Kong International Airport, Hong Kong- Zhuhai-Macau Bridge. As visitors approach Ngong Ping, they can see The Big Buddha and the Po Lin Monastery.
The Big Buddha is a large bronze statue of Buddha, completed in 1993, it is a major centre of Buddhism in Hong Kong, and is also a tourist attraction. The Big Buddha is 34 metres (112 ft) tall, weighs over 250 metric tons, and was constructed from 202 bronze pieces, in addition to the exterior components, there is a strong steel framework inside to support the heavy load.
The Big Buddha was constructed beginning in 1990, and was finished on 29 December 1993, When the statue was completed, monks from around the world were invited to the opening ceremony.
Access to the outside of the Buddha is free of charge, but there is an admission fee to go inside the Buddha

With the travel restrictions lifted expect lots of people everywhere.....Not a bad thing as HK handles large crowds well. Last went in 2019 pre covid.. No admission fee to go inside the Buddha at that time. (Anita Mui memorial is inside)
